  1. @kmeeg how do the AT's stack up against the HT's you swapped out, especially on road/around town?
  2. @Kavvz looks like someone managed to log back in to their old account?? Hard to miss that tread pattern. Iconic like the old Goodyear Eagle F1's V pattern. BFG KO2's really defined that class of tire - legendary and still held in very high esteem (not showing off because they weren't available here at the time with D*MO so couldn't get them - rather pricey as well but hey you get what you pay for!) That said most of the most recent tire tests have claimed that the KO2's despite still being one of the best is a little long in the tooth as far as design and R&D is concerned. The reviews from various corners of reviewers in the US & UK concede that a redesign is overdue. The new Cooper Discoverer AT3's & Yokohama Geolandar G015's get a lot of good press as tires which offer a better proposition as AT tires go being more civilised on road without having the age old compromises of high noise, questionable wet weather braking, lack of steering feel and (rubber) hardening issues traditional large block AT tires are notorious for.
  3. I don't think so @Virenmg There was some permit available to import classic cars but you will be taxed on engine capacity if i'm not mistaken but i don't think this is still in place. There were a few cars that were brought down and registered legally a couple of years ago. Anyhow aren't all vehicle imports suspended thanks to COVID-19?
  4. @Ted what are your thoughts regarding the evolution of passive (& even more so active) - because it can be compared to present day / modern vehicles - safety features? I drive a 90's vehicle as well and would love to see more such cars being used by enthusiasts however there are inherent benefits of modern cars right? Then there is also the matter of efficiency & emissions as well
  5. @Ted feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but i don't recall there being a 6 speed automatic option on the AT/CT210 generation to begin with so @thushanthatj was likely referring to the C160 transmission that came with the Silver or Black Top 4AGE's? @iRage weren't the automatics also 4 speed + OD or was that the AT190 generation?
  6. @kav tell me you're joking?!??
  7. The point about reliability is very valid @PerfMad - no point going to all that effort if the car won't run right - a predicament a lot of people who have tried to modify/upgrade their cars have (but not all will freely admit or accept ?) @Rumeth Rathubalage do you have a particular power output you want to hit with your build or is it more just to improve the driving dynamics of the car?
  8. I think the limit was brought down to 200 or 300cc which would preclude the ability to legally move up to a 2000cc K20 but check with the RMV
  9. @fiat fan interesting topic I recall seeing the odd CJ5, CJ-7 & even a Scrambler but nothing in the recent past Occasionally you see them pop up on Ikm@n as well but doubt any of them had the original engine & gearbox
  10. @Casanova is that the sound of relief ?? What did you replace it with??
  11. @kmeeg are those BFG KO2's on the right?
  12. Dear Mr @Sylvi Wijesinghe, Would you be able to please enlighten us on how both companies (car agents or independent workshops) and individuals managed to carry out work or more to the point import car parts during the 1960-70's Bandaranaike era? I ask this because of the potential parallels, if indeed the country is to restrict imports in order to stem the slide of the rupee and safeguard reserves in this post-COVID19 economy in 2020. How did people/businesses manage back then?
  13. I know you're right @iRage but it is sad to see what Subaru has become from it was as a relatively small volume manufacture making some really solid drivers cars for people with real world needs to just another random car maker?
  14. @The Don what about the components / raw material for manufacture? Will those be exempt from the import restrictions? The export companies will have an excuse to import, thread or fabric as an example, given the local value addition and potential forex earning capacity but what will Mahindra/Ideal do you reckon?
  15. Makes sense but what about how they've watered down the Forester over the past 2 generations? Quality isn't what it used to be either
  16. @iRage do we get to blame Toyota for this as well? The Subaru a lot of enthusiasts are so fond of doesn't exist anymore
  17. Engine knock on account of pre-ignition/detonation
  18. @GoldBugBee FB-15 air flow sensor issue?
  19. @Ted too late now but do you perhaps feel it may have been better/cheaper/easier if you had got a reputed technician to rebuild your engine? Also be mindful of the fact that your insurance policy will have one engine number and another in your car, which also will not correspond with your certificate of registration so you may be giving them a reason to deny a claim since you've made a serious change to the vehicle outside of the legal due process
  20. Are you sure about the lack of an O2 sensor and CAT??? Doesn't sounds right for an EFI car or that vintage Just input your chassis number in the the site below - should tell you https://partsouq.com/ You can also order the injectors (if that is actually what is wrong with it!) - be mindful of importing anything these days as clearing things might prove tricky due to the restrictions as well as bottlenecks at the ports
  21. @Virenmg out of curiosity, when you say "we" who are you referring you? Have you undertaken any drivetrain swaps lately per chance? What are the inherent features of the W8 that you feel would lend itself to this project - other than of course the low purchase price which you made mention of?
  22. Lots of threads on this so do search the forums for details Bottom line - good car?
  23. @vitz are you 100% sure about the 92 Octane ? @iRage I have a vague recollection of us all discussing this on some other thread?
  24. @Virenmg psycho indeed ? Oddly this isn't the first time i've heard this idea bandied about - there was something like this on one of the old VW forums sometime ago..... https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2249293-W8-in-a-B5-A4 https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/338944-W8-in-a-B5-S4 In a nutshell it is a No? - complexity, weight, balance, cost
  25. HT 42 42 or 24 24 or something like that In this market a cash offer might go a long way ?
