  1. Well, you could have just asked it on the same thread, right.. it would have saved you a lot of time and effort too, dont you think? Hon. Joint Mods: Can this thread be merged to the other? edit: previos thread: http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15306-tampered-odometer-in-2012-viva-elite/
  2. Didn't you have another thread about this few days ago.. why have you opened another?
  3. We all know once we see something rare like this we suddenly start thinking too much with the heart and too little with the head. Maybe you guys wouldnt mind sharing the initial asking price and the price it actually changed hands at... Not that i am planning on buying one, but knowing what one of these is worth might help future restorers get an idea on what they should be spending. Edit: I dont think it should violate any forum rules. And we dont need names and addresses of owners
  4. It's NOT??? sh!t.... <<Scrambles away to google "scrotum" on office computer...>>
  5. OK i gotta ask, why would you need to cut up a guy's ass?

The amount of dumb-ass questions these days is too dam high!
  7. ohh FFS!! NIshan THIS is you! edit: That gives me an idea. Next time I get pulled over for speeding, I'm gonna say "No no ralahami...it may have said 95kmph on your speed gun, but it was only 46 in my car, so its not speeding".
  8. +1 No matter how old the vehicle is, if you're vehicle is travelling at 60kmph, the speedo will show 60kmph. Nishan. maybe you should have given some more details on WHY you're asking this question, cos purely based on what you have asked, you sound retarded. If your intention is to simpl plug in the 2008 vehicle's speedo onto the 1993 vehicle, there's a a VERY high possibility that it wont work.
  9. By your logic, a car's signal lights are useless if its a bright and sunny day. And would you rely on a buzz to know that the doors of your car locked or would you rather hear the actual latching sound of the locks. I personally feel the buzzer is overkill and more of a "hey look at me, i have a security system" than something functional.
  10. Normally a warranty is given on the product, not on a particular user/owner. I dont think you need to even mention the ownership change.
  11. OT: I have observed that when I do an image search on most of these 60s-80s vehicles based on the model name (fr example, KE50); about 80% of the images that show up are of vehicles in Sri Lanka.. and no, I dont think it can be location based, cos I'm not based in Sri Lanka.
  12. I'm gonna be blunt here. He has no job, and no money to pay the monthly installment, let alone maintain a vehicle. I think he should sell his van, put the money in the bank for a rainy day (which wont be too far) and work hard at finding a job. Its not like he'll have a tough office commute with the van's absence. When times are tough, people need to learn how to prioritize. Keeping oneself from being in-debt to people/institutions should be more important than showing off one's van or FB15 to his neighbor. And frankly, if your friend's intention is to buy a car and "put it into tourism", then sit at home with his legs up hoping for the car to give him an income he's quite delusional. And as a friend you should be advising him on this.
  13. For starters, it's NOT a brand new car. It's 2nd hand. And honestly like kavvz says i too think it probably did a LOT more than just 13k. I guess you got the 13k number based on the agent's records? That just means the agents know about that ONLY upto that point (probably the last free service i guess). Do what Kavvz said and you shouldn't have any concerns afterwards..
  14. I think it's their standard speech for everything.. <<insert name>> is a household name. <<insert name>> is important to developing the country since our Hon. President saved out country from the terrorist.. yada yada yada...
  15. Considering the things you hear these days about dodgy cab companies, I really think you're better off selling the van. Put the money in the bank and let it grow. And when you can afford it, buy another. If you rent it, you run the risk of the van being stolen, parts going missing, van being totalled by an accident (which isn't covered by your normal insurance, or even rental-car insurance, cos your rentee is re-renting it).
  16. Couldn't agree more. A perfect example is that 1 Sri 1 car shared couple of days ago.
  17. This whole coke is poison it will disolve ur bones stuff is going overboard.. that guy's bumper looked more dirty than rusted... and any liquid with a good rubbing would have cleaned that up.. this is something i cam across some time ago, which is a pretty simple controlled test to see if coke really does remove rust..
  18. The only reason i looked at the rest of the car was cos of the 14- number.. the front end has been setup VERY neatly i must say.
  19. I dont think he's making fun of it.. But it's quite a cool way to stand out as an advert

  21. Hey Fiat Fan, I'd like to know what you mean when you say that you're going to start doing tourism. So you buy/lease a car, and then give it out to a travel agent for a monthly rental, is it?
  22. Can't blame you for not searching cos it's not a very generic or common question, but it has been asked and answered. http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/12074-suitable-vehicle-for-tourism/
  23. It maybe parked indoors, but "cared for" is the last term I'd use to describe it. Leaving aside the condition of the car itself, even the guy polishing the floor doesnt give a flying f#*k about it..
  24. Theoretically you're correct. But like GTAm said if the 'assembly' is purely namesake and the reason it becomes affordable is because of the tax break, then cant the government simply reduce vehicle taxes across the board and give the affordable cars to the masses. Why just ONE brand? So in laymen terms; its something like this. An imported car is 10lks. The government taxes 10lks so you pay 20lks. But now the 10lk car is "assembled" in SL and taxed say 30%, and the "assembler" sells it at 18 lks. So the affordability (benefit) to the masses is 2lks. But if you look at the bigger picture instead of 10lks of taxes going to the treasury for public services and infrastructure, only 3lks goes to the treasury, and some individual(s) pockets another 5lks. As for the 30% value addition its all about how you quantify it. Example, the assembler can claim that his re-badge and servicing 'value is 30%' due to pricision and expert workmanship. Can you argue with that?
  25. Sorry, i just read what i typed.. It's not the clearest thing to read... I was just saying.. You cant remove one tiny step of a highly efficient optimized production line, replace it with manual labour and expect save on the overall cost. So, if you take away the tax component, I bet an original SangYong Kyron is cheaper than a Micro Kyron.
