How To Import A Car From Japan Or Any Other Country ?
Watchman replied to zeem35's topic in General Automotive
There have been loads of other threads on importing vehicles. So why dont you just do a search. And frankly the authorities don't care if you import the car to and plan to use it or sell it or put it on a pedestal and encase it in a glass box for the neighbours to admire. -
On the topic of ebay, you guys should try http://www.aliexpress.com/ too. Its mostly China based sellers, so the variety of goods is not as good as ebay, but i have found that prices are generally lower on aliexpress.

Are you sure the above electricity unit structure is correct? I thought it was a fixed fee where you now pay the rate of the highest unit (of electricity consumed) for all units you are consuming.
-
All that fiberglass would be more useful to the ladies if they just went straight to dum##da and told him to mold a nice big d!ld0 for them..
-
It's gonna come up eventually, so I'm just going to ask this. As we know, right now the rate per unit of electricity varies based on the individual's consumption. So the "cost of running" this car will not be the same for everyone. If I were to charge it at home (presumably 0% to 100% of the battery), how many units would it consume? In simpler terms, can we boil it down to a equivalent of running a X watt appliance for Y hours. So based on everyone's individual electricity bill, they can see how many more kWh (units) they will consume and how much it would raise the electricity bill by.

Lancer Cs1 Glx (2008 Model) - Genuine Brake Pads
Watchman replied to Podi Lamaya's topic in MITSUBISHI
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but if the brake pads wear out faster doesnt that mean they are more effective in stopping? And the reason you use a softer compound on the pads is so that the pads themselves wear out the instead of the disc; (else they might as well make the pads out of steel) So based on what's been said, besides for some brake dust that gets collected around the wheels the aftermarket ones seem better.- 39 replies

That said, I have seen a certain Joint Modorator drooling and spanking his monkey over a Nissan Leaf on Facebook.

I'm with Don on the above. Whoever this "guy" that came up with the technicality is an idiot.

isn't that only a bit below the pricetag of a (converted) evo 3 or 4?
-
2 day "holiday" huh? Technically you can bring as many as you want, just that you'll have to pay some form or import duty/tax on them. But why dont you call the customs department or look up THIER website for this. You can get the information right from the horse's mouth

Must go home and do a thorough analysis.. there's only that much camel-toes you can look at while at work (unless you work in a zoo)..

IMO, it's just a publicity stunt I guess. Sri Lankan "everyday cars" travel on such road conditions on a daily basis.. And this is nowhere close to "practising WRC driving".. It's just driving a car on a smooth, levelled, well-compacted gravel road. I'm not saying this is impossible, but it just isnt the same as a actual rally car. It's like saying "Ohh I took a shit and washed my a$$ with engine oil". Yes, you'll not have shit in your a$$-crack, but it just aint the same as washing your a$$ with good old water.
-
unfortunately in the current sri lankan context Mr. Perera next door cant notice which was a well cared for for car as opposed to a car with a English number. Ironically, over here people bid a LOT of money to get number plates that are OLD.

I beleive the reason the Mitsubishi factory team left was due to $$$$. As for why Mitusbishi's and Subarus are not winning; its simply cos other cars (and the drivers) are better. If you ask why the cars arent as good as the Fords or the Citreons, well, if i knew that I'd be designing rally cars rather than sit here talking shit on a forum Everyone deserves a good spot... . Even that independent driver who barely managed to put together his car and team and worked endless nights working on the car himself deserves to win, but not everyone can be a winner.

Independence Square, hotel hardens and other scenic locations are find by me. What I think is lame are locations like the one in the photo. Since a certain photographer (R.D) started this trend of doing shoots in abstract locations (and making them stunning using his lighting skills), every "studio" wants to be in on it. But most fail to get the lighting right and end up looking like the couple tried to find a dodgy place for some pre-wedding hanky-panky.

Hi Damith, I have a Kia SUV. And I am the vice president of the private-korean-car-sellers-club. Normally people who want to sell a korean vehicle has to register with us. The reason we sell these vehicles so cheap is because we want to do a service to the sri lankan automotive community, and we want to make korean vehicles popular. So when people are tempted by the low price and buy our vehicles, we can import more korean vehicles, and by then korean vehicles would be more popular and all korean vehicles can then be sold at higher (profitable) prices. So you can say that this is a long term investment. I encourage everyone to join in.

Who Is Using Highspeed Internet In Sri Lanka?
Watchman replied to Lalithster's topic in PC and other Console Games
we used to have Dialog at home and recently we moved to PeoTV. I prefer Dialog cos browsing through channels is so easy and everything is so user friendly. But the con is that you get the occasional disruptions due to bad weather. And the customer service is shitty. They dont send you the bill on time, then call you up and tell you that you havent paid on time. Then randomly disconnect your line for non-payment even though you have paid for it etc etc. My Dad got sick of it and just moved to peo when they offered a free connection on our existing ADSL line. -
The reason that you think the probability is low is because there are fewer porsches or ferrari's or other sports cars in the country. If you wanna use statistics, Ferraris should not be allowed on the E1 because 33% of all Ferraris in Sri lanka have been wrecked in accidents. Same goes for 50% of R34 GTRs. Eventually it's not the car but the driver. A driver should know what his car is capable of and what it's not. Simple as that. The problem is that to most sri lankans, the bragging rights of "my car did XXX km/h on the expressway" gives them a certain level of masculinity.

If you honestly beleive that smaller-the-better why dont you put in a Bajaj CT100 motorcycle engine, I here those get like 50+kmpl... I have to agree with HardHat you seem to have googled (and searched the forum) with the internet turned off. These are all repeats.

Those Aluminium ones can rust and get stuck, and when you need to take it off you have to cut them off and that's no easy task. I think someone here actually HAD that problem at one point.

Uk/australia Imported Vehicles Pros & Cons
Watchman replied to MoneyMaker's topic in General Automotive
1) so the noise reduction has nothing to do with "Hihway use". It's just the country of origin. 2) Are you Fu##ing serious? If your car is actually brand-new does it matter what it says on the book? Do you have your book framed and hanging in your living room so that Mr.Perera from next door and all your visitors "KNOW" your car is brand new? pfftt.... -
Well, though the only issue is the carb, it's a big deal. The DRZ comes with a Mikuni Carb as stock. The previous owner upgraded the bike with a FCR carb. The FRC is more performance oriented. At the beginning the bike had trouble idling. The mechanic said that it was because the carb was an obsolete FCR1 carb which isnt as reliable or easy to work with as a newer FCR3. So I replaced the FCR1 with a used FCR3. The change was like day and night.. The bike revs up instantly like a 2 stroke bike and power delivery is so much better. But again the FCR started acting up. When I come down to idling the engine stalls. And at times the revs don't come down easily, and I think the fuel mixture is too rich. I notice carbon deposits in the back of the license plate and the exhaust tip. And the fuel consumption has been decreasing from a acceptable 20-22kmpl to 13kmpl.. on the bright side I'm still getting better mileage than an Allion My Mechanic said it's an issue with the jetting. So I'm hoping to get it re-jetted at the next service and hopefully it will all be sorted out. I've been meanig to start a thread on this but something or the other kept coming up all the time.
