fair enough. but why is it that you and a couple of other maruti owners (which all seem to be the same person) take it very personally whenever someone make a negative comment about marutis? I mean everyone makes negative comments about a certain car all the time, be it a supercar like the veyron or a disposable as the maruti "800" but when it comes to marutis you guys seem to be rather defensive. first of all you always have to have some slack when your car is flawed or has a string of jokes attached to it. secondly it could be that it fulfills your needs rather adequately and other people might not have the exact same needs. or their aspirations are higher. so why try to argue with them? impaling on the steering wheel after a crash might be fine for you. but not so for the ones who complain. and i don't see how you can convince them thats perfectly ok. so why don't you just give up being an ambassador of good will towards marutis and live your life happily with your maruti wagon r? the marutis (800 and alto) will always be the butt of all jokes unless something cheaper and deadlier comes into move them upmarket. so lets stop all this nonsense which looks nothing more than cheap advertising from your part. and its not like the maruti doesnt have a place in our society. without it all the jokes will be on the korean and chinese marques.

PMSL!!!

90 for economy and low down torque 95 for performance tried both on my 1nz. so far no probs. however one of my friends had a knocking problem when going from 95 to 90.

then you'll probably be looking at the same costs again. how about you change the final drive? ...if its possible on fwd automatics

you can soak the headlamp in hot water or put it in the microwave to weaken the glue. but you might wanna be careful with the plating inside the lamp. and once you are done cleaning you'll need silicon glue to stick the lense back in place.
-
and you call this an advantage??? but then again. why would anybody wanna steal a maruti in the first place?
-
seems to be something associated with people who drive maruti's or the ones who try desperately to defend them
-
its just the outer surface. rarely does a headlamp fog from the inside. unless its been letting water and other particles in

Hi I saw this topic coming up once on the forum and i've seen so many people driving around with discoloured headlights. fixing them through a professional would cost you big bucks. so here's a cheap DIY method. Stuff you'll need 2000 grade sand paper (1 nos.) A bucket of water Brasso or Speedy a polishing cloth/an old t-shirt This is what my headlights looked like before i started out first of all you should decide if the headlamp needs to be taken off or not. my lenses overlapped the bodywork so i had to remove them to clean the edges. but when you are done getting the grit out of the edges put them back on cos there are so many openings that could leak water into your healights while cleaning them. Now, tear off a piece of sandpaper the size of ur palm and soak it in water. when you start sanding the headlights make sure you keep the surface wet cos its a lot better that way for some reason. don't worry about overdoing it cos you can almost wash your car with this kind of sand paper so you can be a little hard on those extra yellowy areas. once you are done cutting wash the headlights and wipe them dry and they should look white if you've done a good job. Now begins the hard part. polishing the headlights took the most effort cos the shinier they are the newer they look. try as much as you can to get it upto the finish on your bodywork. that ought to bring out all the various accents inside your headlights. i'm still not happy with mine. so i might polish them a few more times. you can swap 2000 grade for a rougher or smoother sandpaper. but i wouldn't advice going below 1500 and the lower the grade the harder it is to polish the headlamps These are the pics after it was done all it took was 60 rupees worth of sand paper and a couple of hours and a little help from fall out boy on the radio. i cut and polished my headlamps twice cos i wasn't happy with the initial results. if you go real hard on them you should be happy with the first time and the whole procedure will take you anything between half n hour to a whole day depending on your skills. so that's nearly 3000 rupees saved Now go out and treat yourself to something nice

nice write up mate! Even i would say the alto is "not a bad car" ...if i lived in the 80s

i'll just mention the things i like in the montero better. its looks more modern, feels more solid, has more powerful engines, the interior is more upto date and uses better materials. its more planted has more space has the bigger sunroof and the 3rd row seating arrangement is better than even the current prado's.

either that or you sh*t in your pants everytime u look in the rear view mirror. so thats 13k well spent i'd say

LPG is better cos its a more straight forward conversion. however i don't have much faith in the conversions done in sl using universal kits. I'll leave an lpg exoert to comment on that. but my advice is getting a bespoke montero lpg conversion kit shipped to sl so you'll probably recieve an underfloor tank and the cutting and shutting could be minimised. performance wise it will be a little slower. as for economy it'll burn more fuel but since lpg is cheaper you'll be close to diesel levels of running costs.

Tips And Tricks To You Use To Avoid Being Copped

Never heard of anyone doing such a conversion but I can answer some of your questions. lets start with the car which should definitely be a montero cos its a much better machine compared to the lc of that vintage. go for a gdi cos that's the cheapest version and you are getting rid of its most troublesome part; the engine. now to the conversion. first of all doing such a conversion on a modern car is a nightmare thanks to all the wiring and circuitary attached to the ecu. secondly there will be differences in the frame of your car so it will definitely not be a drop in conversion. and we are talking about massively powerful engines here. so it wont be easy as putting a 2c engine in a 504. an engine like the 4m41 serves out bucket loads of torque so i won't be surprised if the engine jumps out of its "home-made" mounts. eitherway i got some serious doubts if you can get it upto the original conditions of a factory fitted diesels most probably you'll end up with a 325- number and you'll be riding around telling the world you bought a petrol car cos you couldn't stretch the pennies to buy a diesel and you converted it cos you wanted the running costs of a diesel so if it was me that would be enough to put me off completely cos i'd look really cheap. i think going with a lpg conversion is the best way to avoid such an expensive messup. however avoid gdis if you go with lpg.

well the car does seem quite serious and focussed so it could be genuine. the engines definitely a d series so parts wont be that different to the run of the mill d15s. see if you can get ichips to confirm the cars originality if you are seriously considering it. you can't really say its got 150 bhp bang on. but it'll deliver something in the region +-10 to 20 bhp. 0-60 should be around 7-8 seconds so check if it feels that quick. as for fuel consumption i won't be surprised if it turns out to be better than you current car. i'm no honda expert but i hope this helps

Tips And Tricks To You Use To Avoid Being Copped

mints/mouthwash wont help cos once the alchohol is in the system it'll release vapour as the blood releases CO2s at lungs. so i wouldnt really advice this. however something that always works for me is drinking before the food is served. not excessively. just to make the people and/or the conversation interesting you'd look sober enough after a couple of hours and food will make it easier. this won't necessarily work for dance parties when you have to stay high for hours right till the end. so have a designated driver chosen out of your crowd, preferabally a lady like someone else mentioned, or keep enough money for a taxi with you at all times. either way i think we should be a little less ambigous about this topic here. it shouldnt be about driving under the influence of drugs/alchohol. but rather getting home with no fuss after a couple of pints/shots. anyways. does anyone know if there's a drunk drive limit in sl? im sure a little alchohol would do no harm. -
I once drove a maruti alto and i wet myself everytime i looked into the rear view mirrors cos all the cars appeared to be right behind my ear

seems like someone who plays both sides of the field

indeed! isuzu gave them engines. and they tuned the handling of isuzu cars
-
they ground critical areas around the engine bay. people have experienced smoother idle, better throttle response, brighter headlights and crisper stereos. again it could be the placebo effect. but there's not much to lose. so i'm gonna give it a shot anyways

i swear toyota copied its shape when they made the 212 carina
