If you have a performance engine, the best ones to go for are an ester based fully synthetic. I used to use Shell Helix 10W-40, but now changed to Silkolene Pro-S 5W-40. There was a noticeble difference, the engine hits the VTEC a lot quicker. They found that on a motor bike they got close to 4 bhp from changing the oil from a standard Fully Synthetic to Silkolene Pro-S. I'n not sure if you can get it in Lanka, but for those of you in the UK, you can order online at www.opieoils.co.uk I think they do international deliveries as well, but you have to call them.

I don't think that is going to be the New corolla, Toyota has been keeping it hush hush and no really been disclosing their direction for the corolla. Check out this link: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...yota_auris.html It seems the Auris will replace the Corolla. I've heard that they will bring out a Diesel Hot hatch version, using their 180 bhp 2.2 Diesel from the Rav-4 and tuning it to 200bhp. That would be Phat! Imahine all the torque in a mid sized hatch back.

Its true man! The new Corolla was meant to be launched around the same time as the new Civic. But when Toyota saw the Civic prototype, apparently the senior management ordered a redesign to make it look more radical.

Just from the last race you saw how good MS is. He qualified in 6th place with crap Bridgestone wet wheather tyres when the next Bridgestone was Massa at 13th. Clearly the Renault has more pace over the Ferrari, but its schumi's driving that wins him races.
-
Alonso is good but he's no way near Schumi.
-
Nice cars man! Have you guys dragged? Who's fastest?
-
Alright guys, you have my blessings.

Seen. So what do you reckon the 0-60 times of a standard 1.6 Type-R is? I thought it was around 6.9 seconds. Which is slower than a 2.0 Type-R at 6.6 seconds.
-
Not Sure which Civic Type-R you guys are talking about. If its the Euro Type-R, then check out the top gear lap times: 1 Koenigsegg CCX (with TG spoiler) 1.17.6 2 Pagani Zonda F 1.18.4 3 Maserati MC12 1.18.9 4 Ferrari Enzo 1.19.0 5 Ariel Atom 1.19.5 6 Porsche Carrera GT 1.19.8 7 Koenigsegg CCX 1.20.4 8 Ascari KZ1 1.20.7 9 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 1.20.9 10 Ford GT 1.21.9 11 Porsche GT3 RS 1.22.3 12 Ferrari 360 CS 1.22.3 13 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 1.22.4 14 Lamborghini Murcielago 1.23.7 15 Pagani Zonda 1.23.8 16 Noble M15 1.23.9 17 Koenigsegg 1.23.9 18 Prodrive P2 1.24.3 19 TVR Sagaris 1.24.6 20 TVR Tuscan 1.24.8 21 Mitsubishi Evo FQ 400 1.24.8 22 Noble 1.25.0 23 Lotus Exige S 1.25.1 24 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder 1.25.7 25 Lamborghini Gallardo 1.25.8 26 Morgan Aero 8 GTN 1.25.9 27 BMW Z4 M 1.26.0 28 BMW M5 1.26.2 29 Porsche Cayman 1.26.2 30 Ferrari 575 GTC 1.26.8 31 Chevrolet Corvette 1.26.8 32 Mercedes-Benz CLS 55 AMG 1.26.9 33 Lotus Exige 1.26.9 34 Porsche 911 GT3 1.27.2 35 Spyker C8 1.27.3 36 TVR 350C 1.27.5 37 Wiesmann 1.27.9 38 BMW M3 CSL 1.28.0 39 Marcos TSO GT2 1.28.2 40 Dodge Viper SRT-10 1.28.5 41 MG SV 1.28.6 42 Mitsubishi Evo VIII 1.28.9 43 Porsche 911 Carrera S 1.28.9 44 Mercedes-Benz CL65 1.29 45 BMW Alpina Z8 1.29.0 46 Subaru Impreza STi WRX WR1 1.29.4 47 Alfa Romeo 3.7 GTA 1.30.0 48 Vauxhall Monaro VXR 1.30.1 49 Subaru Impreza STI 1.30.1 50 Volkswagen Golf R32 1.30.4 51 Aston Martin DB7 GT 1.30.4 52 Audi S4 1.30.9 53 Porsche 911 turbo 1.31.0 54 Vauxhall VX220 turbo 1.31.3 55 Honda NSX Type-R 1.31.6 56 BMW 535d 1.31.8 57 Mazda RX8 1.31.8 58 Nissan 350Z 1.31.8 59 BMW M3 1.31.8 60 BMW 130 1.31.9 61 Ford Focus RS 1.32.2 62 Lotus Esprit V8 1.32.5 63 Audi TT V6 1.32.7 64 Jaguar E-Type 1.32.8 65 MG ZT 1.33 66 Noble 1.33.1 67 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG 1.33.2 68 Corvette Cadillac CTS-V 1.33.3 69 Renault Clio Cup 1.33.8 70 Holden Monaro 1.33.9 71 Ford Mondeo ST220 1.34.5 72 Ford Focus ST 1.34.9 73 Volvo S60R 1.35.0 74 Vauxhall Vectra VXR 1.35.3 75 Alfa Romeo 147 GTA 1.35.6 76 Lotus Elise 1.35.6 77 Aston Martin Vanquish 1.36.2 78 Renault Clio v6 1.36.2 79 Honda Civic Type-R 1.36.5 80 Saab 95 hot aero 1.37.9 81 Mazzer 1.38.0 82 Bowler Wildcat 1.39.4 83 Bentley Arnarge 1.40.8 84 Overfinch 1.44.0 85 Aston Martin DB5 1.46.0 I don't think its as quick as you guys think it is. More than 6 seconds slower than a Sti. But it does appear to be faster than a Golf Gti. Because the Golf isn't even on the list. And its only 0.3 seconds slower then the Aston Martin Vanquish! Which is very suprising!
-
The current Type-R is about £15.5k, So I guess the new one will be around the same, £17k max. I don't really like the new one, it looks like an egg! And the 197bhp engine isn't powerful enough to compete with the new generation of hot hatches.
-
Yea that would be pretty difficult! I can't beleive JDM cars are restricted to 180! Thats crazy! But I think they can be de-limited fairly easily, right?
-
I think the survey should be split into high way driving abroad and Sri lanka into two separate sections. I've done 140mph on a standard Civic Type-R. But that was around 2am on a straight piece of motorway. It would be pretty difficult to reach that sort of speed in Sri Lanka.
-
Man I love the look of the thread in those BF G-Force tyres, I haven't come across them before. They must be better in the wet than the P Zeros. Are they less stickier in the dry?
-
Serious? I thought the S2000 shared the same K20 series. I was thinking how the hell did they get 240bhp out of that. Apparantly the new Civic Type-R might come with a 2 litre N/A 240 bhp engine. So they might be using the S2000 engine for that.
-
Yea it does lift pretty late, and the low end torque of the Toyota engine is crap. Whereas in the Civic Type-R 90% of the torque is produced at 3000rpm. The CTR K20A does take higher octane petrol. I've tried 99RON, but I don't think it was producing 220bhp though! I think the ITRK20A has different manifolds. The S2000 gets 240bhp from the K20 engine but it revs higher than the CTR/ITR K20A.
-
Don't you mean 189 bhp? The Honda K20A engine in the Type-R has 197 bhp.
-
Wow man! What tyres are those?
-
Top gear did a comparison with using different fuels. Shell Optimax 98 RON, BP Ultimate 97 RON and normal unleaded 95 RON. The general findings were, if you have a fuel efficient engine there will be no increase in bhp, but the subaru WRX saw an increase of about 30 bhp when using 98 RON. And a Golf GTI got about 7 bhp. So the most benefits were seen by the high powdered turbocharged cars. Not too sure if high reving N/A cars get any benefit.

