  1. @ajmsometimes I've found sanitizer can stain some fabrics leaving those waterings in some cases
  2. The Mazda 2 is an excellent choice Nice peppy engine, plenty of oomph and an excellent 6 speed tiptronic gearbox! Perfect size in town. Handles, goes and stops well It's a little short only in the safety tech department for such a new car missing out on side airbags but bar that hardly anything worth fussing about. Very reliable mechanically There may be the odd AC niggle but nothing major
  3. @Virenmgis this just for our information or is there some revelation or point related to your swap idea by pointing out the manual 1 JZ-GTE??? If your point lies in the possibility of better fuel economy I will be amused ?
  4. Thanks @Sam B Sounds like it's worth a try then ?
  5. It's refreshing to see someone ask about something that isn't a Toyota Ironically I don't have any personal insights to offer ??‍♂️
  6. Not a bad idea in some ways i guess given that the chances of finding a well maintained Pajero - perhaps even a fully loaded Turbo wagon - is a lot better ?
  7. Why not Toyota Lanka themselves? Guessing you will get a genuine original battery and a solid warranty
  8. @Virenmg i hope you aren't getting caught up in this current fad of 90's Japanese "restomods" Everyone has very conveniently forgotten the documentation work that needs to go in to these engine swaps if done by the book. Very often people are seen throwing about "1JZ-GTE" to try to validate their JDM chops but actually sticking an engine that wasn't meant to be in one car just because it is purposed to be a fancy "motor" with "street cred" is much easier said than done.
  9. @trinity isn't the Verada/Magna also front wheel drive? The doesn't lend well to working with a Mark II drivetrain swap now does it?
  10. @Hyaenidaeany idea if the local agent carries their range of dash cams? These things don't need to be wired in do they?
  11. Sorry to dig up this old thread but has anyone tried any of the Xiaomi dash cams out locally? Any other sensibly priced branded options?
  12. Come now @ajm i think we can all agree with the point you're trying to make that an older Euro car will cost more money than a similarly priced conventional (Japanese) option but let's not go around arbitrarily throwing around absolute figures without even having seen the particular specimen (i assume :D) in question. It's not fair to scare off @RansikaWimhan - is it the Burgundy one that is at the care sale in Malabe?
  13. @CNX there are specialist workshops that have both the expertise and experience with handling these for an example Ultimate Motorworks in Werahera, Boralesgamuwa Concur with your point regarding the part sourcing lead times - the good news though is that BMW makes replacement parts for even these older models but it's the process of getting them down that's a nightmare now thanks to how overzealous local customs has become :(
  14. True When it comes to certain brands the country of manufacture, compound and tread pattern play a huge role in terms of the quality and performance of the tire. Ironically the one of the best tires i've used and the worst tire are both Michelin Also @tiv with SUV or 4x4 tires things even with the same tread pattern sometimes vary when you compare performance of a LT (light truck) spec tire with extra ply's and a reinforced sidewall. Those make a big difference in terms of overall strength, wear, flex & puncture resistance versus the same "P" grade passenger tire.
  15. Depends on the quality of the repair liquid used. Tyre SLIME costs a more than the Chinese garbage in the market but is TPMS safe. A friend of mine used my kit with no adverse effects https://www.slime.com/us/products/dial/auto/sealants/tire-sensor-safe.php
  16. Michelin Primacy 3? or HP?
  17. Good question They do on site inspection right? Wonder how they take a proper look at the undercarriage?
  18. Hmmm does it need to be a fully fledged full size SUV? Is that budget firm? They're both unrefined, low quality options to be very blunt. You don't see very many Indian vehicles meant to last decades. NVH levels are very harsh and they're utterly primitive. Why not something Japanese like a LN106 Hilux or Nissan D21? Do you need more than 5 seats?
  19. That's a very poor example using someone doing the wrong thing as a relative measure The same mindset that standards or health and safety are a nuisance or an optional consideration at best
  20. Make sure whatever spare you get has the same rolling radius as your tires Another option is to move your existing good tire to the boot and use it as a spare (assuming there is space for it but i see how that will upend your storage space) and get 2 tires for whichever axle If you go with just 1 then perhaps move it to the rear axle?
  21. Is it the same tread pattern? Assuming it's the correct size
  22. @Ted is there some reason that you are doing this to yourself?? It is admirable that you wan't to do this yourself, but why would you risk tinkering with an asset worth so much money with I assume little to no experience of your own? If it's involvement or learning that you wanted, surely there would have been some mechanic out there who would have let you work alongside them or at the very least observe how they worked but this comes across as being a little cavalier
