  1. Dude, I don't think is any correlation between Ralliart's performance on the Dakar and the sales figures of Lancer Evolutions worldwide. Mitsu uses variations of the Pajero for their CCR program and completely different cars, Evolutions, for the WRC. There is absolutely no relationship. Some people buy Evolutions, some buy WRXs just like some people prefer vanilla over chocolate (although for the life of me I cannot figure out why). Some fans of the WRC like the Mitsubishis so they bought Evos and some liked the sight of Colin McRae flying over the trees on the Finnish GP so they bought Scoobs. This isn't a flame, by the way. I like both, although if push came to shove I'd take the STI.
  2. Like I've been telling them, maybe David Peiris can help them out. I hear that the Chery QQ is a DOHC.
  3. I believe that turbocharged 2000 cc are rated at 3400cc because their engine capacity is multiplied by a coefficent of 1.7, due to the forced induction. If i'm not mistaken, the co-efficient used to be 1.8 back in the day.
  4. I guess the lure of variable valve technology was too strong, even though in its time as an EXI it took down a few VTECs.
  5. What I actually meant was that Nissan intended the car to be on par with the SiR. I think we can all safely say that they failed miserably. But still, the Hondas that ran the VZ that night were quick. And yes, The Car Formerly Known As An EXI (TCFKAAE) whooped that white Vi-RS silly.

Burning Sensation? Huh? I'd usually associate that with herpes, syphilis or any other sexually transmitted diseases rather than the forward thrust of a performance car. By the way, that Accent SR looks like it could take down a SOHC Honda VTEC.
  7. I know, the VZR is supposed to be an SiR beater, and yes, that was a real one alright. I guess the SOHCs that ran it that night were just really fast themselves.
  8. Its definitely a hot livery, but I don't see any semblance to the Marlboro colours. This paint job is so good-looking that McLaren are going to get a lot of air-time and other coverage. This is exactly what sponsors look for so big up to the marketing department at McLaren. Duncan, I hardly think that we are going back to the days of the privateers. BMW and Honda just bought teams, and Williams are running Cosworths only as an intermediate measure - next year they will run Yoda V8s redbadged as Lexus or may bring in a new engine supplier. And with Mercedes owning a substantial share of McLaren, I don't think the manufacturer era end for a while yet. There is just so much of a return from F1 globally that unless you don't understand it, you won't want to leave. Unfortunately, the Ford board of directors in Dearborn didn't really grasp F1, so they cut the Jaguar programme.
  9. Good drags this weekend, huh? The SOHC Hondas were all impressive, taking down a VZR and a Primera amongst others, and the race between the STi 7 and the Starlet Turbo was hot as well. Too bad the cops busted things, because it could have gotten better.

Its totally a Nor Cal thing. So Cal people used to laugh at Nor Cal people for saying 'hella' and Nor Cal people used to get pissed off when So Cal people used the word. It was part of the whole Nor Cal-So Cal in-state rivalry, kinda like the Kings vs the Lakers, from when the Flakers robbed the Kings in the 2002 Western Conference Finals.
  11. Thanks man. I sent you a message through fotopic. Check it out and please put me on the list.
  12. Royal Courts as in Royal College Colombo? Do you mean the indoor courts at the Sports Complex or the outdoor one next to the swimming pool? What time?
  13. Praveen, where do you play ball? I want to play too.
  14. Welcome to the forum, Hondarules. You know, I really feel like I know you from somewhere. On WRC4 on the PS2, is your favourite event the Rally of Mexico? Also, since you asked, one of the fastest Hondas here is Zakie Ismail's Integra.
  15. Hmmm Pila, thats an idea - a 1300 Suzuki Swift/Cultus GTi taking down a D15 with a few mods. Yes, in stock form the car falls into 6-8 where it is rather uncompetitive but with a little tweaking, the G13B is very competitive in Modified upto 1400 cc. But I digress. The main argument here is Honda vs. Muscle huh? Y'all are all missing the point. Manufacturers build cars for specific market segments, based on various contributing factors. In North America, gasoline is very cheap so consumers are willing to spend more on fuel - therefore, manufacturers meet their demands with "low-tech" high cubic capacity engines because they don't have to waste their time on R&D into small displacement engines. In Asia and for the most part, Europe, this was not the case so historically, manufacturers had to provide consumers with engines that were very economical. Of course, where there are cars there is racing so racing categories developed around the cars available in those markets. There was some interchange and 4-cyls have a following in North America as well but I think you'll find that subconsciously, most Americans that 'hate' V8s and swear by VTEC have anti-establishment issues and are 'sticking it to the man' by buying imports. Which is better? The f**k should I know. To each his own, I say, and that should be the end of it. If you want to race, run what you brung and don't whine about superior bhp/litre output etc. Ironically, with gas at almost $3 a gallon in the US, the big three have been losing market share and $$ because people have practically stopped buying SUVs and are looking at hybrids and econoboxes. If anybody thinks that the 'totally great' Civic and Honda brought down the big three, they are smoking crack. It was poor management, out of tune with the car buying public that caused their decline. And the spiralling costs of health benefits paid out to current and ex-workers. f**king UAW. I hate unions!

I believe this is the same weekend as SLARDAR Katukurunda, which would make it Saturday the 18th of February.
  17. Pil, Iz on, like Donkey Kong! Scrutineering/drivers briefing and the issuing of notes will be today at 5:00ish.
  18. I think the new Miura resembles the original Miura, not quite the Ford GT. Its an homage to the original. Dodge got it wrong with the new Charger. They were trying to pass off a modern 4-door as a muscle car and it just didn't pan out so hopefully they get the Challenger right. There is a precdent for redbadging exercises like this going horribly wrong. In the late eighties or early nineties, GM came back with a new Chevy Nova, except that it was a rebadged front-wheel drive, 4-pot Toyota Sprinter. Imagine that! A POS Yoda being given gifted a name with so much emotional muscle-car cachet. How depleted can their creative resources have been? Its just another example of how out-of-tune Detroit executives are to real-world car buyers. Personally I think that if retro is done right, its f**king pimpin'. The new shape Mustang is undeniably hot and this new Challenger doesn't look half-bad.
  19. Nigel ran Chang. Chang ran Zakie. Lots of people ran from the cops. Dilan, Razzali, Gazzali, Shamil and some others made passes too.
  20. Saturday was totally happening. There were some really really hot drags.
