Thanks for the info on the black H2… ya there is a S class in that house, though it was too far away to see the exact model.. Like I had said before, the Black H2 (in the house on Queen’s Road) is owned by a Mr. Jayasooriya (so said the Gardner of the house).. And I saw the Orange H2 (JL -9703) after a long time on the road this evening near liberty… I was right next to it near a traffic light, asd was expecting to hear a big BIG rumple as it pulled away, but man is that a quiet ride.. DAM quiet.. you couldn’t say it was a 6Ltr engine.. And that SUV has been seriously over modified.. WAYYYY too much chrome on that thing…. Kind of looks like an real life version of a cheap plastic kids toy you get for sale on the pavement.. seriously, wayyyy too much chrome… But still the H2’s sheer size makes people go wow (despite looking like a MEGA kids toy) …

Who Are The Worst Drivers In Sl Or Wherever You Are?
Watchman replied to Dominic's topic in General Automotive
hey man, there may be good lady drivers.. but percentage wise a higher perentage of BAD DRIVERS are WOMEN, and a HUGE percentage of WOMEN are BAD DRIVERS.... you just hapen to find one that fell in to the TINY minority of good female drivers.. hehehee! And I’m sure all of you have been stuck behind a lady driver on a not-so-wide road, that her vehicle can easily pass through with another vehicle coming her way.. yet she’s nearly standing still with like at least one or two feet between the vehicles… And not to mention turning onto a busy main road from a by-lane.. they wait for like all traffic to come to a standstill for them to move forward… And hey you must admit women tend to travel in the center of the road (where they’re clear of all cyclists and pedestrians) but blocking up all the traffic behind them…. Hey I have nothing against omen (or even men) driving slow.. its just that they shouldn’t be a nuisance to other drivers.. -
i saw a new Subaru Imprezza parked oposite Senok on Duplication road. not a STi, bt standard Impreza. a light metalic green. it was a KB plate i think.

hey man... we shouldnt look down upon people buying imported goods... see, take the cautomotive industry... i know at least 5 people who were really worked up and enthusiastic about buying a Micro ... but when they learnt how long they'd have to wait, they decided to go recon japanease.... and even parts, there are a number of locally manufactured car-soapres that are starting to see well.. we just need to give them some time.... and people who want to start making things locally have to go through a whole lot of crap from authorities.. remember the trouble the RMV was making when it came to registering a Micro as a vehicle.. NOT SAFE they said. and i presume a three wheeler with nothing but a thin plate of metal and a steerin/handle that can stab a driver right through the chest upon impact is "SAFE"? we cant just bame people for not buying "domestic".. everyone has a part to play...
-
well, you are right... but letting people import such luxuies creates kind of an unhealthy compertition .. say one rich guy imports a 15 mil car... then the next guy not wanting to be outdone imports one for 20 mil.. the next for 25 mil.. and in the end a whole lot of money is going out... but i DO agree with your concept of taxation... if people want to buy big cars well, make them pay thruogh the nose... but let the common man buy a vehicle without having to pay 200% tax....

Who Are The Worst Drivers In Sl Or Wherever You Are?
Watchman replied to Dominic's topic in General Automotive
guys... i was looking for "female drivers" to vote for.. didnt find one.. so i went with Pvt. Bus drivers.. cos you cant exactly show brute force against them... a simple tap on the side of your car's side by one of those guys and you are seriously messed up.. -
Hey guys, are there any New Subaru STi’s in Sri Lanka.. you kno with the all new nose section… I personally don’t like it though… And about how much would it be brand new? I guess its too early to expect to find recons of it just yet huh? kinda reminds me of the Deawoo Racer.. remember that? the old 688688 cabs? I think all of those cars/taxis have been either thrown away or sol off… cos you don’t see them anymore… PS: i tried to upload an image (pretty neat wallpaper) of one, but something went wronf and couldnt.. will try to do it later...

