  1. one of D_z's personal prefs... bloke isnt a big fan of hatches
  2. Well the ES1 is an AUTO... so it IS likely to be less economical than a MANUAL EK3 do keep in mind that the ES1 is a slightly heavier car than the EK3 as well.
  3. Not to burst your bubble or anything mate, but it IS kinda easy to Paint on the "RS Stripes".... and two door escorts were available for every model, even the bargain bucket 1.1L! only sure fire way of telling that it is an original is by checking the numbers, as even the Wheel Arch Flares that are signature to the RS and Mexico cars can be done up.... Having said that, would love to see your "Junkyard Jewels" list if you dont mind sharing it... please drop me a mail on [email protected] Cheers!
  4. Bollocks I only wish i had that kinda resources at hand! @ Dilesh, actually machan, just behind the petrol shed is a specialist Volkswagen Mechanic, he often parks the cars that he cant fit into the garage on that bare plot of land... this blue bug is one of those...
  5. 20 KMp/l in colombo is a bit of a fantasy im afraid mate.... and so is 18... realistically the VERY best you can get is around 14-15 as the guys have mentioned... and even that is not all that certain.. So if fuel really is that much of an issue, I suppose you may need to start reconsidering your transport requirements.
  6. No it wasn't... this appears to be one of those bizzare Sri Lankan naming conventions.... Remember those old Morris Oxfords with the fins? they happened to have a Badge engineered MG Version which was called the "Farina Magnette".... perhaps Pininfarina were involved im not sure.. Anyway since the W110 series Mercs also had fins, It's more than likely that somebody decided to bestow it with the "Farina" Moniker
  7. Yup Your turn
  8. Umm... well it's English, from the late 1950's
  9. Miniace has already got that one care to take a shot at the one above?
  10. Ok here goes
  11. Second one is a Ferrari 275 GTB 4 cam (275 GTB/4) Dunno 'bout the first though, looks like a custom or a kit job maybe....
  12. Spot on Miniace!! Also Known as the Merc "Fintail" or for some bizzare reason "Farina" Model Your turn
  13. The 911s have an even more serious manifestation of "sub variant Plague" than your average JDM ubercar, so this would be a fairly tough ask IMO... Basic rules of course are that anything with "RS" in the badging means usually the most extremely track focused variant GT3s and GT2s are the Racing tie ins (ordinary GT3s are less extreme than GT3 RS') GT2s generally have a breathed on 911 Turbo motor with RWD 911 Variants really do require an entire evenings worth of discussion in themselves
  14. You haven't missed anything... The very first AWD 911 was the 964 Series carrera 4 (the 964 being the variant before the 993). In that generation the 911 Turbo was still RWD, it was only with the introduction of the 993 series that the Carrera 4S model (with more power and, I think, a wider rear body) was created, along with the first of the AWD 911 Turbos The only other AWD Porker is the rare 959
  15. Ohhhh no.... You're not getting away with That!! if you make a statement like "Do Not Buy FB15".... then you had damn well better be prepared to justify your case Understand? so go ahead, tell us what your facts are.... we're all listening.
  16. Okay gents... give this a shot... Shouldnt be all that difficult
  17. The thing with the Allion is that it actually is a somewhat superior car to the corolla... The Allion and equivalent Premio were actually the replacements for the Corona/Carinas, which were from the class above the corolla I've driven and been in several 121s and also a couple of Allions and I have to say that the Allion is a better car... Ride comfort, Noise suppression and general quality of build and materials all feel considerably superior to a 121.
  18. Mitsubishi Minica perhaps? The ZZ Dangan version... Edit: Yep, sure looks like a ZZ dangan alrite http://autospeed.com/cms/A_2705/article.html If Im right, the tech involved was that The ZZ dangan's engine, the Mitusbishi 3G81, was the world's First Five Valve per cylinder motor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Mi...ifth_generation
  19. If its the car that was in the #####, then i think its a done up car.... I believe you and were supposed to go take a look at it, but didnt due to it being somewhere beyond Malabe or summin'
  20. The orange Car might be aiming for a Rally Replica look I'm guessing just to add a small note: both those cars started life as 1300GTs they've had engine swaps to 1600 Crossflows... Neither are Twincam motors, but they have Weber carbs apparently
  21. You would the hilux you mentioned btw, Is it actually a 4x4? thought the single cabs were only 2wd?
  22. Dont you have to study? Here btw, I;m not sure the 288 GTO Evoluzione was a RALLY car.....
  23. Mazda MX-3 Maybe?
  24. Looking Great MeanGreen.... all the best for the remaining work, can you give us a rundown of what your plans for her are?
