yep they have to...the thing is they lost a hell of a lot of money for research and development in making the veyron...now that they have perfected the tecnology it's time to make some profit by introducing multiple products using the same platform...

if you are going to cut and paste a statement(or a marketing essey) from another website, please be kind enough to post a link leading to the source site as well...so the other members also can verify the authenticity and the context of the said excerpt. http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?siteId...ra_ga_0707.html

and dont forget that nissan were planning to come out with their sporty SUV the murano around that time as well with the 350z's engine installed...and they did not want another from their own product line to compete with that...so their 2ltr turbo was the perfect engine for a mildly spruced up x-trail...them faulty engine rumours are just BS.

yep these artist impressions have been around for awhile...and judging by the first picture of my post(which has been released by bugatti[VW] themselves) the two seem very similar apart from the tail-light design and the twin quad exhaust...which is curious because those impressions are supposed to have been created by total outsiders...very curious indeed!

well the informercial stars john schnider from the dukes of hazzard...maybe that's what powered general lee to perform those redneck stunts...

lotus has built an electric car!!!!! ...dont worry it's just a non-production concept...phew! Lotus Engineering has turned its hand to city car design, and has produced this innovative electric vehicle concept, pitched at the urban driver of 2015. At just 2600mm in length and 1600mm wide, the Lotus supermini is even smaller than a Toyota iQ, but manages to match the Toyota’s 3+1 layout. How is the Lotus city car concept different from other EVs? The crucial aspect of the design is the aluminium spaceframe in the floor, which houses the batteries and electrical gubbins, while also providing stiffness and crash resistance. The Lotus supermini has been designed specifically for short trips in urban environments, so weight has been saved by limiting the battery pack to 100 lithium ion cells with a total capacity of 10kWh and a charge time of 3.5 hours. The battery load is flexible, though, and an additional 100 cells can be added through the floor for increased range, or during the winter when battery performance drops off. Other innovations include solar panels on the roof to supplement battery power, magnesium-cast doors which slide open on special hinges, and the use of composite energy absorbers which turn to dust at impact for improved crumpling in a crash. That’s not a lot of battery power! Will the Lotus supermini get me to the shops and back? As long as you live within 15 miles of your greengrocer it will. Total range is just over 30 miles and the 37kW motor allows a top speed of around 65mph. It should be reasonably perky up to 40mph. Those aren’t big numbers but this car has been designed for purpose, and most owners are expected to have a conventional car on the driveway too for longer, faster journeys. Does it handle like a Lotus should? Not likely, but given the boxy dimensions, Lotus has done its best by minimising overhang at both ends and using lightweight materials including composites, aluminium and magnesium throughout the design. Head of vehicle architecture Richard Rackham insists this EV would still be a giggle to drive: ‘We wanted to make this thing a bit nippy and fun to get people into it.’ Talking of getting into the Lotus supermini, how do I get into that tiny back seat? If you don’t call shotgun, the driver’s seat pushes right forward and underneath the steering wheel for easier access. Alternatively, the back seats can be folded down to make space for luggage. Designer Jon Statham relished the chance to shake things up. ‘The interior gave us a chance to rethink things,’ choosing composite materials with mesh panels for the seats. Controls on the inside are very simple – a panel of buttons to the left of the steering wheel and a paddle on the right with which to choose forwards, backwards or neutral. Lotus expects that personal media devices like iPods and mobile phones will be advanced enough by 2015 to control all in-car media via a docking station. The new baby Lotus sure looks sleek for a city car... The Lotus concept is actually quite a bit taller than the Toyota iQ and the Smart Fortwo, but the designers have extended the lines on each side of the car to the front, creating a wraparound effect that makes it seem stouter. Two versions of the exterior styling were produced, one of which uses golf ball-style dimples to exaggerate the swathes which run diagonally across the sides and on to the front. LED lights reinforce the futuristic looks. Are they going to build it? Probably not. Which is a pity. Lotus was asked to produce the city car design as a study for Automotive Engineer magazine – but it could be further developed for manufacture by a third party. It took Hethel’s draftsmen just two weeks to produce the concept, 10% of the time usually spent on the first phase of development. Let’s hope they get paid overtime.

Scooped!!! i know it's not much but this is more than enough for a dr.ettore b fan like me to wet me pants....checkout the double quad tailpipes! source - www.carmagazine.co.uk These are the first official glimpses of the new Bugatti Royale – the legendary limousine reinvented for the 21st century. Bugatti is readying the new Royale to celebrate the company’s centenary this autumn, where it will be shown to prospective customers on the eve of the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. We’ll be the first to admit that the original teaser photo, scanned from a V*P invite by an eagle-eyed CAR reader, doesn’t reveal too much of the new Bugatti Royale – but today a second image popped up on Pistonheads which we've reproduced here, revealing more of the Rapide. It’ll eventually replace the Veyron, which is nearing the end of its 300-strong production. The last is due to roll out of Molsheim in 2010. The secret new 2010 Bugatti Royale We can see little of the new Royale from this shadowy, restricted rear view – but it does offer up some clues to Bugatti’s new luxury car, which CAR first scooped in our artist’s impressions back in 2007. The badge bearing Ettore Bugatti’s initials sits proudly amid the rear deck, flanked by a pair of very techy-looking rear lights. A simple C-shaped hoop of LEDs is visible, lending the rear a more modern appearance than the rakish Veyron’s rump. And check out the vertical brake light – a thin strip of red lamps that appears to rise up splitting the rear screen. Very different, very Bugatti. When can I buy the new Bugatti Royale? Heir to Veyron will be shown at customer previews in autumn 2009, before sales kick off a few years later, most likely late 2011 or beyond. Will it be another hypercar like the Veyron? Hardly. This car is a modern-day interpretation of the Type 41, better known as the Royale – a fully paid-up member of the roadgoing aristocracy. Just six production Royales were built between 1929 and 1933 and you’ll still spot them today at events such as Goodwood. You’ll hardly miss them: their unfeasibly long bonnets house the mother of all 13-litre straight eights. The new 2010 Bugatti Veyron will be powered by the Veyron’s W16 engine, but mounted up front this time. So don’t expect the price to be significantly lower than the current Bug’s €1.4 million price tag. But while the Veyron has lost money for Volkswagen’s upmarket sports brand on account of its painfully long gestation and development costs, future Bugattis will sing for their supper. old artists impression below

BTW thanks for sharing this supra... we need more posts like this here...these days the forum is cluttered with unimaginative crap and the pure enthusiasts have run out of good topics to discuss since the departure of D_Z..........damn!...why did that selfish bastard had to go and get a job...

if by some members you mean me,GTAm,xXx and all the guys who were pro modding, you are hugely mistaken...the tropic starter may have been flawed but our point of argument still stands.
-
no takers? ok here are some hints.. *not THAT old *think small *TV
-
actually a maseratti SUV is not a bad idea at all...since they are not a hardcore sports car company like ferrari and they have a much prestigious brand than say porsche or bmw.
-
really!...damn!...and i was pro modding anything(i still am),this just rendered that whole discussion useless, sorry to get mixed up in this clusterf**k madz. damn this is too much...even for a ricer like me zero to sixty times are universal...they apply to both cars and bikes.