Colombo Airport By Night!! Quite Amazing!!
Watchman replied to sharkster's topic in General Automotive
Hey man Uploading pics isn’t a big thing after you learn how to do it.. I had the same prob…. First, type your whatever you wanna type, and at the bottom there’s a little location where it gives a “browse” button.. select it and choose the file… you then click “HOST IT”. that automatically opens a new page… there it gives a number of options my personal choice is a link that says something like “upload to forum” there, select the text (the URL to your image location) and paste it right under what you typed in the thread… and that’s it…..you’re picture is up…. Hope to see the pics of your N16 -
Quite right man.. the rich keep getting richer… Like I once said in the thread about the new S-class.. I think there should be a limit on how much people are allowed to spend on luxuries like this… cos it’s a lot of money going out of the country in the end… Plus, it can feed a whole lot of mouths… I bet most of you are thinking “this wise guy wouldn’t be saying this if he had a H2 or could afford a new S-class..” well, it may be true, but still if I had someone show to me exactly ho unjustifiable my actions are, I just might not go ahead with it….

i've always wondered why Hydrogen engines are so hard to develop... dillon, do you think hydrogen is a better fuel when it comes to rotary engines? i'm presuming its no difference when it comes to wear and tear.. but how is it when it comes to performance? Didn’t a hydrogen version of the H2 come out as a concept once… I remember seeing this picture of it.. but i dont seem to have the article..

Sharkster.. if you don’t mind me asking what were you looking for when you saw this? As hilarious as it is, I don’t know where anyone would just ‘find’ it on the net… hehehee! Still, cool scene man!!! Though personally I don’t want something like that on my car!!!

Guys, do we have devices here in SL that you check how much HP your engine is giving? If so, where?

Ferrari Fxx.. And We Thought The Bugatti Was Expensive!
Watchman replied to Watchman's topic in General Automotive
You’re welcome man… But I seriously doubt it if there’ll be one of these in SL.. even if the thing is dam 100% duty free..forget this.. I don’t think we’ll even see something like a Ferrari Enzo or a Carerra GT… forget that… even a simpler (cheaper) car like a vanquish…. By the way, any idea about the Masaratti that’s in Sl.. I heard about it a couple of times from friends, but don’t exactly know the details about it… -
The Bologna Motor Show in Italy brought to the world two cars at the extreme opposite ends of the motoring spectrum. Citroën's C-Air Play is a miniature sedan designed to offer driving enjoyment without too much speed. The other newcomer alla Bolognese is the Ferrari FXX, designed to offer driving enjoyment with the ultimate in speed. The FXX could bid to be the ultimate zillionaire's toy: just 29 have been built and they will be sold - at a price of $1.8 million a piece - to what the company describes as "a selected group of its most dedicated and passionate Clients." The FXX owes much to the Enzo, Ferrari's limited-production super car, but it is even more advanced in its conception and is the culmination of Ferrari's expertise in building special limited-series sports cars combined with its racing experience. The FXX, Ferrari says, will provide the basic framework on which the specifics of future extreme models will be developed. The car delivers extreme performance: it is powered by an imposing 6262-cc V-12 engine that develops over 800 hp at 8500 rpm. The gearbox is the result of the transfer of F1 technology and delivers gear-change times of less than 100 milliseconds - almost as fast as the F1 cars, the pinnacle of current technology. The FXX has a dry weight of 2546 pounds, with a power-to-weight ratio of 3.18 pounds per horsepower, and has completed a lap of Ferrari's own Fiorano test track in under 1'18''00 - a time that gives an indication of the sheer power and performance of the car. The FXX's aerodynamic design gives a 40 percent increase in downforce compared to the already impressive Enzo. Ferrari's F1 tire partner, Bridgestone, developed a specific 19" slick tire for the FXX, and Italian brake specialists Brembo created a special brake pad and cooling system for the 398 x 36 mm Composite Ceramic Material rotors. Another unique feature of the FXX is its sophisticated telemetry system, which monitors and provides feedback in real time. The instrument panel, supplied by Magneti Marelli, is specifically designed for the FXX and incorporates a new data acquisition system. A video camera is also installed on the roof of each of the cars, pointing towards the rear, with a special TFT display on the dash removing the need for rearview mirrors. The fact that the FXX uses slick tires and has an inbuilt telemetry system provides a further hint as to its credentials as a folly for the rich - it cannot legally be used on the road, neither can it compete in any form of officially-sanctioned racing. It has not been submitted for approval by the bodies that approve motor vehicles for road or race use, but purchasers can use it on the Fiorano track, where they will be taught how to handle the beast, and on a selection of international race tracks, where races open only to the FXX and its selected ownership will be held. The $1.8 million package includes participation in a series of 14 events organized by Ferrari on various international-level circuits over the coming two years in Europe, North America, and Japan (meetings at Spa in Belgium and the Nürburgring in Germany have already been confirmed for 2006). On these occasions, an official team of technicians will be on hand to provide any assistance and support required by what Ferrari refers to as "the Client Test Drivers." In addition to these unique official events, Clients (for this much money, Ferrari calls them Clients with a capital 'C') will also be able to take their cars out on the track independently during private sessions. If Clients wish to leave their car at Ferrari's Maranello headquarters while not in use, they will be transported directly by Ferrari to the various European circuits for the scheduled events. After the seat and the pedals have been individually molded for each driver, there will be a traditional "shakedown" followed by the training session to introduce the Client Test Drivers to test-driving methodologies. The first FXXs were delivered in mid-November and the last will be with their owners by the end of April next year. -Ian Norris ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I got this via e-mail, so i dont exactly know the origin of this sorry.

