Hey guys,

I need to get some repairs done on the interior of my car, which involves removing a lot panels and such. There is a DIY on the net, but it appears to be a rather big job and I'd like a professional to handle it. I need someone who knows what he's doing and would be very careful with the car. Are there any places you guys go to and/or would recommend?

Btw, if you can't post places or names here, please feel free to PM me.

Many thanks.

It's a 2002 Hyundai Tuscani. The thing is, the water drain pipes in the sunroof are known to come undone. This causes water to leak into unwanted areas like the rear speakers and most importantly, into the BCM, which is something I don't want to happen at all. About two days ago, I was driving in the rain and noticed some water trickling down near my rear speaker. :o

There are some other repairs to be done as well, such as fixing the sunroof sliding panel, but these are minor problems compared to what might happen if I don't get this leak fixed.

Its better to find a place which do a quality job even for a slightly higher price. Most of the garages in SL just go after the money and try to finish the job quickly sending quality down the drain. (One of my friends found the badges reverted upside down after a paint job!!! Ignorance!)

When it comes to interior trim, the repairman needs to be really patient as most of the panels are made up of plastic. Better find a good professional, or DIY would be the best approach.

My personal opinion is to take it to the company -- Hyundai-lanka --> as it sound a more than an ordinary job or DIY job. As you say - if this is an inherent problem of the Tuscani - the company will have the know-how to fix it.

A bit more expendeture will not hurt you in the long run

I already did. They say it'll take them at least two days to do it. And it is then that they will determine what's wrong and order spares. Those spares would take at least two weeks to get down here. So its kinda a waste of time.

The fixes to the problems are a simple ones, things which even I can do... it's just that I need someone with the necessary tools and know how and such to take the interior panels and seats out.

After reading your post - it can be seen that all or most of these companies tend to put off their customers - rather than entice them to do their repairs @ the company. :action-smiley-060: I can understand why you don't want to wait for over 02 weeks. If this is an inherent prob - they should be able to immediately diagnose and also have the required spares in hand to undertake the repair - without putting off their customers.

Ok - you sound quite confident that it can be handled with the help of the correct pro. There are certain places i can think of --but unfortunately i cannot recommend them as i haven't done any interior work with any. Hopefully someone will reply soon.

Yeah true. A person at the agents mentioned that they might not even be having the air filter for this particular car. Dunno whether that's true or not but it seems to me that they may not be equipped (spares-wise) to handle any repairs. And since owners can't enter the workshop, they might simply order new parts when the old ones can be fixed easily with materials available here.

at the same time expensive doesnt necessarily mean good either.. :)

Very true. But at least hanging around while the repairs are being done brings some peace of mind. Can't do that at the agents.

As for your problem the issues seems to be re-connecting the slipped off drain pipes to fittings. To do that, the entire hood will have to be ripped off. I think some reputed cushion house along Wijerama area will be able to do it. The agents are not alrounders.

We had a repeating repair involved with the air bag sensor located under the front passenger seat of the same vehicle. A windsceern replacement of a Matrix was so poor we got it changed after complaing.

I would say these are specialised jobs, which dont come in the repair manuals and stuff. There are other people who can manage them. But for those things requiring special diagnosis, reference to repair manuals ( engine, transmission, electrical and some undercarriage) it is always better to stick with the agents.
