  2. Excellency, I believe I'm not worthy to provide my humble opinion for thy request. I am but no engineer -though I'm aware of issues . I hath but owned one car that falls in your excellency's budget of the proximity of 3 million, which is the Honda Fit GP1 which hath been extensively discussed. Would your excellency care to do a search for that particular car? There are many more models I could suggest to your excellency but sadly I'm not qualified to be worthy to provide input. The current car I own exceeds thy budget hence I'm unqualified to be honored in providing an input for your e

Yes true, but this car taught me one of the most important life lessons: Living within your means. It all started one fine afternoon when I was zooming off to pick up my wife (then fiancee). She had called and asked if I could pick her up after work and I, eager for any chance to meet-up, had promptly agreed. I grabbed my keys, jumped in my newish Mazda3 and zoom-zoomed off. The weather was

  6. Let me summarise the two previous posts in a few sentences A group of guys went to a cheap pettah whore... just because she's cheap and they couldn't afford someone better The cheap pettah whore was pimped by a known pimp in the industry, who found an opportunity The pimp and the whore promised lot of things but didn't deliver - simply because a pettah whore is always a pettah whore, no matter who the pimp is And now the customers are taking sides and arguing with each other about her , forgetting that if they choose someone from pettah, they get what they paid for

And I'd hate for it to be another generic thel higanna forum. So here's my bit to harken back 'the good old days' Basically I'm painting my car red. Most older members here will remember my MG 2 sri 355. The car has been with us for almost half a century. It has been in many of late Lester James Peiris movies most notably 'Delowak Athara' where its basically a main actor alongside Tony Ranasinghe.(The plot is based around a hit and

  9. Personally, I disagree. However wrong the wagenR guy is in turning suddenly with no turn signal, the speed this guy was going to cause a car to fly into the air on impact... On a narrow road like that. This isn't the highway. In this case it was a car, but on a narrow road it could just as easily be a bike, a pedestrian going around a pothole, a dog. Anything. There is NO reason to ignore the speed limit like that.

  13. Hi guys. Hope Corona has not affected anybody. we were not planning on buying a Mitsubishi Jeep at all. But corona had us at home, so me and my brothers decided to get one and restore it. Finding one proved difficult, most have bad documents and ALL of them with open papers. Service records are non existent. Badly rusted and abused the hell out. But the demand seems to be heavy. Even the rust buckets went fast for insane prices. Most Jeeps are HEAVILY overpriced and covered up. Many of them had “sale paints” And big tires to fool the buyer. We went through the clasifieds f

Here's an excerpt of its history: JUE 477 was originally intended for His Majesty King George VI but following its unveilng it was dispatched into the Rover Company factory on 19 July 1948, and later found its way to a Northumberland farmer, who used it for many years before abandoning it on the farm's remote moorland, where it spent decades exposed to the wild weather. It was later moved to a leaky, tumble

  17. The reality is that even if u spend millions on these ancillaries to coat or protect another ancillary ( paint) , we travel on public roads shared by people owning vehicles of value 10000 rs to 60mil rupees on a given day, nothing can save you from a scratch or a ding or even a stone chip. So my suggestion would be do a simple wash and a high quality wax, pay the rest for insurance.

TIP : You will need 120gsm+ paper. If you do not have access to that (or your printer cannot handle it...just print it on normal 80 or 100 paper and paste it on thin/handycraft cardboard. Each member here has a specific set of knowledge/talent, some have are more knowledgeable than the other but we are all here to help/learn from one another. So please don't treat this as some sort of magical one stop shop for all your automotive needs. This is a discussion forum after all, not a panel of judges and experts. As this is a unique type of problem pertaining to the internals of the engine, no one can say for sure without seeing it or having experience this same exact problem before. I'm Truly sorry to hear about your problems as you

  22. Well well well, we closed one chapter and now we hopped onto the next! What you see below is the final purchase I made since no one had the decency to sell me a good X110 Mark 2 (My birdie is raised at y'all forever) so I decided (with a chuttak lot coercion from my parents) "Hey!, I need a car fast" so I thought what was really worth it and bought this car. So what is this car really? You're looking at a 2.4 Liter XV30 Camry in Black Onyx. Imported in 2004 by the MD of a "Strawberry Company in Sri Lanka" (You know what it is) and owned by him ever since I laid my grubby hands on it.

Gone through more men than a maradana hooker, but less than a model in SL. Treated badly, not run for years, ignornat bighead owner, etc etc. This was the Jayasuriya model A4 back in the day, he won a 95' for being man of the match(pic attached) Not the

  24. I suddenly had the idea to start this thread so everyone could tell the stories of the cars in their lives. Basically, any and all cars that you owned or had in the family, write a post (can be about a single car or about multiple, your choice), the more descriptive the better, and of course put pictures if you have them. The point is so that we all read and appreciate the stories of the cars each of us have had over the years which have grown our passion (or is it insanity?) for the automobile. Let me know if you think this is interesting, I'll put my first one up soon if so.

  25. So that's it! You are all up to date! From start to finish the process took about four and a half months. Lockdowns didn't help. There are some minor things like upholstery, engine detailing and chrome work to be done. I will see to them depending on Covid curfew and state of import restrictions. I will post an update once car is fully completed. I'll need to see Sylvi sir regarding the windscreen as well! I will run the car now until that time. So untill then, consider this project as complete. Hope you enjoyed this little journey with me. PM me, if you have any quest

  27. Hey guys so this is my first post in the forum and I'm thinking of logging everything I'm doing for the car in this thread. So this is my first car, it's a 2008 Nissan Teana j32 with a VQ25DE engine. The car has 111k km on the clock and still runs smoothly. The previous owner had everything documented (services, part invoices) so I'm a bit lucky there. I'm about to do my first service and I'm thinking of doing a full fluid flush including the CVT oil as well. So my aim is to make this car as luxurious as possible that includes suspension change and anything that makes the ride comfort pri

My man @Hyaenidae - that is impressive sh*t. Yeah well - the thing is the members in this forum are a lot of like minded people which is the nicest thing here. There are many of us who are not at all professionally into Automobile engineering etc but are just purely guys who have the seemingly unfathomable obsession with cars - the type of people who remember their co-workers

  32. Car sellers and car owners will tell you all kind of stories but here are some truths. 1.any car in Sri Lanka does about 9-10km/litre. Whether it's Axio, Allion, Wagon R, Alto, Bulto whatnot. Hybrids will give around 12-13kmpl. That's all. If you hear premios doing 13, 14 or 15, that's a lie! 2.ALL cars depreciate from unreg to the next 3 to 4 years. That includes axios, premios and wagon r's. All of them. Thereafter, there might be a slow depreciation or appreciation depending on government's tax policy changes. Some cars that were bought for 1 - 1.2 million in 2005 can now be sol

  33. Depends on the use and the filter itself....my Corolla wagon which just reached 40,000km and is 21 years old has not had an air filter changed. Yes...it is still the stock air filter. In the RAV4 I had in Tanzania...I had it replaced in Japan before I exported it to TZ..that was at about 54,000 odd kms or so...just before I sold it I remember swapping it out (I bought one in Japan and carried it over along with some other consumables). Then the Fortuner in Vietnam..when I bought it it had 24,000km on it and had a airfilter that was dirty (had leaves and heavy dust) so had to swap it out...when

The seats are super comfortable and driving experience was super smooth, well I pretty happy with
