My favourite P&S camera (Canon SD870) is about to die. Should I attempt replacing the lens assembly ($30 on ebay)? It's a 5 year old camera but the quality of photos it takes is divine, and dare I say, even better than those taken by my brand spanking new Canon SX260 HS.
@jdnet its an original replacement lens assembly, probably pulled from a parted out camera. lots of canon point and shoot built up to 2008 suffered this issue, but the camera takes such sweet pictures at the widest angle, there's no barelling or anything.
