You'll have to pay a semi luxury tax for the 1801-2000 to category. Starts with Rs. 25,000/- annually decreasing by Rs.5,000/- goes up to 7 years.... ie- 1st year Rs.25,000/- 2nd year Rs.22,500/- 3rd year Rs.20,000/- 4th year Rs.17,500/- 5th year Rs.15,000/- 6th year Rs.12500/- 7th year Rs.10,000/- And for late payments there's a penalty of 50% Normally a petrol car with 1800cc has 1798cc in the book (I guess) so there's a greater chance a 1800cc car could avoid this tax bracket. And most probably the tax payment for the mentioned car must be over by now.

HP11 styling and looks are absolutely good and better than the HP12 I would say and the handling as well. HP12 has more power than the HP11 though slightly heavier than the 11. The 12 I’ve got is a manual and the 11 was a multitronic CVT. I’ve only had couple of mechanical repairs with the P11 with its stay with me for 1.5 years, and touchwood not a single repair with the 12 yet. Interior looks great in both with sports fabrics leather wrapped steering and gear knobs and more. My HP11 did 7-8 (I’ve a heavier foot) and extremely good on outstations in the 6th gear could do 12+ and doing around 8 in the HP12 in city. If you ask me the question which one I like best… The answer is P11. Great styling, great handling ++ Then comes the HP 12 with more power, 6 speed with 10k RPM. Really good interior and newer generation. If you wanna go for a P12, go for a manual and in P11 go for either manual or a multitronic. Don’t worry abt the CVT if you can change your CVT oil in time and if you don’t really abuse the car. & if you can always go for the HP’s since they’ve got oomph. Both great cars all around.

I saw this on the road couple of months back, may be on the test. I didn't like the lights much. Rear and front lights looks too small in size compared to the size of the vehicle. But the bus looks really nice.

We got a memo today (hand delivered) by the Public Health Department. In the letter it says that we have to repair the road facing building fronts, walls etc and colour wash them. This is to give a face-lift for the city during the SAARC V*P motorcades. This was given to all the road front buildings. In the letter they are kindly requesting us to do this but end of the memo it says “under the municipal council amendment no 54, they have the right to notify us on such repairing”. It’s like a threat that you should do it. I asked MOH how many buckets of paints they are giving to do this. Now only they’ve remembered that the city needs to be kept cleaned and nice.

Though every bank asks you to get the valuation report from DSM, I don’t think they do a good job. I must tell that they are very rude since they almost have the monopoly in the category, don’t really care abt the customers. They’re ok with valuing standard cars like Corollas, Nissan FB’s or N’s or any other standard versions. But when it comes to other rare versions and other brands (BMW’s, Subaru’s….) they’re not good with their valuations. They don’t test drive a vehicle to see the condition), & if the car is more than 5 years old they de value it so much. I have seen some valuation reports with very high values for cars not older than 5 years though they’re hacked. And very much lower valuations on very well maintained older cars. Generally DSM often overvalues vehicles and sometimes undervalues them. No real standard or guideline. There’s another place in Col 15 which does a good job, but bit far from the Colombo centre. That place is also recognized by banks.

Is it financially viable??? If you do the whole house in solar energy, you’ll have to wait for 25 years to cover the cost. But if you use lot of hot water for bathing & things like that, definitely it’s cheaper to use a smaller solar thermal heating system. We use this in one of our offices and it has a big impact on the electricity bill.

Yeah… got it bit crossed. But Still IOCs’ Diesel is expensive than CEYPETCO… correct? I don’t understand this statement. I was under the impression that they’re making profits on Petrol and losses in Diesel. According to this they’re making losses in both, this is contradicting with earlier statements by other officials.

Last couple of weeks in every newspaper (govt.) first page carried out news on increasing of fuel prices in other countries. From today midnight onwards IOC is reducing diesel prices by 10 rupees. Why do I get a strange feeling on this? Are they trying to comfort us a bit before a sharp increase???? Guys ready for the worst…
