The Alfa puts out roughly 210BHP and weighs give or take 1500KG Mine originally had 150 and the upgrades should take it to around 215-220 or thereabouts (haven't dynoed) and it weighs about 1400Kg Should be close (although my brakes are better, eh vvti? )

Ok im in so the List now is. 1- Watchman - Ek3 VI-RS (buddies: 2002 vios A/T, 2004 NZT240 A/T, 1994 honda CRX) 2- Jdnet - 1999 EK3 (turbo- without NOS) 3- Jami - 1988 minicooper (i have this only) 4- Elvis- Prius (also one friend with a Honda Insight) 5- MD- Honda civic? 6- VVTI - alfa 3.o v6 stock 7- S_N - VW Passat 1.8T Tiptronic with MTM chip and upgraded Turbo

Not looks wise, but its very practical in the space utilization department and supposedly quite fun to drive too...

The stories are all the same, the engines wear out quickly in local conditions (150,000-200,000KM is the mileage they crap out at.) Also, usage of normal diesel often causes the check engine light to come on and the engine to lose power, Rebuilding these engines (properly that is) will cost over 500k, and parts are pretty costly as well (So far) The 3.0L engine is 1KD-FTV, the 2.5L is 2KD FTV D4D is just a brand name that toyota use on the Common Rail engines. Diesel 4 Cylinder Direct injection

Has been reported several times, once on this thread itself... A friend who has a lot of experience fixing Toyotas has told me quite a few stories about the 1KD. When I was looking for a Hiace some time back he recommended the 2KD motor. Followed his advice and I'm quite happy with it. It does everything you'd expect a van engine to do.

Powerful it may well be but that engine wears out rapidly in SL conditions.

Speed is not the point genius, even a Maruti 800 is capable of reaching the speeds required for our expressway. What matters most for safe highway driving are things like stability and handling prowess, both areas in which the Prius and it's ilk aren't really noted for. which is why the germans always make good highway cars.

Maybe slightly down on power compared to the 3.0 Liter 1KD, but when compared to the old 3L and 5L that you find in the dolphins, its in a different league!

Wouldn't that mean eco centric penalty boxes like your Prius are automatically at a disadvantage?
