yes this seems to work. i've done this a few times at my place. someone told me the reason being that cat's see their reflection in the bottle and get freaked out!
-
in my experience a dog running loose around a car all night will do more damage to the car than a cat. they just can't seem to keep their paws to themselves!
-
that's a common misconception. a few cars had problems because the owners did not use CVT fluid in the gearboxes. they just changed it with the usual auto transmission fluid. others did not bother to change it at the recommended service intervals and sadly everyone thinks that its the gearbox at fault. i don't think the tp12 can beat an RS or even a 406 when it comes to handling as someone else has suggested. the steering is a bit too light. but it does ride very decently on our roads and has a good turn of speed when you need it.

Just out of curiosity what's the definition of a "faliure car?" There are lots of tp12's around and like most nissan's they are pretty reliable. Ok they are never going to be as popular as the sunnys and the corollas because of the price, fuel consumption and relatively expensive spares. But if we are going to call a car a faliure because of these factors and its poor resale value, then just about everything's a faliure in SL apart from the toyotas and the mercs!

That's a nice list of cars. ! I'm not a major expert at this but the RS is fun to drive, comfortable and fuel consumption is ok. it looks good too. You shouldn't have problems with reselling either. I don't know much about the ES8. The Sonata while its a big comfortable and luxurious type of car suffers from poor resale. It also seems to age quicker than the Jap cars. After a couple of years on our roads it doesn't hold up so well. There are lots of threads on the 406 in this forum, it handles well on our roads but some have complained about reliability and resell is a problem. The TP12 goes for over 2 mil but its stylish and comfortable. Its a 2 litre CVT so fuel consumption is high. There are lots for sale now so you should be able to bargain quite a bit.

Auto Guru's Help Me, Going To Purchase In This Week
leonardo replied to Rajeev_j's topic in General Automotive
take the toyota to the agents, and ask them to give you a full diagnosis of everything that needs replacing. then you can negotiate with the owner a bit more. sure the swift is a newer car, but if resell value is your biggest priority then you can't go wrong with the toyota. don't be in a hurry though. there are lots of toyota's going around. take your time and choose carefully. -
This is hot! Looking forward to checking out one on our roads. Incidently the other day I saw a lovely red 2007 skyline sedan driving through Nawala road. It was recon and was sold at 9.5 mil! Some people in SL have so much $$!

I couldn't agree more. The best exercise for abs is where you push away your plate from the dinner table! Diet is the most important key to getting those ripped abs! Throw in a bit of cardio along with a good full body routine 3 times a week preferbly with free weights and lots of compound movements and your abs will look fine. No need to buy any of those ab machines. Nice to see this kind of post on this forum once in a while!

Hey mate how on earth do you get away with driving fast when there are so many cops around and we have our horrid roads with traffic? I agree that a lot of these new cars need to be taken out for a jolly good thrashing now and then. This stop start driving and short distances must be quite a strain on the engine. I knew somebody who used to take his car just out of town on weekends just to open it up. OT but any places anyone can recommend just out of town that are relatively cop-free?

there's also a motor show in November where they are featuring concept cars. will be interesting to see if they manage to pull it off. its unlikely the agents will be able to commit to another motor show so soon.
-
I thaught the Mazda3 at the showroom is the 2006 model? Also it would be interesting to compare the maintainence costs of both cars. Spare parts for the punto would definitely be more expensive than the mazda.

i agree about our foolish sl market, but in the context of being able to get a stellar deal on a used cefiro as opposed to a corolla 121. i've driven a few korean cars like the sonata and have not been impressed even though they look and feel luxurious. they seem to age a lot quicker on our horrid roads than the jap cars to me.

I don't think jokers like this buy this kind of car to thrash it about and revel in its driving pleasure. they buy it because they want to show off and pick up women in it!
-
terios is 4.7 mil. you can also check out the mazda6, its a very good looking car and its nice to drive. goes for around 4 mil.

Didn't want to open up a new thread for this. Did a search and it seems as if most people recommend the JDM Mazda Axela over the Singapore spec Mazda3. Both are available here. A friend of mine is considering buying a Sing spec Mazda3, unregistered. car looks stunning, subtle bodykit, 17" alloys etc. Question is: 1. Is it a better bet to go for the Axela over the 3 in terms of durability? How practical is it having a car with 17" alloys on our horrible roads? 2. What's the resale value like for these cars? 3. The agents have a bad reputation, but the quality of their service has supposedly improved? Anyone have any recent experiences with them?
-
I use 95 and so had the previous owner. Was told by the agents to add in an injector cleaner for four consecutive full tanks, and also to periodically mix 90octane. ( after Interesting...any idea why they asked you to mix with 90?

apart from the toyota corolla and a few others its painful selling anything today. people just aren't willing to part with their $ with the current situation. part exchange is the way to go at the moment. the positive side is you can negotiate with these big car owners and get some good deals these days. hope that when the time comes for you to sell that the situation has improved! i saw a lovely 2000 YOM cefiro the other day and the owner was willing to flog it for 1.7 mil.

hey thanks for the info. that's news to me, because most of the service places hose the undercarriage with water and lube right?
-
Has anyone gone to cl*** p**k and got that tuff coat underseal thing done? does it really protect against corrosion and make a difference to the overall health of the undercarriage? with all the rain and mud we have in sl i was considering it when i get my next car.

oh no..here we go again!

Very nice! let us know how she handles.

the 1500 cc blue birds should definitely do better on fuel than the TP12, think the blue bird autos average around 8 in the city. but if you're going to choose between the 2000cc blue bird and the TP 12, the primera is a 2001 model, its a higher grade and better looking car and its 2000 cc as well. both should have pretty similar fuel consumption figures. the primera has got a nice interior and its fine for everyday use if your company is paying the fuel bill! parts are readily available though its advised you look for an agent maintained car.
-
one of the reasons why people in sl buy suv's is that our city roads are horrible and worse than the roads outstation. so it makes sense to have an suv rather than ruin a car on them. with the crazy car prices these days i reckon just about any japanese vehicle has a decent image. only the minority can afford the models you mentioned.
-
i think 19.25 is quite high for a 2001 silphy. you should be able to negotiate a bit more. I've been in one, nice interior and its comfortable over the bumps with its soft suspension so good for an everyday car. No idea about fuel consumption but everyone complains that nissan's do poorly on fuel. most carinas have a very plain interior but must be doing better on fuel and handling. the silphy "feels" more expensive. it all depends on what you prefer.

cops...my favourite people...NOT! the other day i was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on baseline road. the road was completely blocked with rush hour traffic and what do you see but one of our jobless pathetic copper friends on the island pointing his speed gun at vehicles. was he hoping to cop drivers for going at 10KM/H? moron!
