if you respect yourself as a driver you won't take bumpers Dayan Who on earth would want to hit such a beautiful car (signed : a bumperless driver for the past 3 years)

Hi It's been a while. I love the color !!!! Dayan, I booked a flight that will take me to Delhi first and after newyear to Sri Lanka. I'm happy to take a small part for you, as long as it's not a gearbox or something of that heavyness because I will have to carry it everywhere

WHOA ! that looks great !!!! i will most likely be in Sri Lanka second week of december ! mail what you need I destroyed the engine of the 405 Mi16 a few weeks ago, because of a bad maintained road, it's insurance work now. here's a sexier pic

it's fantastic Dayan, it feels very familiar to my previous mi16 but this one is obviously more sophisticated. i think it's a wonderful experience to have both GTJ and Mi16 at the same time, it's as different as it can get but both really enjoyable. they are absolutely my dreamcars. i think the GTJ has the edge, as it's 18 years older. When i stationary rev the Alfa's 2.0 engine it also seems far stronger because the mi16 is just a high rev with a digital fuel management. they are both dohc but the comparison ends just there. properly adjusted Weber carbs are beautiful as you might notice from the above picture the Alfa GTV's here are a pest they seem to be everywhere (I live uptown) the GTJ really turns everyones's heads. the Mi16 only turns heads of enthusiasts blessed are the designer classics (and their owners)

it's been a while..sorry for not being able to answer sooner. i just arrived from Biarritz I added a 405 Mi16 phase II 2.0 to my carcollection : it's a great machine, it's got all the options and seems to be in a very good condition. It's nice not to have to worry about corrosion this time. I had the Bertone's suspension fixed, it was a small nightmare to have it done properly. It comes down to some small maintenance now. How's your project progressing ?

I am jaleous Dayan, driving thru Sri Lanka must be the greatest experience. In all honesty I was about to sell my alfa, i was so fed up with it (translated : stationary alfa's totally suck but when they drive they are a dream) Now I am all full with energy, I made a promise to myself and I will keep this Bertone for another 3 years. When gas prices will reach 2 € a litre I better spend them inside my dream car

after 33 years in this moist climate I am not surprized, the paint is bubbling everywhere and I am sure i will have this issue many more times the coming years. I won't go for a complete bodywork restauration because I can't afford that, i will just have to patch things up I see your car is in better shape I wouldn't dare sanding mine. It would fall apart

Hi Dayan, personally I think the snakes and "alfa romeo" stickers make it very ordinary, a car like this is best bloodred with a white part on the nose it's not a 155. it's best if you find a good example on the internet of how other people did it, as it is difficult to come up with a great design yourself. I saw someone with the sump-protector painted in the Italian colors, it's a modest but nice effect. i am looking for a great 405 Mi16 again, I think I've found a nice red phase2 with only 100k. Then the alfa will be just for weekends (it's way to expensive to maintain if driven daily, it's just too unreliable). The Morgan +4 supersports has driven it's first mile this week, the gearbox is very noisy

After a few months of complete "I will never have anything to do with Alfa again !", I have resumed maintenance on my Bertone. New starter, a finished interior and a fixed exhaust. How's your Bertone Dayan? Can I see some pictures??
  14. Pb2k

    Alfa Romeo

it's in fine condition however the exhaust is becoming looser, so it sounds like a Volkswagen beetle at low revs, but near perfect at higher revs.. i'll have a look at it next sunday

Dayan, if you don't care too much about originality, like you shouldn't, THIS must be a fine inspiration its street legal and it just sold for around 3k what I like about this car is it high Fun factor a plain black alfa romeo gt bertone !
  16. i'll have my iphone in 2 days, a friend will bring one from the USA. In Germany they cost 999 euro's, in New York only 300. Maybe I miss a feature or two, but I think I can live with that

The Carello's are hard to find, but a whole set of 4 just as good new lights is €165,00 thats without the rings (at 11,50 a piece) Carello's for the rear are even more expensive at €91,40 a piece I was stunned with the prices for door handles : 190 for 2 and i lost my K&N filters for the carburettors somewhere in the garage, they cost a small fortune too I've seen a 2 litre engine for 550 bytheway it's great everything is still available though !! Anything you buy will last long enough as the materials used are far better than alfa used in the 70's.

I like the shape of the Berlina but I doubt if he will ever finish it. I spent a whole 2 hours in the traffic jams to Rotterdam this morning. Sitting there in the rain, and I could feel raindrops that got thru the window, somehow I wondered how a nice modern car would be. Then I got to work and spotted my red shiny car on the parkinglot and I changed my mind again I just got a nice original Elma headlight for my car, old but still in the original box Because I had to work extra this weekend I didnt have time to put the suspension together, I hope to do that this weekend. Also I need to powdercoat my new wheels, shiny black.

they are awesome cars and there seems to be a lot of replica's in japan I like the functional minimalism, like the fueltank inside your trunk. shame you didn't catch that 90 in time. I finally got my springs, they look and feel really tough, they will be fitted on saturday together with the Koni's and other small things like sparkplugs, window mechanism and rubbers. And the new wheels too. I am very curious about how it will drive afterwards. Also i bought some foam plates to reduce the noise inside the cabin, because it's really too loud now. The gearbox is annoyingly loud in 4th and 5th. There is a nearly completely restored 1750 Mk1 for sale here for 4000 euro's. bargains are still abundant.
  20. they seem to have a nasty habit

    Alfa Romeo

that is amazing I finally got the car driving again. The 75TS starter engine is very strong. At first I thought I didn't bolt it right but it's just very loud. It's great to drive again, too bad fuel is at an alltime high here : 1.62€ a litre. I now consider it all a practical hobby to justify the costs. Tomorrow I will get the wheels, and if I have time I can put new tires onto them the same day. Next week I will fit the whole suspension , because I still haven't got the springs I ordered a few weeks ago. GTA rims cost about 1100€ a set at www.arparts.nl the wheels you like cost more
  22. Pb2k

    Alfa Romeo

wow !! sometimes these wheels are for sale but they cost at least 2000€ and you need adjusted GTA bodyworks

I'm happy if it's of any help. Today I received my new "veerpootschotels" which rougly translates to the iron dishis that holds the suspension in place. it's awesome tough quality, bought them from autoparts brummen. It made me so happy I ordered a whole new window mechanism too. And scored a box with all kinds of 2nd hand rubbers for the alfa for € 30 i did an offer on these wheels if you're looking for something special, let me know.

cheap addresses for new Alfa Bertone parts : i hope it helps you http://www.arparts.nl/index_onderdelen.htm http://www.autopartsbrummen.nl/site/ this week i am in sort of a shopping spree for my alfa..i put all other hobbies aside and just want to do this right. I am happy with the news that one of my neighbours kids has professional equipment to clean hardware. There is so much nice stuff to buy, I am surprised with the high amount of small parts that build 1 bertone. everything is for sale if you know where to find it.

I'm sorry to hear that, but wow, thats a lot of money for this type of engine I bought my 2 litre twincam for 400 euro's (Alfetta 2 litre with modded low carter). I bought the twin Webers for 250 euro's. Just to give you an idea about prices. The 2 litre is not so difficult to get, but the matching flywheel is. If this one dies prematurely I might go for a 2.0 TS engine from a 75 twinspark: It's cheap, more powerful (180HP) and easy to fit without a lot of mods.
