I went under the car yesterday to find out that right steering rack boot was torn. I inspected it becuase of a noise I recently started to hear from Front right wheel when driving. The frequency and the intensity of the noise increases with the speed, (Though the volume of this noise is very low, can be heard clearly when there is a wall or a building next to the right side :) ) I checked and found no foreign objects to cause this noise. And it doesn't go away when I apply brakes, which means it's not a noise of a brake pad as a mechanic said. What could be the issue guys ? BTW The noise is more or less like clapping/fapping. :angel-smiley-002:

Are you sure its the steering boot and NOT the CV joint boot which is torn? 'cos if it's the latter, then you've probably got some damage on the CV joint, which might explain the clacking sound. Also is the frequency once per wheel revolution or more?

Yes mate, the CV boot(where the wheel connects to the axle) is fine, and the Steering boot is kinda torn, Steering boot cannot make sucha a noise right ? :)

BTW it's a CLAPPING/fapping ;) kinda noise, not clacking. Yes the frequesncy of noise is same as the wheel revolution

Indeed, the steering rod boot cannot make such a noise. Jack the front of the car and rotate the wheel by hand and see if you can recreate the noise. Then, take the wheel off and inspect the entire rotating assembly, in particular check the disc splash guard and if anything is hitting it. Beyond that I'd suggest you take your regular mechanic for a drive and pinpoint the noise to him.

Taking it on this weekend, btw most Pickups/Jeeps with biga*s tires make this noise :)
