Well, I guess you still gotta pay the labour of the local "assembling" as well as all the overheads which would probably not be applicable if you bought a similar new vehicle from an Agent. One may argue that yes this "assembling" has to be done anyway even if it was done in Korea/China, but it would be done by much more efficient robots/production lines which would cost only a fraction of what it costs here.

Yes your questions are simple. And they have been answered before. So please use the search function to see what has been discussed about "engine flush", "Engine Oil" and "viscosity".. You will get the clear idea you want. Or just google it. Note: I sincerely hope no-one wastes their time answering here which will only promote more such lazy questions being asked in the future.

Yep, I'm with CJ5 on this. The reason you see Tatas and Mahindras in wilf life parks is because its the cheapest thing they can get these days. And those hired jeeps are not paid by the number of animals you see or by the toughness of the terrain they take. They will stick to the main roads and a few flat dry roads to pass the time that you have hired the jeep for. And recently my dad was in Wasgamuwa and got bogged down in the grand vitara. All rentals there were mahendras and apparently they don't wanna tow anything beyond its own weight cos the clutches wear out quite easily. Even they call a tractor rather than pull each other out when needed.

But dont they add on taxes individually for options?
-
At the risk of sounding stupid, I gotta ask: so now that all the trim bits are fitted how are you gonna spray the last coat of paint? are you going to tape/cover off all the lights n bits of trim?
-
I agree with CJ5. It's like you have a bucket that's leaking water, but instead of patching the hole you want to fill water faster

Almost like a tuktuk driver won a lottery... and i'm not just talking about the car..

Well, the OP started off with having trouble convincing the wife... and the wife would goto a gyna.... So in a way we circled back to the starting point. Maybe the OP should take his wife to this particular doc.. and during the check up he could do the OP a favour and drop a hint about how nice it is to have multiple cars

That's pretty close on the expenses related to car ownership, but the enforcement on 'modifications' is much greater. A friend bought a motorcycle (WR200) and it had an aftermarket exhaust. The cops realized his exhaust sounded louder than it should be, and issued him a fine that was half the value of his bike. In the end Singapore really isnt the ideal place to own a car. Which is why yours truly is now on the 2 wheel option. PS: But in case you didnt realize you dont get that many cars coming to SL from Singapore anymore.. There was a whole lot in the early/mid 2000s cos the COEs took a massive dip so it was cheaper to sell their 2-3 year old cars, get a rebate and buy new ones, but right now people hang onto their cars for about 5-6 years before deciding to sell them; hence too old for SL.

You're right. I was a big fan myself, so I had gotten the original DVD with all the behind the scene stuff. They DID have multiple cars. The bodyshell on the trailer was used to film the dialogue scenes inside the car while having a moving background. I agree, the Mitsubishi emblem appearing/disappearing on the car was a very noticeable goof.

Yep, and price wise, this nearly new Evo7 is almost the same price as a new Evo X. But then there's nostalgic childhood sentiments which you just cant put a price on.

Wow! You have a very sharp memory!

Yeah I dont think that car was riced up.. It was done up just right. And that was a time that neon was cool, before every tom dick and harry started using it. I was reading up on this car last night, and apparently there might be some legal issues running it on roads cos it might lack some documentation, but that aside it seems pretty neat. It IS an evo after all, not just a show car..

Electric Brake Booster + Master Cylinder
Watchman replied to Nishan.dj's question in Mechanical problems
Yep, you're right... but I think we hit a nerve there with OP, so let's not go there -
NZer, Yes, its not impossible. And yes you said "see the chassis", but that just sounds like an exit clause that people use just in case someone calls your post BS. And how much money, time and effort would you be willing to thrown into this project. And Shanka, the Bolero isnt anything fantastic to begin with. I dont see the point of trying to retain the vehicle just to have 4wd. You're better off buyinga 20 year old BJ40 than a 2 year old bolero. The options and the comfort will probably be the same, but I bet the BJ40 will still be a more reliable and hassle free ride than the Bolero.

<<cringing>>> Bro do you know who you sound like right now?

So what was the 'partial' servicing you have been doing so far?

Electric Brake Booster + Master Cylinder
Watchman replied to Nishan.dj's question in Mechanical problems
Sorry but I'm not familiar with this electric system. But my 4DR5 has a plain-jane servo (a 2nd hand pump from some van); and frankly that can give you wheel-locking force. I'm not personally keen on experimenting with brakes. And I dont mean to sound rude, but sylvi's gas cylinder servo sounds too freaky to me; and if it really was as effective as he claimed it to be, you probably wont be here looking for alternatives.. -

Hey Nishan, didn't you do the gas-cylinder brake booster conversion on your 4DR5? -
Scorpion Go Kart (Three Wheeled Go Kart)
Watchman replied to Sandun Madhawa's topic in DIY (Do-It-Yourself)
I believe you might be referring to this...It's a hayabusa though.. If you want actual info Inate graphics might know the owner/creator. -
I guess we have to agree to disagree here But I do agree if its a higher end car a serious accident will be putting a serious dent in your pocket.

So any idea of the going prices of these? I see a W202s for 2.5 mil and a couple of W124s north of 2.8-2.9 in the classified.
-
Bumping up the thread to get a feel of the market prices for a W202 Diesel (C220).. Say something from the mid 90s with a manual gear box.. What would be the going price for this? edit: the other option being considered is a W124 of the same vintage, which would be more expensive, but from what I have heard/read a E250 would be a more bullet-proof car for trouble free running.

I kinda have to disagree with you. If you have 4 cars and you're the only driver, then the car is out on the road only 1/4 the time, hence 1/4 the probability as a single car, but you still pay 4 full premiums. My dad owns 4 vehicles (it was 5 at one point), and when I'm not in the country, he's the only person who drives at home. And he has always been on 3rd party cover. To date <<touch wood>> he has had 2 serious accidents, each costing around 100k-130k. Even after pocketing that out, he's saved more on insurance premiums.
