Hi All,

I have Toyota Passo, there is a problem with the Key (I exactly don't know weather problem is with the Key) problem is, when I switch off totally then I cannot switch on back,I have to put some big effort to switch on that, even I switch on when dashboard indicate the light (Horizontal car), then engine is not starting. Then I have to switch off and try, when that particular dashboard light is switch off then I can start the Engine, I need to fix this problem immediately, If someone can give me a advice it'll be helpfull.

Regards

Amila

I too have seen this problem in a passo of one of my friend.

When u put the key and try to start it feel like the key cylinder is stucked and a red coloured indicater (a small car with key inside) is on and the auto gear knob also stucked.

They call for an auto electrician (Sujith Electricals-Matara)and they removed the key cylinder and it was unlocked by doing hot-wiring.

It was just 15min job but I felt they charged too much (Rs4000/= might be because they had to travel 30km but i feel it is still too much, but their works are very good )

dodgy key barrel for sure and it activates immobiliser function "assuming" it's a wrong key trying to break open. Correct solution would be new barrel with a new key programmed by agents (if they cannot repair the barrel) but this will cost an arm and leg, suggest you take the path of nano31s friend took. Cannot guarantee the immobilizer function will work afterwords if they bypass certain circuit

It was not my car friends; but this happened at my brother's service station so I was there.

Wat they did was they just did some hot-wiring and "unlock" the system and reinstall the barrel. it works fine there after but I am not sure if all those security functions did worked there after. That car had the finger-print identification function yet it was never activated or used

They said this might happen then you try to switch off the car while the auto gear not in the "P" position.

The place is Sujith Electricals Matara (0412229016) (@ godwinAmila, I think you are from Western Province so this info might not useful).

I think Passo if famous for this key problems!
