  1. i am indeed. im on a gap year rite now. who's ur friend?
  2. a friend of mine used to drink fresh milk before a night out claiming it would prevent hangovers. i think carbohydrates (bread or something with flour) helps. but it would have a big effect on how fast u get drunk though. my best cure so far is taking a shower before going to bed. but my dad keeps telling me that my liver could explode when i take a shower rite after drinking. but i'd take my chances and he says panadol helps. has anybody tried that?
  3. in my opinion sl cops are rather peculiar. but then again all cops are. its just sri lankan cops are a bit more peculiar than the others i guess. in ur case msport i think the cops were just "picking" on you. it was probably a routine check right until the moment they realised ur sinhalese was a bit off. so they probably took you for a snob. for one thing nearly all the government organisations in sl seem to hate snobs. unlike normal people who'd deal with a snob and then make a funny remark once they are gone, these people seem to make it their business to give them a hard time. anyways this is just beyond our control. as helrazor said just ask for breathelizer test in a case like this. or just get straight to the point with no bs. if they do charge you even when you are innocent, as an extreme solution tell them they are going to regret this, get in your car drive away generating a lot of wheelspin (cos there's no better way to say f*ck u! i dont care) and then phone some big shot and have ur license collected. i mean after all you are innocent rite? if you are guilty, again dont let them harass u cos u did something wrong and you are already paying for it. and you can do without their abuse. so face the sodding charges and let that be a lesson to u.
  4. yep they said the waiting list is 19 years. but in truth u can just contact them before studio days and book tickets. i know people who's been there several times. as for the garage its going to be more of a tuning shop. i'd mostly be working with exhausts and chassis stiffening. its just an idea for now. anyways lets not hijack the thread.
  5. lol no mate im still very much sri lankan and im just studying for my degree here. i'd probably open a garage in sl soon. and no im not the stig but chances are i've probably run into him cos everybody who goes to the top gear studio goes past guildford including the cars. its a few miles down the road from here in Godalming. im trying to get tickets for the show. but they always seem to film it during my exams.
  6. yep the k11 wouldnt offer very good economy compared its rivals. such as the vitz. the problem with the k11 is they made it for 2 long. whereas the rivalry kept upgrading its model range. to put it simply the k11 came out to compete with the ep81 starlet, went on to win the car of the year award. kept going through the ep91 era till the vitz arrived. and then it was replaced just as the facelifted vitz arrived. as for ergonomics and driving feel the k11 is a decade behind the competetion. if u need proof get in one and see how much space you've got. and if u wanna know how dated it is look at the a pillers from inside the car. im sorry if im getting carried away but i just dont think its a man's car. u r better off with a glanza s. if u are very serious about economy however try to stretch the pennies a bit n buy a 1.0 vitz.
  7. wtf??? how did that happen? didnt you notice that when you bought it? thats one f*cked up swap. are u only looking for a b520 engine? you could easily find a b524 or a b525. i dont think the fuel consumption will suffer much. the engine you qouted had 160 bhp. i think you'll be able to find something in a similar range. and since most these engines are the same class there wont be a difference in mounting points. unless the guy who did the swap ruined the engine bay as well. just make sure u dont end up with a 250 bhp t5. i think the best place to find such an engine would be the www. i found a few really good ones last nite on ebay with prices ranging from £400 to £3000 here in the uk. make sure they can ship the engine to sl before u buy it. im sure u'll find a lot more engines in sweden. one quick question though. how much did the agents qoute for a new engine?
