Thanks Bro, Good to know new vios is comming to Sri Lanka. I have Yaris and Belta JDM. It seems even Wiki is confused with Vios, Yaries and Belta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Vios
-
Bro, Yes Vios is manufactures in Thailand and the cars that comes to Sri Lanka from Singapore. Vios is a good car on fuel economy and my one does around 11km/ltr with AC on and in traffic. I have seen many advertistments claiming it goes to 14 km/lts in city but I doubt. But for sure it does around 11-12 in city if you maintain in properly. Vios is not the most comfortable car in terms of suspension but it is not a bad car to drive. But is notories for sluge in VVT valve and you need to maintain it properly. All in all I am satisfied with the car specailly if you consider value for money. But I dont think now Vios are imported and next generation of Vios is called Belta. http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=35036

I had the same experiance with my Toyota. When I complained that car is vibrating they recommended me to do a tune up and I accepted. After that the vibration is become more. Still I am running with that thinking what to do. Most probabaly your case can be due to high idle after tune up. Cheers

Bro, When I register my car in 2009 July, I got a KI-XXXX, but if i pay more I could go between KI and KL. Therefore it will be really difficult to identify regristration year by looking at the number series. If you can have a closer look at the car, you can check the registration sticker pasted on the windscreen, there you can find the registered year in the top. But to have a look in to the sticker is not always possible. Cheers

Deal All! This is to conclude that I was able to remove the nut and now I am running freely. I was dealing with this kind of nut 5 Spline Lug Nut I searched almost all the places in Colombo to find a tool to remove this but was unsuccessfull. Finally went to the famous lathe shop and Cotta Road and took 30 min to remove it Thank you very much for your advise/help regarding this. Cheers ACG.

Mate: Where is the place? Cheers
-
I actually I tried AC Paul and seems they dont have. I found these tools in Ebay but I dont find the exact tool for 5 spline. There is one guy in ebay who has 5 spline sokect but unfortunately, he does not ship to Sri Lanka It seems the only option to remove it by force. Any good place to do that? thanks for your input Cheers ACG

Mate; it a VIOS, Actually I found that this nut is very rare amoung the lug nuts as well. This is a standard size nut with 5 grooves. I think this is refered as 5 spline nut, so I think I require a 5 spline socket to remove this Thanks ACG

Actually I was not provided one and do you know a place to buy these? Correction: This nut is also refered as "Lug Nut" as well Cheers

Hi All! I have run in to a big problem on removing two of my wheels in case a flat tyre. Out of four nuts that fix the wheel, one of them is a special kind. Normally it is refered as a 'lock nut' and normally comes with alloy wheels. My problem is that there are no proper tools to remove that nut and normall tools do not fit into that correctly. I have tried many tools shops including famous ones in Colombo. I would like to hear you from experts on what can I do to remove this nut since I am running currently with great risk Cheers ACG.

Mate: I did the same thing one year back with my car. I moved to CEAT based on the primary fact that it is a Sri Lankan product. I had the same issue and the vibration came around 40 kmph. When I replace it with a good brand that vibration is gone. Believe me, the CEAT tires have problems more than the vibration. It is very notorious to have cracks at the side wall of the tire and I had them all of my four tires. I think this is due to the fact that the CEAT tire is very hard on the car. Additionally you will have a shorter lifespan on your rack ends, tire rod ends, etc. I will never advise anybody to use CEAT although it is a SL product Cheers

Mate; On shifting from Drive to Sport: There are two basic reasons why you should do: One is to power up the car and get higher speed at a quick time. For this dont shift down. Just press the accelarator little more and the vehical will do that for you. Second reason is for engine braking while downhill. For this, my feeling is you can downshift while driving but you need to be carefull on what maximum speed you can go on each gear. For example my owners manuall (my car is not ES 8) says you can go up to 96 km/h on 2nd and 51 km/h on first. So you should not exceed those limits. On shifting from Drive to neutral, I dont think it will be a problem for the vehical, but it can be a problem for you. What if you are on Neutral and some vehical comes to knock you at a speed. You will need to shift to Drive and then accelarate. This delay can be the difference between getting a knock or move harmless. Cheers.

Hi Guys In terms of fuel consumption, I dont think the FB15 is a good option either. It also rarely does more than 10km/liter in colombo. As far as I am concerned the figure is 9 km/l. FB15 suspension is pretty owful and it is very common that you have to replace the shocks every year. It is also well known for its sensor problem. On the good side, you can find spare parts easily and they are not that expensive as well. Comparing FB15 with VIOS, I think Vios is a much better car compared to FB15 on my own experiace. I am having a vios now and my previous car was FB15. Vios is pretty good on fuel compared to FB15 and much smoother suspension as well Cheers

I think the price range is around 3 to 3.1m for a 2005 model. But there were some cars that were going below this range but the condition was not that good. I felt this car is having much better condition. But you never know ... There is some differences in prices based on the colour as well and Red for Vios is bit higher than the other colors. But i am not an expert on that. 3.1m included everything, registration at RMV, revenue licence, etc. I just paid and took the car with me.

Bro; I purchased it un-registered for 3.12 million about 1 month ago. It is auto gear and it is with full body kit and colour is wine red. The milage was 35k and so far it does 12 per liter in colombo on 95 Octane. This was purchased from a small car sale. I got to know them via on of my friends. I actually check the prices from other reputed places. I looked at one from Indra and it was 2004 model and the price was 3.05m. The interier condition was pretty bad and the milage was 25k Looked at another one 2004 one and it was priced at 2.9m but I didnt like that car. Thank you all for the advices. Cheers

Dear Experts I recently purchased re-conditioned Vios. Now I want to do a full check up of the vechial to identify any issues related to that. So far is working OK, but I still want to know what the issues with it are. Any suggestions on the place and price range where I can do a full check up. Many suggested to go to Toyota Lanka. Is that a good place? Cheers and Thanks ACG
