  1. Hi, Could somebody please explain what works involve with A/C servicing? How often should it be done even without any noticeable drop in cooling? Cost around?
  2. Hi Ripper, Same symptoms as mine.... hope the cause is not as yours My Radiator is sealed type with no cap on top. I can see only through the save tank. I'd see if I can find any bubbles as u said in save tank.
  3. Thanks MkX, I'm gonna start with an A/C service which is due I think. Got an openion that less oil in A/C compresssor might cause extra load on the engine, which could cause overheating. But not sure when I'll be able to test it along E01. Would come back if I get any improvement.
  4. Hi MkX, Thanks for the reply. Water level in the radiator is static. Overheating only happened in Express way, but not in my day today 35km drive along galle road. Did you replced the A/C heater circuit valve in your 121? If so how expensive is it? Can an A/C guy do it? That could be a culprit for my lesser cooling A/C as well.
  5. Hi, I saw in a thread that air could be trapped in cooling water circuit and this would give overheating problems. My CR 42 gives a noice like releasing air bubbles every time i stop the engine (like bloating stomac). Though there is no overheating during my everyday running, once it overheated along the express way. So I'm hesitant to take it again to E01. Since I hear this 'bubling' noice inside the dash (or may be engine bay, not sure) could it be air trapped in water lines to heaters? If so how could it be resolved. Could an A/C technician do it?
  6. Hi, I checked the price for front break pads of Suzuki escudo (SUV) and got a quote as Rs. 14,000/- from A*M. Do you think it is worth to get it replaced with genuine for such cost? Obviously gurage mechanics are suggesting me to buy it from Panchikawatta. Need some advice. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks Sampath.... that is the exact method in the CR 42 catalog i found... and applicable for most of the vehicle models i guess.
  8. Found a user manual for toyota townace. Checking ATF level is similar to the method in the vishkid's post. So the level must be there when the Engine is idling not at stop position.
  9. Checked the level in the early morning and found to be still in the HOT range. That's why I am also confused. But unfortunately I don't have a user manual for Toyota CR 42, where it must have clearly mentioned. So i'm not convinced at all, as now there are two different methods giving two different readings. Must find a catelogue for CR 42. If the method of checking with the engine running is correct, I'm running the vehilce with very very low ATF.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I will check it in the morning as VVTi adviced. This matter came up at the service, where the guy was running the engine and checked ATF. But could not found the level as fluid has not touched the stick. I think he's also not very competent for this and vehicles was also not in very levelled surface (front was slightly below). His argument was that it should be checked when the engine was running and since it is slightly tilted argument was that stick should show the higher level. When i check it at home it's within HOT region. Also i've seen some posts on the web that some experts adviced to check when the engine is running, but not for this particular vehicle. like in http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1i/bl729i.htm so i'm concerned.
  11. Hi, I wonder what is the correct way of checking the Automatic Transmission Fluid level. I have Toyota CR 42 and it's level is within the HOT region of the stick when checked while the engine is not running. I heard people say that it must be checked when the engine is running and should be within the HOT region, is it the correct way to check ATF level?
  12. I use 100% water. no coolant. However, before the repair it reached to operating temp les than 5 mins. Anyway i must check this Thermostat. Also i think this has some relationship with the delayed gearshifting in Auto gearbox i experience in the morning. I heard that ATF is also circulating through the raidaator.
  13. thanx for the replies guys. I think they may hav damaged the thermostat. But is it true that in SL most of the vehicles operate in the same way ? and it's no harm to the engine except fuel consumption? BTW is this thermostat can be repaired without dismentelling the engine? is it visible outside?
  14. recently this CR42 engine had problems with cold start and mechanics told that it has to be overhauled. They did it and now it seems ok. but I noticed that the temp level is below the normal level (does not come to halfway as usual). Please let me know; 1. What could be the reason for this? 2. will it harmful if it contuously run at low temp in long term?
  15. Thank you for the reply. Yes it is an Auto, but it happens even in Parking position at idling speed. So i doubt this is the problem. any other suggestion?
