Hey guys, thought this might be a good read for those who want to do tire/wheel and other suspension mods. I recently acquired a High-Performance Handling Handbook by Motorbooks Workshop by Don Alexander...and guess what...they have a feature on how to modify a CB7 and in it they talk about how well CB7's react to specifically suspension mods. So I thought i'd scan it and post it up so everyone can read. I didn't get a chance to read everything above...but here goes: by increasing the size of the wheels, the tire wall profile reduces while its rigidity increases to compensate for the reduced flex boundaries. So in turn, the tires would send through more shock form the ground...which is basically like increasing your spring rates.... this is why stronger shocks are advisable with lower profile tires, as is the case with sports springs. you don't really need new shocks...but some original spec shocks may not be able to handle the increased shock forces and could break.

have you tried gold wheels... like these Rota's black ones look good on a white car if they have somewhat of a highlight on them...like a colored lip these are also Rota's AutoX version or if money is not an issue: Work Equip line

wow...longtime no post...just to update...here r some pix.... Here's a pic of the vinyls with a backlight...they are white apprx. 18" long. when are they being installed...? good question...shifter next week...vinyls in the spring when its a little warmer and the vinyls will have some time to adhere...the license plate...never!...well maybe at meets and shows...but by law we need to have a real front license plate here boooo....thats it for now...will update with shifter test run next week. here's some pics I took today...always wanted to take some pics in front of this new building at Lakehead...it was too late really...too dark...its really nice at dusk with a little bit of backlight....anyways enjoy. if I may ask for some advice from the seasoned photography pro's....how do i get rid of the glare from lights...is it my crappy camera and lens? :confused: im trying to make the best of a mediocre quick snap type camera yes that is shiny ice...slippery too...had to take off on second gear. brother looking forth almost forgot...installed my ITR steering wheel today...and started taking off center console to install short throw shifter...will finish tomorrow.... please excuse the interior condition....i'm going to blame it on winter and not on my neglect...the steering wheel is SOSOSOSO sweet...it actually makes the car feel very tight.... b/c of the smaller radius, there seems to be more feedback from the steering wheel...but at the same time the gitters and shakes that i felt with the original steering wheel are gone...a definite plus...complements the updated suspension system very well. a highly recommended upgrade to a CB :nod: did i mention it looks hella good! ok... problem: broken aftermarket antenna, weak signal.... situation: broken antenna looks good :nod: solution: get a antenna signal amplifier...done disclaimer: FM signal amplifiers will only work on weak antennas...otherwise it may over amplify the signal and cause unpleasant static.:nod:

Messing around with springs is a bad idea. Try getting some good after market springs like Tein or Eibach. The suspension system is something you do not want to be cheap with. I would consider the Tociko HP (Blue) shock absorbers. They are low pressure gas shocks that have a progressive dampening curve. So, unlike conventional OEM shock absorber valving, the more the springs compress the more the Tociko HP's dampen. Very comfortable when u are just cruising, and very sporty once you start taking the twisties. enjoy the ride

Use your original Air tube and attach an AEM dry cone intake filter to it. The original tube is made of plastic unlike after market pipes, so it won't heat itself as much. So in turn the original pipe will keep the intake air cooler. Plus only having to buy a filter will be much cheaper. this is the only pic i can find:
