    Alfa Romeo

Thailand has classic alfa parts? now that's very interesting.... Was not aware of that... Hmmm.... you just set the wheels turning Gtam.... awakened an idea that i thought i had buried!
  3. Both of whom unfortunately discovered the meaning of "Friendly Fire" in the worst way possible....

    Alfa Romeo

mechanical bits are all right, interior trim and electric bits and such are a different story.... there aint no Italian Moss or Rimmer brothers unfortunately!

    Alfa Romeo

If it was from around wennappuwa or thereabouts, it will be missing most of the interior, and the headlamp motors...

    Experts

It isnt altogether surprising, Market forces really... as Euro cars get old, things tend to break/stop working, and most of those things (for example an electric motor for a seat) cost an arm and a leg to buy, IF you can find 'em! This sorta thing does tend to scare the average johnny off...
  7. Oh I wouldn't worry too much mate, Nilantha has a reputation around here for being the resident Chicken Little (for definition, see below) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sky_Is_Falling_(fable) But for your peace of mind, why not do that checkup anyway? Always better safe than sorry. P.S. as for that individual he mentioned in his post.... Well, let's just say the collective opinion AL members have of him is not very high either, so you'd be best advised to avoid going there. Anyway, let us know how it went Cheers
  8. and once again you have demonstrated exactly the extent of your knowledge... tell me, do YOU use a vios? have you PERSONALLY run one over a period of time, done oil changes correctly, and seen sludge formation? Would really like to know if this is the case, or if it's simply another of your "Expert" opinions based on, as it usually turns out, not very much at all. Do keep in mind the old adage "A fool looks the same as any other person, until he opens his mouth".
  9. Fab roads there.... good ones for the Z
  10. ARRRGHHHH EYE BLEACH!!! EYE BLEACH!!! seriously dude, where in the name of all thats unholy did you turn that up? on second thoughts, dont answer that...
  11. DUUUUDE!! that is just WRONg man!!
  12. was just made aware that you had recently gotten rid of a Carina, so obviously that's not a choice.... There were a couple of decent Foresters on the market, The old model of course... Think there's one within your budget on the AL classifieds, Im not entirely convinced an Oldish forester is the best vehicle for the "family hack" requirement, but it's an idea nonetheless. an ES Generation Honda Civic is also a very decent machine, Devinda will disagree vehemently, but IMO it's worth at least a look.
  13. woahhh..... never thought the day would come dude, but yeah seriously, been telling you for AGES what you were missing! As for Navigate/Fuel bill, sigh... business as usual i suppose
  14. Haha, case of chickens coming home to roost here... back in the days when BMW were doing crisp, clean designs like the E30,34,36,39 etc, lots of so-called euro "Motoring Experts" were B**ching about their cars looking "Boring"..... well Mr Mangle certainly sorted THAT out, but at quite some cost...
  15. Lol, you seem to have had a few bad experiences there mate but you do raise a fair point, in certain situations being a Petrol-head DOES kinda alienate the fairer sex, but the key thing is, It doesnt always happen. There are a fair few women who can appreciate interesting cars and guys who have them, and I've found that certain women are extremely tolerant of the whole petrolhead thing, even going so far as to make the odd expression of interest themselves! I've been lucky that way i guess One thing i've noticed though, With the fairer sex, Classics gather a lot more positive attention from the "right" sort of girl, than something with wings/fins/strobe lights/fart cannons and multi-billion decibel sound systems.
  16. I asked that question in all seriousness machan, But would be more than willing to pitch in and give a hand to get the show on the road if we really are doing it... So, shall we organize a meetup?
  17. Bollocks, there is a large difference between ASKING prices, and what people are actually going to pay y'know..... An LN106 is worth about 1.6-1.7 million at present, and a 107 (Full spec) will fetch about 2 - 2.2 Million. Its the later ones that cost ridiculous amounts of money. @ Prad, Have you considered a Carina? not exactly the most interesting car on the face of the planet, But solid, dependable, and will take many many years of abuse...
  18. Well the so called "Carpocalypse" has claimed it's first victims..... http://jalopnik.com/tag/gm-viability-plan/?id=5155377 GM has announced that Saturn the "different kind of car" will cease to exist after this product cycle... http://jalopnik.com/tag/saturn/?id=5155957 While Saturn barely popped up on petrolhead radar, the other casualties from GM are rather more serious.... No1 is the news that Pontiac, they of the GTO and the Firebird, will no longer continue as a separate division.... but MIGHT survive as a name only on some generic GM products.... I can see that working out great... http://jalopnik.com/tag/pontiac/?id=5155904 Saving the absolute worst for last, comes today's body blow that the only part of GM that made cars people actually WANTED (including the Brilliant Corvette ZR1 and Cadillac CTS-V both of which even fervently Anti-American Jeremy Clarkson and James May conceded were great) is also going the way of the dodo. Sayonara to GM's High Performance Vehicle Operation..... Thankfully EXISTING Performance cars will continue (Including the two mentioned above), there just wont be any new ones... http://jalopnik.com/tag/high-performance-v...ons/?id=5156124 Dark times indeed
  19. Nah D_Z will deff bring the car, IF shotgun seat provides funding to brim the tank!! Personally I doubt the spit will make it that far (not confident enough about it yet).... so i'm hoping some kind soul will let me call shotgun
  20. Many happy returns of the day bro!
  21. repost
  22. Well it currently is no more than a concept, so i'll wait to see if they can productionise it at a reasonable price before I make a call Very nice idea though..
  23. Hey mate, yeah the green spit IS mine, have had it for about 7 months, was doing it up for about 5 months altogether..... just got it on the road when the clutch went, so it's currently back off the road! As to parts, well some mechanical stuff is relatively easy to find if one trawls a couple of scrap yards and does a few rounds of panchikawatte. There was a lot of parts interchangeability on old british cars, and parts for various austins and morisses are still freely available. Some things (like the clutch) are a little less easy to come by unfortunately, and its those that provide a real headache.... This mind you is only in Sri Lanka.... in an international context the spitfire is one of the best supported of all classics, with companies such as Rimmer Brothers Ltd carrying all the parts needed to build a car from the ground up! Their prices aren;t really too bad and the current exchange rate means they work out reasonable to buy.... Shipping however, is another matter entirely, which is why i'm currently trying out all local sources before going that route....
  24. VW Micro bus perhaps? any clues? you SURE its not a 2 door right?
