Timing Belt Or Chain

Hi Friends,

1. How to know that particular vehicle/ Engine has got "Timing Belt" OR "Timing Chain" ?

2. Have heard that if it's timing belt, it should be changed periodically & if chain, no need of changing. Is it true?

Look at the manual and it should say whether it's a chain or belt. Also, wise man says google is the best method for figuring out your problems. I forsee a favourable search result in your future.

What is the make and model of the car you are looking at?

BTW even chains need to be changed but at a significantly higher milage(something like 300,000 and up). Everything wears down and nothing in the automotive world lasts forever.

Timing chain also need to be changed the period is strictly depending on the engine you have, that differ from engine to engine best think you check with user manual that gives you exact period that it is to be changed
