  1. And Lo! there were Accords! http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=42403 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=51950
  2. YMMV of course, but with these cars it ALWAYS pays to take them to someone who knows how they work. Im sure your mechanic is a "good guy" but since when has ANY mechanic in SL admitted that something is beyond his scope? They will ALWAYS say "Mahaththaya, karala balamu" and in the case of VW's and most other euro cars that is often a recipe for disaster. In the long term, it makes MUCH more sense to go to someone who specializes in them.... Unless of course you want the thing to turn into money pit that will quickly drive you loony!
  3. There is a specialist named indika who has a good reputation, he generally has parts. Be warned though, once the Alfa bug bites, there is no tuning back! (so I've heard )
  4. Of the more "out there" choices, you can easily get yourself an Alfa 155 for this budget IF you find a good example. I know a couple of guys who have 155s as their daily runners and they are doing pretty well. On a more sensible note, a late 80's Accord sounds like a nice option. VVti used to have one so he can tell you what they are like to use.
  5. Im going to guess that you're sticking with the Nissan theme... an RZ1?
  6. Floor is open to anyone who wants to post.
  7. Never heard of the brand. Doubt it's available here. Proceed with extreme caution.

The reason the price came down was because his initial price was way higher than the market value of the car. He probably realized that and decided to be more realistic. As for the fuel consumption, well it's really no different from someone like yourself with an FB15 Automatic who claims it does 12Km/l in colombo when its time to sell the thing.
  9. My goodness here's another one crawling out of the woodwork! Last I checked, it was MADZ who owned the forum, most people here ARE aware of that. What you're hoping to achieve with this comment is beyond me.
  10. Bluebird U12. The pic is of the rarer hardtop model.
  11. Well you heard wrong... they do sell 95 octane, as well as something called "95 extra premium" which is 95 octane with additives of some sort. The standard "extra premium" is what you're referring to.
  12. Err probably because the dude who replied is a noob who can't yet tell his A** from his elbow (in terms of operating the forum). Sigh, what is with the sheer volumes of retards on AL these days..
  13. Daihatsu Midget
  14. If you're worried about maintaining it I'll give it to you straight: old VW/Audis do need regular attention and it isn't going to be cheap. However, if you find the right car I doubt it'll be any WORSE than the B4 to Maintain.
  15. Welcome back oh oracle of Sri Lankan economics... How we've missed you and your own special brand of Asshattery!
  16. You are kidding right? CASKA is higher quality than Pioneer or Kenwood? in what universe may I ask?
  17. I think the black car is from one of the final years of production and the Kit is probably non original as well. The Spraymech car was apparently a Brand New import through the Toyota agents of the time (Freudenberg if I recall right.) Based on what I've heard (unconfirmed mind you) it was not the only one they brought in. 14 Sri would put it at about '86-'88.
  18. There is at least two others that are known of... the Spraymech people own a highly original 14 Sri car that is brownish silver. Then there's a Silver 300- example which is supposed to be a Turbo that is often seen around Wellawatta/Bambalapitiya. Identified by a cracked windscreen. And I recall some time back an Ad on TV for some kind of Tipi Tip ripoff also had a Mk3 Supra. Might well be the last car mentioned
  19. + 1 Million... What is it about Hybrids that attract so many retards? Heck it makes me yearn for the old days of "141 or Allion is better?" threads because the sheer numbers of loonies were far less. Now they just seem to be everywhere!
  20. Well logically, the Accord is a heavier car with a bigger engine, so yes it's likely that it will be SLIGHTLY thirstier than the eg8. Driving styles play a big role in fuel consumption figures though. My car averages about 6.5KM/L in the city with the driver at the wheel. When I drive it I usually manage to get about 8-8.5
  21. Do you mean the Mk4 or the older Mk3 with the Popup headlights?
  22. Yeah generally bad form to link to the specific ad... But by all means copy the text and paste without identifying the ad... IMO its harmless fun.
  23. Was the Swift designed in India?
