I would like to know if the Sri Lankan motor car insurance providers usually pay the full amount claimed by RDA as damages to roadside infrastructure during an accident or do insurance companies usually try to get out of paying it even if the policy states that the insured will be indemnified by the insurer up to Rs. X amount for 3rd party property damages.
RDA does not seem to have a transparent fee structure to challenge any damage estimates.
As the police do not release the vehicle until the RDA damage estimate is paid, RDA seems to be in a position to claim any arbitrary amount.
I would appreciate it if you could share any information or experience regarding claiming RDA damages via insurance.
