Hey guyz!

I wanted to buy a Toyota Celica (6th generation) ST203 (SS-I 4WS). But since its very rare here i'm thinking about buying one of the following:

Hyundai Tiburon Turbulence Coupe (RD2 1999–2001) - Manual transmission

Honda Civic EK3 - Manual transmission

Considering the following please let me know what you guyz think. Thanks.

Something around 1.9M

Sporty look - prefer coupe models (2 door is fine but 4 seater)

Manual transmission

Good fuel economy (around 11)

Tiburon Turbulence Coupe is very nice. But like to recommend EK3 out of above. But really want like sport look, consider "Toyota Marino" like cars also..

Just coz someone says something doesn't mean you should swallow it. Even Buddha said follow my philosophy only if it makes sense to you, not coz someone told you to.

Thanks for all your comments guyz, looks like i will have to go for a Civic.

Just wondering if anyone has the hyundai turbulence coupe. I have searched the forum but couldn't find much information about it. As far as i know it doesn't have a good resale value like most of the hyundai cars and have some electrical problems. Do you guyz know more about this?

Yeah, turbulence coupe looks great and looks exactly like the celica 6th gen but overall i think celica is a much better car than the turbulence coupe. Marino is a good car too, but as you said i can go for a better car like civic ek3 right?

The only problem i have about the civic is, its doesn't have the looks i need. Guess i can't have everything for my budget huh :action-smiley-060:

Maybe i can modify the civic later and make it something like this

Is there any reason you called it turbulence? From what I know its called Hyundai Coupe. I know most two door cars are called coupes but the actual name of this model is Coupe. In the States this model is known as Hyundai Tiburon, which is a translation from some foreign language to Shark, I read about it sometime back if your wondering how I know abt it. Turbulence is what you experience in mid air when planes go through air pockets.

(referring to a 2003 model) All I know is it comes in two engine capacities a V6 3litre and a 2.4 inline four. The GT comes with a 6-forward gearbox and I would say its decently fast for a car of that price and class. But the car depreciates really fast in value being korean and the interior is cheap plastic. I dont know about mechanics, but all in all a decent looking car saw one black advertised on AL sometime back.

Basically coupe means a closed car body style (compact), so most two or 2+2 seater sporty variants are called coupes right. And as you said in US its called Hyundai Tiburon but in South Korea this RD2 (1999–2001) was marketed as Tiburon Turbulence. Since there are several coupe versions available i prefer to call it Turbulence Coupe to avoid confusion with the other coupe versions such as this.
