Anon
How refreshing to finally see someone who's looking to buy something interesting for a change! I salute you sir! In response to your question, things that I would suggest (in no particular order) Alfa Romeo 33 (you can find an excellent example well within your budget with cash to spare!) Alfa Romeo 155 (might have to stretch a little bit but still doable) Austin/Morris 1100 Ford Escort Mk1 (Get the two door) Honda CRX First Generation (Absolute blast to drive but ultra rare) Mazda RX7 First generation (Loads of fun if you can find one with the Rotary intact) Mazda Astina (Reliable, good looking and fun to drive) Volvo 340 (Rear Transaxle means ideal weight distribution and therefore hooning potential) Volvo 740/940 (Big, comfy, safe and cheap with buckets of character!) Mercedes W114/115 (The good old "box" mercs. Staid but characterful... And if you find a W114 Six cylinder, you'll have a nice engine as well) Mercedes W116 280S (Proper Panzerwagen...There's one in nice nick for sale right now just past boralesgamuwa) A Mini (obvious choice) Beetle 1303 Here are some links on AL Ford escort 1300GT (Upgraded to Mexico spec apart from the motor) http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=52013 I used to own this very car, before all the mods. Mini Clubman http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=52576 Morris 1100 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=51572 Thanks Supra! Appreciate your suggestions, and like all of them except the Astina. :-) Now the hunt begins.

csp
Hello guys, am thinking of going for my first car in Sri Lanka, and wondering you guys could help me out with this need. following are the conditions: 1. Budget is around 2.5 Mn LKR 2. am concerned about fuel economy 3. will drive daily about 30 Kms with heavy traffic either way (up and down) 4.consider about re-selling the car too after few years (say 4-5 yrs) 5. and need to be a affordable maintenance am thinking of Maruti K10 or second hand vitz 1000cc ,,, what will be the best option with above mentioned conditions. or is there any other good brand worth looking at ??? thank you all very much
Seeker LK
///Maruti K10// has very bad resale value. People buy Indian vehicles since it's brand new, you will have hard time selling it to another person after using it for a while. Vitz 1000 is a good choice but the pulling power won't be enough if you load the vehicle fully. Why don't you consider Demio 2007 / 08 / 09 / 10 models? They have better design and has good reputation. I'm planning on one for a while now.

SamG
My vote is on Demio too (obvious I guess ). But is this the correct thread for your question? Either you have your question answered on one of the posts or you need to create a separate thread. Otherwise we all are creating irrelevant content on this thread. This is how you effectively search on this forum (in case you need it): http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/15808-how-to-search-on-autolanka/ Good luck with your car hunt !!! AMI0755
Sorry for Reviwing an Old thresd. Looking for a second car arround 800,000. Own a Honda FIT. I have lot of bad experience on a Suzuki swift 2001, athough i was very generous to her/him , either the vehicle or the garage was not . Little bit concerned to take an old model. I want AT as well. Any thoughts on Cherry QQ, the ads says 'Company maintained'. How relaible 'The Company' (I*e*l Motors i assume) be if i take a car there for inspections. The adds say 2006, AT, arround 800,000 - 900,0000. Hope can nego a bit. Other options will be, 1 - a two door, Alto or March YoM 2000 or earlier. 2 - Small Korian car, Kia or Hyundai

terrabytetango
Ok I'm on the hunt for a second vehicle as well, but my requirements differ slightly from the norm; I need something to lug around my gear, and nothing else really. It will probably never ever drive out of Colombo, and will only be used once a week or less, therefore servicing might be neglected (forgotten). Cost is key here as I really don't want to spend any more than I have to. Current thoughts are a Corolla wagon of the KE variety, Alto (2 door Japanese variety preferable), Starlet EP8x, March K10/K11. Comments and suggestions appreciated as always.