Guys, you can't blame teams for having big budgets. You shouldn't forget that most of these teams cover their spending through their sponsers anyway. And you need big budgets to attract big guns like Gascoyne and Newey. The teams need to show that their are commited to F1. I know Honda makes it out like they have a big heritage in motor sports but I think thats mainly due to their clever marketing strategies. 2007 Japanese grand prix has been stripped from Honda owned Suzuka to the Toyota owned Fiji circuit. That says a lot!
-
Out of the Jap companies Honda has the biggest heritage and most passion for racing. So they deserve to succeed. It's amazing how all these teams are located in England except Ferarri. I don't agree with that mate. I think Ferrari, Williams and Mclaren have a bigger racing heritage than Honda.
-
Yea man. It'll be Kimi and Schumi at Ferrari next season. That'll be one unbeatable driver line up! And engine freeze is coming into play next season as well.
-
Webber is pretty good. He definitly made some impression this season. Apparantly Williams couldn't afford him for next season.
-
Yea. I agree with that. Aura can't touch the new Lexus range. The IS and the GS are being compared to Mercs and Beamers.

British International Motor Show (20-30 July) In London
Blazin replied to milinda's topic in General Automotive
Yea I went to that last weekend. It was pretty good. I loved all the concept cars, specially the Saab. Milinda, did you get any pics of the Honda F1 car that was taken to bits and every single component was hung from the celing with thin wires, Like in a blown up view? That was crazy. -
Yea they are pretty expensive in most places. Bridgestone potenzas are good for handling but has poor grip. And very noisy. I I think Dunlop SP 9000 is a pretty good allround tyre.
