I felt this early last week on an airport run on the Town Ace and just after pumping from the shed next to IFS Wella, the Van started having a slight engine vibration.. Knew it then and there and thought it was the shed until I hrd the news

If I do remember right it was just the sleeves approach I got done.. And yes the exhaust is a wonder now with no smoke at all unless a rare bit in the mornings when the engine is quite cold.. Consumption wise there was no change for me.. mind you after smoke also depends on calibrating the diesel pump as well and we had to tweak that to get to the no smoke at all point. On the other hand a person known to me opted for a recon 2C for around 165k and spared all the hassle.. It was a 2c with the top head injection version ( Noah version) and the van works like a charm... What I've heard is no amount of overhauling in SL get the engine gets back to the optimum original specs for some reason ( I might be quite wrong here) and its maybe better to go for a well selected used engine and jst swap

I did up my 2c on the Townace a couple of years back and it cost me close to a 100k for parts from Toyota Lanka.. if I remember right what we replaced was the rings, gasket timing belt, razors and the water pump.. Used the same Pistons.. Oh btw the injectors was replaced as well.. after 60,000 km's after the overhaul no major engine issues yet other than the common running repairs.. I do have to say that the power gain was not that significant after overhaul maybe coz I did the overhaul before it got too ugly or may be the fact its the heavier 4WD version.

There are some guys that do the conversions. With regard to the FM Frequency of 80 - 90 there is a small converter which costs less than Rs500 which needs to be fixed to the antennae line, but got to admit that the reception is not anywhere close to good most of the time though..

Wrong!!!!!!!!!!! My Corolla is an EE 111 which has a 1.6 Engine being a SE Saloon full option 2000 model.. its not the 111 that signifies if its a 1.3L which is the common perception in sl

Is It Safe To Get Rid Of The Thermostat Value Completely?
oshad replied to E L N I N O's question in Mechanical problems
Based on some expert advise I got regarding the same subject, following is what i understood. Taking off the Thermostat would make the engine take longer to generate the optimum operating temp thus having serious repercussions on the life of the engine plus lower mpg's.. Although the removal of the thermostat would make the vehicle cool better on low speeds( rather work at a lower temp), on higher speeds it could lead to overheating for the fact that the water circulation would be too fast to absorb the heat efficiently. (I'm assuming this is due to the water pump driven faster..). A thermostat would open up depending on the temp and regulates the flow of water, so without it its just free flow. On the issue of the Nissan Genuine Thermostat giving trouble, could it be that the opening threshold temp in the selected thermostat is wrong? I saw the opening temp engraved on the wide wall of my vehicle the last time the mechanic took it out.. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.. -

Second da comments abt da Townace air intake being set on bumper level... had a bad experience a couple of years back wit my 4WD Town Ace.. I assumed da higher ground clearance in this version wud be ok but a wave created by another vehicle managed to stall mine and had to tow it from moratuwa to mount thanks to a Jayagiri tow truck tha made me 4k poorer.. On da positive I did not try starting it again and a day wit cranking da engine manually to take all da water out paid dividends.. after a couple of push starts managed to get her running again Second go was at da Walauwatte rd canal intersection... took out da air intake and kept it aside and tried wading in, but lo and behold da engine started missing and puffing smoke lolzz.. straight in to reverse gear and out of it lolz.. phew i thought i busted it again and this was after a full engine overhaul ... All in all i wonder if some mod can be done to re route da air intake, coz technically in da townace its even below the buffer level. Although the air intake is behind da front buffer it slides down into a box kinda thingy near da left wheel further down... scary stuff .. so no more water fun for me lolz in da van -
How Can I Identify Real Toyota 121 G-grade?
oshad replied to Sanath Kumara's topic in Ask for Advice
interesting point.. any feedback guys? -
I ve seen this adds and this adds are the usual crazy pricing ads we see on and off where da owners tend to think they can make a fast buck by over quoting assuming they get a buy in from a clueless buyer... I dnt this the market proces has moved at all ither than this

this is the first time I heard of the 2c giving trouble at 150k.. My townace CR36 ( Lotto 4WD) with the 2C engine ran 300,000 before its first overhaul .. Dielsel Engine over haul intervals are mostly dependant on the maintainance you do.. Proper servicing and filter changes at appropriate intervals and it wud be perfectly alright in the long run..

Malkey should be the best in terms of reliablility and condition of cars.. contact milindu there..

you should be able to see the ECU somewhere in da engine bay of its a EFI and there should ne a wire harness running to the fuel pump if I'm not mistaken..

Madz following is da recreation steps: 1)typed in search tecxt (Ex: Atf oil change) and clicked on search button on home page. 2) Search results are displayed with relevant Search text 3) But on clicking on a returned search link the following menu tree loads up rather than the actual thread which should be the case..
-
Hey Mads, I ve tried searching for some topics and on clicking on the search results, just loads a plain html menu tree again and not the specific threads which the search links refer to?
