  1. If it really is a cracked chasis, then you do have a very serious problem. But don't take any outside Garage's word for it, take it to A*W, they will put the car up and check, then you can see for yourself too. All the best.
  2. Yes, that's what I heard too, apparently it's harder to buy the engine, gearbox, ecu and wire harness only nowadays so they just buy a whole car and send only the necessary parts. Maybe the cost will be less if one can find only the needed parts?
  3. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. BTW, was your car an AWD sports version? I never thought of doing this conversion before but frankly, Nirosh's car has impressed me a lot, in terms of performance. He quoted 600k for all the engine and components as his cost. When you add the base car's price, and compare that with what a type-r conversion would cost, they are quite similar in final cost. You just get a faster car albeit, one which is not very practical as a daily driver because of the awful fuel consumption in these cars (4-5 km/l), whereas as a type-r would be quite a good daily use car and I am told the fuel milage is good if used carefully.
  4. Actually I am considering doing a STI conversion... is it a good idea though? the base car and the engine + components are fairly reasonable in terms of cost, but what's the downside (other than the fact that the car will become very expensive to run and maintain, which I am prepared to live with). I mean are there any other better options in terms of getting a really fast car at a cheaper cost? I was planning to look for a Civic hatch and do a typr-r conversion but that's expensive, both the base car and the engine etc, Subaru seems more reasonable, but there is a catch (or three) I am sure...
  5. Any idea how much a similar Imreza CS (19-) would go for now?
  6. Just as an aside, who's this dude Fernandopulle? is he for real? over to you sir, if appropriate, and no offence meant (just thought I'd that, looking at the way this thread has gone )
  7. Did the Autozam have the same (BP) engine that was used in the Miata? I've always wondered what parts if any, are similar between an Autozam and a Miata. My first car was a Doctor Sunny! Utterly boring, also utterly reliable, I treated it like shit yet it gave no trouble. Never got emotionally attached to her though; then I bought an old Merc, lots of problems, but love at first start
  8. You know what, that's exactly what I want to do but WHERE? wait don't tell me, opposite Pila, on saturday night, right?
  9. I looked all over in the Phone book and Googled for 'N motorsports' to contact them regarding a new modifying project, I can't find them, is it ok to post contact info on this forum, if so, please do so, will be most obliged, thanks! Or just tell me where they are, so I can visit them.
  10. Thanks Fuzzo; it's just a humble Miata :-)

    Building A Drag-able Car

One other criteria I could add: personally speaking, if I build a draggable car, I will also use it as a daily driver as I can't afford to have one car just for fun and another for daily use. So a NEWER car (with four doors) will score more points as a base for a drag racer for me personally than say an early 90s 2 door hatch. So if the base car is from a (relatively) recent year and is a 4 door, I would prefer it over an older car, even if the car is a bit more/ HP gain a bit less. I know, I am compromising, but hey, we can't all have all we want

    Building A Drag-able Car

But is the Civic the BEST base to build a 'draggable'? I suppose the criteria (this being SL) would be: 1. Cost of base car (with Civic, less than 1M) 2. Cost of engine, other conversion parts+labor 3. How much horsepower could be gained Based on the above, I guess we could determine (scientifically!) which car is the best for modification, and lay rest to all Civic 'myths', if that is the case
  13. Pilawoos Kollupitia?
  14. Maybe I shouldn't be asking this question in public, but where will be the drags be? Me, I dont have any flying machine, just a humble Jap convertible , but really would love to watch you guys go at it. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to send me a personal messsage? THANKS
  15. I am new to Honda but am really interested in getting one; I just wondered; if I were to buy a normal Honda saloon or hatch VTEC (for say 1m) then import a type-R or similar engine from Japan (plus wire harness, ecu, gearbox, anything else necessary) from Japan, how much is the cost approximately I am looking at for the engine conversion? I guess some of you have done this or similar, in which case, what is the engine most popular for this kind of hot-rodding in SL? costs? Who are the more reliable engine importers in SL? Any threads in this forum about past conversions done by you guys?