  8. Kompressor stands for Compressor (i.e. supercharger) and not turbo. its just an attempt to hide the fact that ur big barge is pushed along by a puny 1.8. it does offer more power but the engine is under some stress compared to the bigger N/A engines. and its not the engine that'll give first. it'll probably be the supercharger. n blowers are damn expensive to replace. unlike their exhaust driven counterparts. yep they'll probably cost around 400k. and if u are serious about driving the v6 would offer a more linear torque curve. whereas the kompressor will be all out of juice at high revs. so i recommend the v6 as well. but another thing we need to remember is if you are not used to heavy cars u'll need some getting used to before jumping into the e-class. cos the E240 will only give an adequate push to keep up with a corolla at low speeds. as for the models grades. i dont recommend the classic. its the entry level grade and it doesnt even look that great. the elegance is a good connoiseurs car. avantgarde is the sporting grade. the one i'd go for. buy it if u cant live without birds eye maple on ur dash i think the price range peaks at around 15 mil. and thats wut u r looking at if u want a top of the range avantgarde with a v6. see if u can get the full length sunroof with solar panels. its a great option for hot countries like SL. it'll generate power from the solar panels and use it to keep the interiour cool when its parked in an open area. one word of warning though. 2003 was a year that mercs suffered a lot due to bad electronics. an unbelievable amount of cars had electrical faults as they left the factory. i hope they are sorted out now. but ask for full service history when u are buying one. or do some research on each model year as to how each one faired against electronics failuers.
  9. whats wrong with the engine? is it a mechanical problem? if so how much has it run?
  10. is it running the new diesel v8?
  11. look up raving rabbids
  12. spot on mate! i think if anybody ever thinks they should criticise how seldom cars are serviced elsewhere in the world maybe i should ask them wuts the last time they changed their plugs, thats if they've ever changed it. but that said we do have to look after our cars a little more thoroughly in sl. i.e. changing the air filters, pollen filters more often. its for the sake of your own health. as for oil filters and fuel filters we dont usually change them more often than once every 12k rite? so im thorougly convinced that we don't have to change oil as regularly
  13. to give you an idea how bad the serena is, if i was given one i'd leave it and take a bus home go for a cm36 mate. my dad had one when i was 10. best utility vehicle we've ever owned. it even had 4wd
  14. TBH that was just a suggestion. i've heard it helps reduce sludge formation. im sure you can find more info on the www
  15. convincing, but isnt this why we chose synethetic oils in the first place? and then modern cars are built to have very long service intervals dont they? i know people in uk who use 11 year old peugeots with just a quick top up and they only service their engines once a year. and they are still running fine. the service interval of a brand new car is around 10k-20k nowadays. in fact they laugh at cars that cant do more than 8k between services. in sl i think we could do with an air filter change once every 5ks becos of the dusty conditions. but i dont see why we should rush our services so much cos how could any alien matter get into the engine? humidity? i dont think so. i think its rather pointless especially when the there's no noticable performance loss or a drop in fuel economy, nor a change in appearance of the actual engine oil itself. please correct me if im wrong.
  16. yep probably in a big hurry to get home... wonder if he's still got his crotch guard on
  17. check out what the pillion rider is wearing as head protection
  18. actually you are not the first one who said this. the last time someone said that i dismissed it saying i rarely take my car out and therefore it hasnt quite got through the cycle yet. so can you please explain your reasoning?
  19. i think mobil 1 is the best. i got the same 1nz engine in my car as the corolla. they say u can drive 18000kms betwee services. i havent serviced my car for nearly 2 years. n i've done 16k the car performs really well and now that im driving even more carefully i get 11km/l and 15km/l when cruising. i think its quite impressive considering my car has a claimed fuel economy thats worse than a corolla. and if u r put off by the high price of mobil 1 im sure u'll be able to make it up on fuel bills and not having to service ur car so often
  20. try installing an oil catch tank if you are very serious about it.
  21. thats exactly my point. i once heard he had a go at a customer and he's asked "do you know who i am?" and the customer said "yea alahena or sumthing"
  22. yep there is a rs200 in the movie. hope it wont go backwards in a ball of fire like they normally do. touche!
