  1. I think Nishan Wasalatantri is the President of SLARDAR but Rodney Mason may have been the CC. Which was the event that was under protest? Mini 1000?
  2. Lights from a Hyundai? Aerodynamics from New Dumi##a International?
  3. Reyaz hit DJ in race 2, taking Dinesh out of the race and severely denting his championship aspirations. You know, I think that same CBR that hit the Civic, hit a driver in the pits on Saturday and was threatened with a DSQ by the officials. But I guess some of those guys are a law unto themselves and insist on getting attention. This is exactly why some of the AMRC races were so popular; because they were just cars and nobody had to worry about getting hit by morons who want to showboat in a crowded pitlane. They get warnings every half an hour in English and Sinhalese but it doesn't seem to work.
  4. Apparently Janaka ran into the back of DJ.
  5. Why are you impressed by the clown woman? She looks pretty gross IMO.

    Cygnus

    I agree.
  7. In vain man, you also should have run your Evo.
  8. Its going to be an awesome race meet tomorrow, so if you guys can go to Katu, do it! Unfortunately I have to travel out of CMB for a wedding tomorrow but luckily for me, Channel Eye will be showing it live. Our fellow forum member mivec.turbo is on pole in SL 'GT', pipping Dinesh Jayawardana by a fraction of a second. With Aravinda Premadasa, Reyaz Farouk and Janaka Dias (in his new STI) also running, its going to be a great race. In SL 'H' 1600 Sajaad Zuhair took pole from Abeeth Dangalla, also by a fraction with just half a second covering cars 1 through 4. Zakie Ismail beat y@ga p#re#a to the pole in SL 'A' 1400 with Damith Abeyratne and Ishraq Wahab also close behind. As for the hotly-contested SL 'H' 3500, Ashan De Silva (Evo 3) was phenomenally quick, faster than Pasindu Peiris' Evo IX GT and Ashan Silva (Evo 2) but I dont know who starts where in this event. Just so you guys know how big this event is going to be, get this: for the first time in probably 50 years of racing at Katukurunda, the race organizers have managed to build bathroom facilities for the drivers and spectators.
  9. Some of those cars in SL 'H' are conversions so it will be interesting to see how they fare. Good luck to all the new boys.
  10. Actually, I was wrong. Wiki reports that Mitsubishi is using a unit developed in-house, called the Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission), which however is similar in concept to the DSG developed by BorgWarner and used by the VW Group.
  11. Lots of interesting news at this site, with gory details of the Hamilton-Dennis conflagaration etc. Thanks must go to Rodhay for sending me this link. http://www.homeofsport.com/f1/news/default.aspx

    Hp Gain?

That's Pimp Status, for sure. Every time I see a picture of your EG I convince myself a little bit more that I have to get an EG6, also in white (but without the black hood).
  13. What he did yesterday just proved what a third-rate person he can be, and shows that he feels seriously threatened by Lewis Hamilton. Remember how he used to bitch and moan about how 'F1 is not a sport, its a business' and how Michael was not sporting etc etc? Well, Michael never did anything like this to any of his team-mates and although he competed unfairly sometimes, he never pretended that he was holier than thou, like Alonso did all this while. After obviously staying put after the team released him early from the pit-box, he still had the temerity to claim that the team were the ones to blame in all this. Ron Dennis was very angry, and I hope the FIA sends Alonso to the back of the grid.
  14. So this means your Evo 3 project is complete and running? Cool. How much will you want for it? And what will you buy instead?
  15. #### BTW GFX I heard that Shanira was planning on running his Evo 3 at Katu, in SL 'H' Upto 3500 CC. Why don't you also give it a shot?
  16. Unfortunately there isn't a class in Sri Lanka that can accomodate this car because SL Specials has been a defunct class for two years now. The car/conversion looks hot though.
  17. I think Mitsubishi may also be using the DSG system found in the VWs.
  18. There have been plenty of very fast, fine handling rear/mid-engined cars that had rudimentary aero effects, if any at all. Like I said, properly designed cars with decent suspension won't have issues and the whole concept of putting the engine in the back is to give you better traction on the rear wheels and reduce the load on the front wheels, allowing them to turn more accurately. The first mid-engined F1 cars didn't have any aerodynamic devices and neither did the Renault 5 Turbo, which was mid-engined and no doubt in VW and Nissan's collective memories when they thought these big-engine-in-the-back-of-little-car projects up. The 5 Maxi Turbo in fact developed close to 400 bhp and was one of the fastest rally cars of its era on tarmac. Bear in mind I'm referring to the Renault 5 Turbo, not the Renault 5 GT Turbo, which was a front-wheel-drive car.
  19. Thats only on crappily designed project cars. Or else F1 cars, Porsches, Ferraris and myriad other performance/race cars wouldn't be mid/rear-engined. There is nothing to say that this won't be able to pace the field at Le Mans.
  20. A specialist rig like that will surely be parted out because otherwise it'll attract too much attention. I'd cast an eye of suspicion on the off-roading community and keep an eye out for J22 parts showing up in odd places.
  21. Sticker Sumith, down Saranankara Road. I believe his shop is called Innate Graphics.
  22. Hey it IS Fuzzo. He always did have a soft spot for Anarkali.
  23. Copse, just like at Silverstone. Also, both being war-time airfields they both have a 'Hangar Straight'. Nice pics, guys.
  24. Some good pics there, GC. I especially like this one.
  25. Try the old US Motors Service on the new Attidiya Road. Its at the Bakery Handiya, about 75 metres before the Supermarket, on your left if you're coming from Karagampitiya. Its run by a friend of mine and they do a great job there.
