  1. I suggest you start with an offer on the lower side. If the car is in very good condition I reckon it'll be worth about 1.3 -1.4 million. But truth is, nothing sells these days. So you might be able to get it at a bargain price. Also look for undercompression in the engine. My 65- L-Touring has about 130k on the clock, but not even the slightest sign of undercompression. But I've seen a lot of diesel Corollas in the market with same mileage are otherwise. This maybe due to the meter being turned around when importing from Japan.
  2. Small correction Milindu, the diesels come with the 2C engine which is non turbo. We've being using one for the last 7 years, which was got down for the permit last time. No complaints at all. Even though its the contempary wagon of the Corolla 110, it's based on the previous generation AE/CE 100 chassis, hence having a chassis code of AE?CE100 'G'
  3. Do you have their contact number? What other vehicles do they have without waiting list?
  4. Has anyone heard of any cases were the currenlty issued government servants vehicle permits have been available in the market? Of couse there are clauses about it not being transferrable... but is it that strict? Is it worthwhile trying to buy one?
  5. Thanks for the pictures, Anuradha. How do you upload the pics from on-location? GPRS?
  6. Here is a tyre size calculator that helps you determine how you can alter the rim size, without affesting the rolling diameter of the wheel. http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html
  7. A lot of dealers/mechanics in the Mini trade are known to rip-off un-informed mini owners. So it is best that you check out all places before you commit to a deal. Apart from London Mini centre, you can try Fib#x, JJ Lanka and Amila tyres for the 13" sportpack replica wheels. Our resident mini specialist, Miniace will be able to give you more info.
  8. The Corolla scores more thant the Sunny in SL

    Fiat 500

GTAm, if the agents decided to bring down the Fiat 500 here what do you think the price will be? Coz with over tax structure cheap small cars are no longer cheap when they land here. I remeber Di*o getting down a Smart down and the cost was over 3 Mil, and that was even before the crazy tax hikes..
  11. Supra_Natural, What is the going price of a good running condition VW Bus? I remember the ambulance variants being in service until the late 90s', were those auctioned off? Some were in pretty decent condtion until they were decommisioned..
  12. I think the FJ Cruiser is only for the US market.
  13. They were the Suzuki agents about 2 years ago, before A*W became agents for the brand. And I don't think they sell Suzuki's anymore.
  14. May I suggest the Proton Gen 2?
  15. Was that you in the funky looking VW Bora? The Kyron they can accomodate for the CIF value is a pretty basic, But the Actyon will have more options, even at the lower CIF value.
  16. It will be prized between 2.8-3.5 mil for the permits depending on the options you choose. If Micro decides to assemble it here I believe it'll be priced around 5.5 -6 Mil range. Pics courtesy of oneshift.com
  17. I'de say it was driven hard, I had run a good 16000 Miles during the one year period I owned it. Even did some rounds at Pannala to see how it behaves. No reliability issues at all, never broke down, just some routine repairs like brake pads, suspension and clutch. Total running repairs amounted to about Rs. 200K including services/ parts etc. Is that on the high end?
  18. A lot of factors, financial situation, plans of migrating , our road conditions better suiting SUVs now and also a freely available permit. Of course my first choice for the permit was the Montero Sport, But the SSangyong is far better than the Sport in technology and build quality. And it is cheaper than the Sport too.
  19. Sadly I had to part with my BMW 320D, due to many reasons... The replacement is due to arrive in two months, and will be the first lot in the country. In a way it'll be a downgrade, after owning a beemer, but i see it as a change, being my first SUV and my first auto transmission car.... and will be powered by my choice of fuel - diesel... It will be a Micro/ Ssangyong Actyon
  20. What do you want to know? I've done tons of research on it.... and more or less bought on too.. It's based on the Micro Kyron platform, with a smaller body. Shares the same Mercedes derived 2.0ltre common rail diesel engine, with either a 5 speed manual or a Mercedes derived 4 speed auto (Kyron has a 5 speed auto box with thumb tronic). There will also be a choice of 2wd or 4wd with shift on the fly. Micro claims permit holders have shown a lot of interest so far and expect to sell around 300 vehicles for the permits. They might also include it in the local assembly line in the future.
  21. I've seen a Freelander running on a 325- plate? Is this a petrol to diesel convert or ex-military?
  22. Happy B'day!
  23. Drake, where should I start looking for one?
  24. Doesn't he lend them out to organized events? Also in your guess what short of a price is reasonable to pay?
