Hey I need some help.

Cops kissed my car from behind. Badly damaged look like need replacement of the luggage compartment and the buffer. My insurance is paying for it ? but i don't know where to get it fixed.

The agent is asking 380K + 1 month repair time. but insurance pay 35 % less. Magcity is asking 175K ? + 7 days. Mr. paint say can't repair, because of the size of the damage.

is there any other recommended collision repair centers ? any recommendations.

Pls help

I know a small time tinkering+Paint guy who does really good job for very reasonable price. PM me if you need the contact. His place is near Navinna.

Hi mate! Its sad to hear the situation. There is a place in Welisara-Ragama 13km from Colombo. I did a collision repair there recently and ended up sending two more cars for tinkering and painting there.A first-class job done and highly recommended.

They did an amazing collision repair on my CR42, where all bodyshops recommended a complete back and side panel replacement. This team completely opposed the body cut-and replace thing since it reduces the overall strength of the back especially in a van. Will post before and aft photos of this wonder work soon.

The Proprietor and many technicians are with recent Japanese experience. They all worked there and came down recently. Good equipment they have. If interested drop me a note.

2K from CIC/ICI is one of the better paints and always has been better than Rock afaik

i think they had a cheaper version - Duco

other alternatives are "De Beer" & "Sikkens" (which Kleenpark exclusively uses)

Hi Miniace,

I think it would be very helpful for the readers if you can post some pics of these guys work.

I've been trying to find a good painter/tinkerer for a very long time. So many places i tried, but the main problem is almost all the guys donno the meaning of a quality finish. Even though they state years of experience crap. They will promise u the sun n the moon n charge accordingly but the finish is no where close to the original paint.

for instance Orange peel all the painters i came across donno how to reduce this. Another issue grains. If u check closely the original paint n the local u will see the original is super smooth, where the local will have uneven metallic parts n uneven or rough surface. ad to this untidiness, suppose if their painting the fender they end up spraying beading's n fender guards etc.

I have tried the leading companies like Auto Mirage, KP, Mr.P, Mag C etc all the same i would say. some better than the other but none can get the factory finish or anything close.

If some one or a place can come close to the original, i think its worth traveling anywhere in the country to get a good job done.

Now, Miniace would appreciate your comments n pics.

Thanks

Didn't wanna open a new thread, so just continuing on this one. Anyone know how much it would cost to acquire and fix a left front fender for a Toyota Tercel wagon (The old boxy one) A friend of mine had an accident with a three-wheeler, just wondering how much it'll cost to fix.

Hi Guys

Need a bit if urgent advice.

Met with a accident last week and the left front fender, fron bumper, left headlight, left side mirror, mudguard need to be replaced. Tinkering required for the hood, door and other fender. Some work maybe required for the suspension as per Staffords. There estimate is 445K cos they billed for new doors, hood, mirros etc(and painting). My cost will be about 85-90K after insurance.

Please advice if you guys know anywhere\anybody within colombo. I can run around hunting for parts as I will be in hospital from tomo for surgery to fix broken cheekbone and nose!

Appreciate your help.

Firstly Wish you a speedy recovery machang...

Secondly, going to the agent would be the easiest option..

But you should be able to do it a lot cheaper if you source some 2nd hand parts and do the repair with a small-timer tinker.. Ideal is if you can get a close family member to look into this and supervise while you're out... cos even after you're back walking around delkanda in the hot sun and dust, with stitches and all might not be the best option...

sorry to hear this mate and why would you need to run around if agents are taking care of the repair and restoring the car to it's previous state? Can't you try to negotiate with insurance to settle the full amount as it's a genuine incident and agents prices always carries a value than an estimation from an ordinary joint.

Hi NPrimera

Yes , You may force Insurance to pay in full at the agent, as long as you have not under valued car for insurance :)

once this happened to my uncles' swift he argued with the insurance fellow and got approval for agent price

you need to be little talkative  a bit so you may not give any excuse for insurance guy to avoid you :D

thanks

Hi Rebel.. Get well soon.

The reason the insuarence does not cover the full amount is that they use brand new body parts (AFAIK). And agents does not use used body parts. And Insurence will pay only for depriciated value for the new body parts depending on the YOM of the vehicle. So if you can find a good place with used parts, total cost will be able to recover.

It being a honda, i dont think finding parts in delkanda would be that big an issue (unless its a relatively old car)...

I don't recommend KP to anyone fellows... I got my 121 painted there... believe me when i say it... There quality of work was very bad... I had to get it repainted by Auto Miraj as the colors didn't match... Only plus point in KP is they complete the work on time and you don't have to worry of leaving your car out there as they have 24x7 security... And the prices are high too... But I didn't mind that as i was paid by my insurance...

Thanks guys for the wishes.

I understand the reason Insurance (Aviva in my case) wont pay for BN parts. Don't think I can talk my way in to them paying more although I might be able to negotiate some of the changes\points.

I though about this but I don't have anybody who can do this :(.

Its a 2000 ES8.

@ Harshana, its the cost that made me wanna look at other options. My contribution for the whole repair works to about 90K. Also initially they wanted to replace anything remotely affected by the accident such as the door and the hood both of which only suffered "slight" dents

@Peri, didn't try Kenzo. Do they use recon parts without me having to provide them and will they maintain quality (at least in the finish). CRC is in Jaela right?

Today I went in to Staffords and spoke to the head foreman(Kusumsiri) he agreed to repair certain parts which they originally wanted to replace (door and hood) and to use recon parts if I source them(mirror, fender, bumper and headlight). I thought this was the best option as I have been assured that the agents are the best people to do the job. Guess apart from the relative hassle of hunting for the parts at Delkanda this makes sense yeah?
