iRage
The Libero is what Mitsubishi decided to name their wagon/van...so you anyone with a Lancer CB Japanese import that has the same engine (1.5/1.6/1.8/2.0 L) should be able to tell you what the engine and transmission is generally like. If I am not mistaken the Libero got the 1.5L and 1.6L engines only towards the latter model ? Are you buying a WAGON variant or a VAN variant ? In Sri Lanka people call everything with the body style wagon...but in reality they are different although the body shape is the same. Wagons are for passenger transport...so has nice seats (like in the sedan) in the back and has "full upholstery" from front all the way to the cargo area. The van is for goods transport so the rear seat is thin and has "half upholstery" in the cargo area (so you see the metal on the sides, etc...as for the front..if it is a higher grade then the front might have full upholstery. The Lancer is a prety durable car (thus, the Libero shoud be too). I haven't heard of any serious problems with the Lancer CB (you know..bad problems that make people run miles away from it). You are looking at a car that is 25 years old..whether the car will be or bad depends on how well the last owner and the ones before that took care of the car. If the car is honest (no hidden body work of crashes, rolled back mileages, cheap repair work for a quick sale) and had regular servicing and pre-empive maintenance work at the right time with right parts, etc...the car should be pretty reliable and will just have aged related issues that you will periodically need to attend to and carry pre-emptive maintenance on. Being simpler cars, these pre-emptive maintenances, etc are not rocket science and can easily be done.
