it's really hard to explain the exact issue. i'm referring the open to floater and fuel pump. lid to be mounted to tank with bolts. lid seal is there. but due to some reason (can not understand how this happened) surface where we are to fix the lid is not even. hence though we fully tighten the lid, there is a gap between tank and lid at some places. since the nuts seems to be welded to tank, this seems to be a bit advance tinkering work to repair the surface.

i also had the same issue. (1999- Butterfly model) replaced some components at Gear Box. costs 50,000.00 now this is OK

sorry that the leak is at cap/lid of the tank. and make of car is Honda

yes theoratically wheel alignment could affect the fuel efficiency but no practical experience yet. anyhow i also got a familia recently and it is a 1.5 4wd car. still i am to replace ATF and do the engine tune up. i was able to change the engine oil only. wheel alignment also is pending. but it does 8km in Colombo (heavy traffic) and 11KM in outstation with AC .

are U using 4wd car? if so max U can is 8KM in Colombo and 11-12 in outstation..

what i'm having is FAMILIA 2001 -1.5 BJ5P 4WD (full time) AUTO Dual Air Bag RPM model Teak interior (i have all the options which Mazda offers other than sunroof) does 8-9 in Colombo 10-12 outstation this must be the worst one as per Srilankan Market. (4WD ...AUTO ) still i'm comfortable in fuel consumption... fun to drive.... i've driven 323 and Honda also..frankly telling you all that, sprint power is less and ground clearance is less on my one comparitively. but you can experience super riding conditions on FAMILIA . cool breeze AC is good (better than a Mitsubishi). superior shockabsorbtions / suspension.ABS is very good. even at a speed over 110kmph can control the car comfotabaly...... loves...... during last weekend i had a visit to Deniyaya Ratnapura area. muddy and slippery roads with bad tyres. (really no sooner I have to change those) a 121, a yaris and also a city joined with us. no body was able to reach some places ...HA HA HA... but me ..... yes i have done. others were wondering about Mazda.... but no body knows that ... my car is a 4WD one. hey do not tell anybody pls.... i have to have few more compititions ......
