I'm sure you already know that advertising on the forum is not allowed. And furthermore it's not cool! You're asking for trouble if you're doing it intentionally.

We'll leave it to the Joint Mods to decide.

yeah I saw they have deleted my previous posts also, no worries. Hope you are satisfied Supra.

I have no intention of advertising here, even the mods and others can search the previous posts I have made and check whether I have advertised before.

I just wanted to highlight how to validate the auction vehicle with the actual vehicle they got.

In 2011 I saw to my own eyes, where a 2008 model light blueish toyota axio x grade special edition was being converted into a G grade at the Indra traders workshop in slave island. What they did was only changing the badge where the price will increase by about 4 lakhs. There were many who never knew that the original G grade came with push start while x grade with key start. Even vehicle valuers don't indicate any repairs for accidents in their valuation sheet. Why this poeple are so dishonest?

I once came across an unregistered Prado from a Car Sale getting converted with chrome body lines, "winker mirrors" and various other accessories at Elcardo Nawala.

They basically take a drill out and start drilling away into the body with all sorts of chrome add-ons i guess to inflate market value or possibly to convert a GX into a TX or VX or who the hell knows.

I am one of those people who always preferred a brand new imported vehicle with no "push start", winker mirrors, reverse cameras, parking sensors and all that panchikawatta add-ons.

People are out to scam you anywhere in the world but the car sale mafia in Sri-Lanka is one of a kind.

out of 10 vehicles I saw, 8 of them had fake auc grades (some even claimed 5AA, when it was really an R) they were immaculate but unfortunately most them had replaced parts, and repainted.

Do not trust anyone in Sri Lanka, unless you check the real auction grade yourself, and by checking it at Toyota.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to start this discussion to increase awareness regarding the increased number of cheaters & crooks in the vehicle market in Sri Lanka. By posting information on the person or organization involved with the Mal-practice along with the bad experience will definitely help many citizens who expect an honest job for the money they pay. As we know vehicle related manipulations & Mal-practices are very high, many get caught without knowing it & end-up paying unreasonable amounts to these crooks.

Therefore by stating such information along with the culprit will enable the users of this forum to make better decisions next time. After all we just can't let these crooks keep on cheating forever.

Disclaimer - This is done with the intention of creating awareness among the public & not creating any disgrace or dishonor to any person or organization. But I believe that it is their responsibility to provide a quality reliable & a honest service for the money they charge.

Thanks! :sleeping-smiley-001:

1. We already have such a thread

2. Conmen exist as long as idiots exist. If people are willing to pay a premium for G-grades, Super Saloons for perfectly useless functions. etc. or are willing to save pennies, then naturally con-men will make use of these opportunities.

Mods - do we really need this thread?

I agree with Don on this, that unproven allegations (which most of them are) dont help. If you can say, "XYZ car sale sold me This Prius saying it's grade 5, here's the auction sheet they showed me, but here's the real one I got from Japan" (with simple photos as proof) I dont think there's anything wrong. Same goes for car owbers who find their cars for sale within weeks with the mileage halved.

Then again, it's upto MADZ to decide if he's ok with it, but either-way we all said "i agree" to the terms n conditions stating that we're responsible for the sh!t we say and not the forum owner.

If your paying a price for a vehicle, it has to match the price according to the actual auction grade, if its an AUC grade 5, I would want to pay for an 5, if I wanted a R or a lower auction grade I can buy it for half the price, Everybody pays a price and if your doing busines it has to be the right way.

There is no point talking about the wrong way or the right way. Even in developed countries people operate on the concept "Buyer be aware". The only difference there is if you realise you have been scammed and can prove it, you can sometimes take the matter up with a consumer authority or small claims court, but I can tell you its not easy or straight forward.

So a better way to look at this whole scenario is before you make a purchase, make sure you make a lot of inquries, do your research, have the vehicle inspected by the agents or a company which specialises in it and if possible your own trusted mechanic. Since we all know these scams exist, you need to take responsibility to make sure you don't get scammed.

I'm sorry to sound harsh but thats the reality of life. And believe me, I have been scammed too, so you are not alone in this at all. We all learn from our mistakes, and as long as it doesn't happen again, lets put the cost of our mistake to a lesson well learned.

Today in AL classified appeared a perodua Kelisa HV-18**. I used this car from 2005 to 2009. at the time of disposing, the car has clocked 140000Km. Now in the add seller mentions the millage as 60000km. :sad-smiley-067:

Only dumbest people would believe that kind of mileage for a 2004 model vehicle

Apart from a few rare exceptions ( I have seen some cars owned by retired uncles who use it for the occasional drive to church/temple or the monthly medical checkup ) 2004/5 ish vehciles with that kind of milage is usually fake.

We have such vehicle in our home :). An Alto 2011 used by my mother in law just to occassionally go to nearby town 6Km away and it's still at 4200Km. Who's gonna believe that when it comes to selling? (Alto btw)

Ah! My favourite type of car purchase: An older low mileage car run by an aunty or uncle who use it occasionally and have it maintained at the agents (preferably, but not essential) by a young gun in the family who is a car enthusiast (essential). Now if only this were a larger sedan with more space in the rear I'd be hounding you for the car :D
