  1. The official Autolanka camera is still with me, better take it along, Andrew!
  2. Spoke to a rep at Micro, they're quoting 2 mil for it even under the permit. Which I think is NOT worth at all. Considering even the Yaris full option was sold for 1.8 Mil! But with the permit limited to local assembled vehicles only, there's no competition. Something smells fishy! Word has it that "R. Holdings" has bought a stake in Microcars too!
  3. In a scientific point of view, the most efficient shift point depends on the power curve of your engine. consider the two graphs below. Graph 1 Graph 2 In the first graph you will see that the power and torque curves keep increasing with revs. This is typical of a low capacity high output naturally aspirated engine. But on the second graph the power and torque starts dropping after around 7000rpm, a typical turbo charged low engine. So on car similar to what produced graph 1, it is better to shift at the highest safest rpm. But on the car with the second graph, there is no use of holding the revs after the point power starts to drop. Ideally you should shift at point the curve starts to fall. My explanation is from a theoretical point of view. I'm sure there are more experienced members who will contribute with the practical aspect of it.
  4. Looks like the designs were borrowed from the Chinese company Hafei, that lent the designs to the Micro Trend and the Micro Minivan. The Micro MX7 seems to be the same as the Hafei Saibao. 5. I know someone who runs a Landcruiser 4.2L Sahara engine in a Defender 90. Guys owns a garage in Narahenpita - 'Reliable Motors' is the name if I'm not mistaken.
  6. Even all 2008 diesel Monteros are brought down on permits. If one were to import without a permit the price will be just ridiculous. I remember the price tag was around 9 Mil just last year. BTW the actual cost for the permit is less than 5 Mil.
  7. Happy B'day dude!
  8. You mean you're already down in SL? I'll be stuck here at least till the end of the year.
  9. You better take Preveen's Camera when you go down then. I'm sure he'll want to have that to cover the event.
  10. I've used Jimny for a short period. Paid around 1.1 mil for it back in 2004. Not a bad car as far as you know its limits. It's actually built around a ladder frame chassis, and I've seen many that are converted to serious off road use in other parts of the world.
  11. But the higher wattage could damage plastic lens, so be careful. Also the blue/white temperature light doesn't travel long, they tend to flood, and suited to illuminate a wider but shorter range. That's why the HIDs come mostly for the low beam. The yellow light travels longer distance and better for high beams.
  12. Just saw on a local TV program (criticized for its stupidity by the motoring community) that IWS Holdings have rolled out locally assembled pickup trucks from its Hambanthota plant. Anyone got more details about the quality of the product?
  13. But RMV requests you show them the original receipts of the Re-con engine etc. But if you have an inside man, things will be different.
  14. Mafia has it's root in every dark corner of the world!
  15. It will have it's re-sale value as long you don't pay a premium price for it yourself. What is the asking price?
  16. The BJ40 is a very capable off roader ,that has gained almost cult status in Asia, Australia and even in the Americas in the form of the FJ40- the petrol variant. Give us an indication of the condition and also price. How well is it restored?
  17. Thanks a lot everyone!
  18. It is now ra****kse holdings! and growing further. Even before Mihin Lanka took off, people were sure of an obvious failure as the man who was behind it had a long list of failures and a shady past. Ask anyone who is in the business sector! Plus I believe Mihin Lanka was funded by money borrowed from the Employee Trust Fund! And that's our money!
  19. Thank you all! Even though it's the 29th in that part of the world I'm still half a day younger than you folks think.
  20. 2 door BJ/LJ 75 sells for around 2-2.5. So even compared to that the price is too high.
  21. Congrats! We're waiting for the pics. Keep up the good work Zaki!

    Carina Ed..!!

If it's in such a state I think you should buy it only if you get it for bargain price.
  23. From what I can remeber of it's past existence, it is a Lancer "L" light, earlier model to the "box"