  23. i'm sorry! i'm sorry! but i just have to blow your bubble here. first of all this so called rolls. its truly vulgar. i dont know how long that car was left parked there but the photos must have been taken before it was covered with eggs and tomatos. no other car in the world can wear such a pompous radiator grille cos its just too vulgar and osentatious. and im suprised whoever dressed up their datsun in a rolls suit was say, "modest" enough to paint it in black without having a garish colour like gold. ok now i'll explain why the owner needs to get his head sorted out. u got a 350z n u need to improve the looks. but why? the 350z is already a rather handsome car so why change its looks at all. but then he decides to commit sacrilege and install a mock rolls grille up front. there's absolutely no way a car could wear such an in your face grille in modern times. if it was the 60s or the 70s people would worship it. in fact someone famous mounted a rolls grille in front of his beetle back then. he got away with it. but this the 21st century. people hate showoffs and wannabes. the only reason we dont mind this grille on an actual rolls is because its a rolls. and a rolls wouldnt look proper with the upright chrome grille and the spirit of ecstasy on top. and it doesnt work on any other car. i mean who else has the pedigree and the history to wear such a flambouyant bonnet mascot? then he puts it on a car that has the profile view of, again, a beetle. rollers are upright wedges. they have been and always will be. they've never built an aerodynamic shape even as a concept. if he wanted to fool us he might have well put it up on a london bus. and then look at those wheels. seems like he's nicked them from a Jay-Zed film set. as for the company. i'll trust indians to design my sarong. but not my car. have you ever seen a indian built car thats seriously good looking? scorpio??? i dont think so. look at the cars they've built, the ones they've built with no input from major manufacturers. they are just a random selection of common aftermarket parts. if they think this datsun roller would serve as a company demo car i'll have pic of my own bottom as a showcase of my company's excellence. what bothers me is they could have seriously fooled us had they passed it as a maybach (remember the excelero). but instead they went for the most established marque in the history motoring. dumb tw*ts
  24. UK all the way. Rolls royce remains the best car in the world. the mini one of the greatest. the land rover something we cant do without. and when it comes to beautiful cars who's been a bigger threat to italians than brits??? aston martins remain absolutely gorgeous. i like nearly all the motoring aspects thats british. brits dont like something thats fast in a straight line, they need good handling. u can give a brit a nicely handling car with a 1.0 engine n they'll love it. why because brits dont build their roads straight. drive through a housing estate and you'll understand. brits love hatchbacks. and whats wrong with that? u can park in a gap of 2 inches and when ur washing machine breaks down u can take it to the menders. can u do that in a saloon car? they like open top motoring. actually brits by more convertibles per head than any other nation. that is in a country where it rains 364 days a year. but they dont care. they drive everyday with the top up but on that 1 day its sunny and all beautiful they put the top down and enjoy a dash of open top motoring. they dont like flashy cars. they dont like bad sounding cars. their favourite colours are black and silver. but i think their single biggest invention is the affordable sports car. think of it like this. nowadays we take our honda sirs starlet gts carina gts wrxs and evos for granted. but who started this trend? its the brits. it was ford uk who first started putting big engines in small cars making them fast as the fastest stuff they make. but jaguar was already making cheap sports cars sumthing nissan later did with the gtr and toyota with the 2jz supra. on that front alone i think we should worship uk as the greatest automotive country in the world. all japan did was just copy their ideas. one last thing. who do you think is the 1st nation thats started driving on the correct side of the road???
  25. i always stick with the manufacturers claims cos my car already has a rather bumpy ride. so im happy with 30 psi. but then again a 5psi increase would do wonders to ur fuel bills. cos there's a smaller contact patch with over inflated tyres and since the sidewall is held up as straight as possible there's lesser rolling resistance. which slightly increases the performance as well. not just that. you'll appreciate the sharper handling. on the minus side you'll have to live with a relatively bumpy ride and the tyre life could be slightly reduced and also u'll have less grip off the line. as for lal alawatte i think he's talking bollocks. i never liked his attitude anyways.
