Hi All,

I'm considering a Diesel/Manual Toyota Noah KR/CR 41/42 (Original Diesel or converted). One thing, I believe the 2C and 3C engine's on these things give adequate power, and fuel economy.

My concerns are on the following:

Repairs

Spares

Known problems

Reliability - Long term running/ long distance running.

Auto is definitely a no, so looking for your opinions before I make the final call.

Cheers.

Nilanka.

According to my mechanic the Noah is very popular because spare parts are readily available anywhere. I've used one and its quite easy to live with. Nomally front engined vans have loads off issues regardin engine access but in the noah everythin is within easy grasp not tucked under in the depths of the engine compartment like the delica or the serena!

And the 2C 1996cc engine is definitely a bit underpowerd! You can feel the strain under load. If you can go for the 3C but i think its a bit hard to find cz most of the vans out there are 2C. And most vans are manual converted. Very few come with original manual. Suggest you go for an auto.

Its a Toyota so its realiable! and easy to fix if it does break down! And has a good market value aslo.

Just to clarify a common misconception, the Noah variations are SR40/50 for petrol engines and CR40/50 for diesel engines. The diesels also came with a 3C-TE engine, and they're identifiable by the hood scoop on the front for the (small) intercooler.

SR 40/50 is the original NOAH. NOAH is the highest grade of these townace or liteace & most of the NOAH's running in Sri Lanka are not the original ones. They have converted the normal DX or GL van into NOAH if im not mistaken. KR 40/50 are Petrol & CR 40/50 are diesel vehicles.

Hi all

We have a KR42 diesel converted 3c engine mode. No issues with the van yet, and 2c engine does not have the enough pulling power needed for sudden overtakes. But 3c engine does not have any issue even with the A/C.

But a small issue i have seen almost all the AUTO cr42/kr42/cr41 vehicles is at low speeds engine revs at really high RPM before the power being distributed to the wheels, that means gears does not shift from 1st to 2nd until some time. I have seen this on almost all the auto models (around 10). Has anyone noticed this issue before and anyone knows where is the problem. :violent-smiley-030:

The other thing is engine compartment is not sound proof very well so that engine noise comes to the inside even more than vans having engines inside the vehicle such as Dolphins,CR27
