  1. It's not 100% tax free. The parts got down here are taxed. The current goverment has granted Mirco a tax concession and hence they are able to give the vehicles at a lower rate than if it was brought down from Korea. Keeping in mind that diesel cars/jeeps are taxed over 300% with current tax policies, Micro can give the Kyron at 6.5 and the Rexton at 7.5 million. If they were to be imported these vehicles would cost well over 15 million.
  2. The Sportage has two competitors in the permit category, Hyundai Tucson and the Ssangyong Actyon. Despite the love-it or hate-it styling and the low market penetration, the Actyon has better build quality and technology compared to the Sportage. Also the Hyundai Tucson has a better build than the sportage, even though it is essentially the same thing underneath with Hyundai owning Kia and both cars sharing the platform and the engines. So it is worth paying a visit to Hyundai Lanka and Micro Cars to check out the competitors before you make a decision.
  3. Total cost will be around 3.2 Mil Also I would call it anything but "All new". As per the spec it will carry an obsolete (but without doubt proven) 2C diesel engine. Today diesels have gone far ahead in the direction of Variable Geometry Turbos and Common Rail technology....
  4. Toyota Yaris or the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer is within your reach.
  5. Hi everyone, This poll is a follow up to my earlier poll, which I posted in the early days when we weren't sure about what was exactly avaiable. But today things are different with a lot of people actually having the permit in hand and all agents confirming their offerings. So lets see what everyone likes shall we... BTW I have one Ssangyong Actyon on its way from Korea...
  6. There were some threads about this on Autolanka recently. It is known as the Corolla Axio in Japan and will replace the 121 model. Toyota Lanka has disclosed the specs of the diesel version - CE140 after a long wait. But it is a BIG disapointment. According to official specs (which I saw myself) it will carry the 2C engine that we saw on the CE110 corollas. I'm pretty sure it is at lease a good 15 years old, with not even EFI! Output was a puny 80-90BHP. Toyota Lanka was making fun of Unimo for bringing in the Montero Sport with the engine of the outgoing L200, Seems like Toyota has nothing to be so proud of now! Looking at the current situation, the Koreans seems to be ahead of the Japs when it comes to small diesel engines!
  7. Are you sure you want to bring down an average car like that to SL? You're better off buying one here... There are plenty of CE110 corolla's here. And most of all, we have the better trims - XE/ SE Saloon and even the G grades. PS: 200,000KM is considered very high mileage here.
  8. When is production supposed to start? And what will be the cost of a car once out?
  9. KYB is also the OEM shock-absorber provider for most japanese brands including Toyota. So what you buy for a higher price from Toyota is more or less KYBs with a Toyota Logo.
  10. UK used 2002/2003 TD5 unreg Defender single cabs are advertised at 3.5 Mil and double cabs at 5.5 mil on the Sunday papers. Comparatively I think those will be a better buy.
  11. Best people to get advice on this might be, Miniace and DevindaZ

  13. Aussi version is not the Corolla Axio.
  14. As far as I'm aware F1s have a clutchless manual sequential transmission. It does not mean it's automatic nor is it a tiptronic. Tiptronic is an automatic transmission where the driver has control of the shift points. The future of transmission will be the VW developed DSG - which is a clutchless manual transmission. Clutchless doesn't mean no clutch at all, but no manual clutch. Here's proof to back up my argument. 15. What do you mean? However Micro seems to be producing more of the Trend and the MPV junior now. Also they are assembling the SSangyong jeeps.
  16. It is priced between 2.5 -2.9 Mil depending on the 1.6ltr or the 1.8 ltr.
  17. Try Jayasiri @ Mawanella. I saw them have a couple of complete bus bodys. It's a big yard just after the town going from this side.
  18. E39 BMW 300/301 520i is going around 3.5 -4.5 mil. 525i will be slightly above that. No idea about the Jag though. My opinion is the Bimmer will be easier to resell.
  19. Hmm I can't say you're 100% wrong. I think it's just that I notice a slipping clutch very early and replace it before it goes completely.
  20. He happens to own the 1969 Mustang too, amongst so many other cars.
  21. Sonata, inline with the BMW 3 Series & Audi? That must be the biggest joke of the year. To start with the Sonata sells at less than half the price of the other two cars.
  22. It's a Ferrari Mondeal t. According to wiki this model was produced from 1989 - 1993
  23. Pictures from the event can be seen at the below link until Madz uploads it to the Autolanka gallery. http://www.flickr.com/photos/prasannan/set...2703568/detail/ Thanks GTAm for hosting us!
  24. The price you mentioned on the other thread seems to be at the high end. Best is that you bargain and buy. I'm sure it won't sell in a hurry considering the car market now. So best advise is not to hurry into it. When these cars came down in 99/2000 it was going at 1 mil unreg.
  25. There is one white Caldina GT on the road. But once I checked it out closely it had read drum brakes, which makes me think it's not the real thing.