i dont think Hummer owners send them to USA to get them serviced.. probably might be going to some reputed car-agent for it... i'm guessing D*MO, since they deal in chrysler (and thats American Technology right).. besides shipping that thing halfway around the world probably costs a lot... sighhhhhhh...man imagine what these people have as incomes.. to be able to afford such vehicles and then to run and maintain them.. i'm guessing a 7 figure paycheck every month....

hey ppl! Whats this BOI company that everyone is referring to? So does this company do the conversions here in SL? If so, that’s pretty impressive I guess! And the black H2.. well, nice to know someone has seen it on the road, cos I never have.. and everyday that I pass that way it’s sitting there doesn’t look like its been moved in quite some time… And the crash bar on the H2.. from what it looks on the outside, it doesn’t look like it can be removed.. poor bugger.. then again if you’re hit by a H2, I don’t think the crash bar’s absence would make much of a difference.. hehehee! By the way, someone said that the H2 is also available with a 6.5ltr diesel engine option.. but I didn’t think so.. anyone know about that?

hey! i feel you man! this is the traffic light i was talking about as well! i agree it has the worst timing ever... so i guess you'd understand how annoying it is to be stuck at that light at midnight with no vehicle in sight for like a LONG time, and running out of patience and driving on against the red light AND being flagged down by a cop.. and 3wheelers are really annoying .. they think they cal just take the other lane and go right to the top of the que... i at times block them if they're taking the wrong lane and coming against me.. its so much fun making them go back in reverse (like on park road where there's no space to just move over) ...

ohh man. this is one neat convertion... classy job! seriously nice job in the conversion! were there any body modifications done? as in reshaping of metal parts (doors, rear wheel arches etc) ? and does anyone know how mch all these modifications cost? and i'm sure a lot of us would like to know what kinda work Maheth does to be fortunate enough to afford cars like these. (i hope he doesnt mind us asking all this about him) by the way, where does this guy live? if i'm not mistaken the wall outide Maheth's house is the rear wall of Isipathana. is it? dont worry, not that i'll jump in and boost his car.. looking forward to seeing this car on the roads!
