why does a Toyota Corolla 2003 cost $3000 in US and $38k in Sl. A 300% hike?

Wow you are really bad at maths, 300% of $3000 is $9000 not $38000.

Do they have "tuition sirs" in US ? if so i recommend getting 10 of them for you

A brand new 2012 Prius in the US including all taxes is about $25,000 = Rs 3.2 million.

When Toyota Lanka starts selling the 2012 Prius in June it will probably be at least Rs. 6+ million. Double the US price.

A used 2008 Prius in US starts at about $12,000 = Rs 1.5 million

A used 2008 Prius in SL starts at about Rs 3.5 million. More than double.

US not like SL, Usually they give their next year's Models and it's prices in mid December of every year, So if Economy doesn't change much they continue that price through out the year. SL cannot do that because we depend on overseas imports, So priceses cannot be compared between US and SL.

U.S prices for the next model year are set and announced throughout the year, but often in the August to Nov time frame for the next years continuing models.

And overseas people who are looking to purchase a car in SL naturally compare the SL car prices to the price of a similar vehicle in their home market. It's only natural to do a rough price comparison between countries. Just as a local person visiting overseas naturally converts the prices of things in that country to rupees and then compares those prices to SL prices.

I think comparing two different economical countries good's and service prices isn't success. As a example petrol prices between Italy and SL are same in Rupees. But in Italy economy and Salaries in their jobs petrol price isn't high to them compared to us.

Not the point, you didnt multiply the figure by 300% correctly !

How in the World can you get a toyota land cruiser on a $25k permit, but without it it costs $135k-$250k is that a 3x or 10 x the US price? A 2010 Camoro in US = $ 15-20K but here more than 18 million. :(

Listen kiddo obviously your brain cant comprehend how the tax schemes works in SL, why dont you try something more your speed like "One little, two little, three little Indians Four little, five little, six little Indians"

Blitz you do know you're about to get kicked into the spartan pit for not knowing how to differentiate between a Ferrari and Beamer, right?

nono, i think he might be referring to this cos there was some discussion about this car and how its ownership changed under a MR2 name or something like that..

Lets give the poor guy a break and blame it on his failure to describe what he found rather than blast him on his inability to recognize the make/...
