Thanks Nishan, I am not looking for the original booster. I think of finding a booster that is powerful and match to the master pump or, find both booster + master pump that match to the vehicle. So which vehicle's booster and master pump you use now? Hasn't is required to alter the body or the clutch pump to fix it? Thanks.
-
Hi Nishan, It is happy to see that you have done it well. Did you replace the Master Pump as well? If not what kind of booster you use? Did you buy a brand new one or reconditioned one? I have the original 4DR5 master pump and any powerful booster that fits to it (especially the push rod and all) is ok I guess. So I really appreciate if you can tell me the place you bought it. (A friend of mine told me to look around Delkanda instead of panchikawatta for reconditioned one). Thanks.

Hi Don, Thanks for the reply. I am not looking for original booster and also the one I have now is also some other type. The pump is original and the booster is some other type. Later I found that the push rod coming out from the booster (current one which is not damaged) is not touching master pump's piston at normal position. So I am looking for a compatible one now that could fit to the 4DR5 brake master pump. So if you can suggest a brand it would be helpful. Thanks indeed.

Hi Nilantha, Just had a search in panchikawatta for a brake booster and I brought the master pump as well to get the booster. Though the master pump is original 4DR5 one the current booster is not. It's something else. However I could find 2 original reconditioned ones and any of those didn't work. To make it work, it has to be repaired (the packing has to be changed) that will cost for the total around 15000 (for the reconditioned one + change the packing). Other problem is that, I have the original 4DR5 master pump and the booster I have now does not 100% fit to it. (the axle coming out from the booster does not long enough to fit to the master pump.) Therefore if I change the booster I have to change the master pump as well. So what would you recommend? Any cost effective and durable solution for that? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Nilantha, The one I have now is "NISSIN Master Power NM180V-5, No. 61021-5535" and anything that fits and give the power to the 4DR5 J44 is good. Would you recommend anything?
-
You mean original brand new would cost around 12000. Any shop that I can try original brand new and/or used booster? (I don't look for the original 4DR5 one. anything that can power up than the original & match the size is Ok I guess) Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the reply. But may I ask why is it so? Is there a special reason like higher price or the brands coming as brand-new are not really Japanese?
-
Hi friends, I had posted a thread regarding brakes previously and thanks to all, Now I need to know a better place to buy a brake booster. The one I have now is a NISSIN (NISSIN Master Power NM180V-5, No. 61021-5535) brand and I think it is also something that was replaced by the previous owner (Not the original one). Last week I went to see some shops but thought of asking someone who knows well before buying. I am looking for an brand-new one which I think is better than having a reconditioned one even if it may cost a little. Anyway the one I have is now cannot be used and I think boosters are not be able to repair. (Pls correct me if I am wrong). Mostly I found the SEIKEN brand in panchikawatte and don't know whether it is actually a Japanese or something duplicated. Anyway please post a reply if you know anything about this or what to see for buying a brake booster. The vehicle is 4DR5 J44 and highly appreciate your feedback. Thanks. Nishan

Thank you for the info. First I will get the paint done. Then the canopy.

Thanks a lot miniace. How about Horana cushion? Did you get any cushion works from them?
-
Why not. Please post. A better one? Have you get something done? Thanks a lot.
-
Hi miniace, Thanks for the reply. Well I am from Matale but not I am in colombo. Though there are tinker baas there, Its hard for them to do a jeep specially if there are adjustments need to be done on places where shape is very important like mudguards. So I was kind of looking someone who can do it. I think this is the place you mentioned as "Horana cushion" is it? Horana Cushion Works View Add No 10, Sri Somananda Road, Horana. 034-2264273 034-4283514 And also please suggest a tinker baas. Thanks a lot.

Thanks Watchman , Yes I was having hand brake problem sometime back. And also some brake issue. Thanks to you guys and my friend Janith, I was able to fix it. Now it seems I have to replace the booster and thought of having discs at front (or may be all if its not so costly). But I am not so sure how to do it. (I am not doing it but Its a must that I know how to do it you know the bass works ) As bass said, I have to find axles that comes with disc brakes. But doesn't know which ones will suit the best and also want to consider the maintenance cost as well. (some axles that has disc may cost more and after fixing it, the pads and all will also cost more than some other compatible ones. Anyway if cost comes with the quality, it may not be an issue.) Basically I have no idea about this and kindly correct me if anything above is wrong. Highly appreciate your comments and advices. Thanks.

Hello there, Someone please help me out to find out a place where I can get my jeep works done. It needs some tinkering works and new paint with canopy (a better one for the AC) and also have some mechanical things too. Its bit hard a normal tinker bass to get the shape of the mudguards and some parts because one of it has damaged a little bit that is why I look for such place. Also suggest me whether it is a stupid idea to have disc brakes rather than drums? (have to replace though). Thanks a lot in advance.

Are these only for cars? How about jeeps?
-
Hello friends, Its good to see the forum got a new look. So I was looking for a Electric Air Pump to buy for 4DR5 jeep and was having a little bit of searching on ebay as well. I think there are plenty of those in the panchikawaththa. But since I have no clue about which ones are better and what kind of one is the most suitable one for me, I've decided to ask you guys. So I think you are already using one for your SUV or Car. Then please give me some information about it. The ones use for Cars are ok with jeeps? And which parameters do I need to look at mostly? Thanks a lot in advance. Regards, Nishan

Thanks to Sylvi and harshansenadhir, Both of you have given a very good explanation. As harshansenadhir said the heating system is manual and have to turn the ignition key to anti clock wise & the indicator is right above the ignition key(which is also manually can see. - not a bulb) and we can see it's getting heated. Mine it takes about 18-30 secs in the morning to heat properly. I was thinking that it is the correct time duration it takes but 'Ripper' said it has to be around 5 seconds. So is there anything that makes it take little longer? (Anyway I have to get it checked). The engine is in a very good condition and i serviced the injector pump recently and replaced the nozzle and replaced the batteries as well.
-
Thanks Ripper, I think it is the problem with glowplugs because I replaced the batteries recently. So how do we check the glowplugs to make sure its time to replace them? Thanks.
-
Hi friends, Can anyone explain why is it required to heat the engine before start in 4DR5 Jeeps? It may required in some other vehicles as well. The vehicle can be started even without heating but it is recommended to heat. So what does it happen if the vehicle is started without heating. Mine, it takes 18-30 seconds to light up the heating indicator just above the key in the dash board & I think its the average time it takes. Please post anything you know. Thanks in advance. Regards, Nishan (just found this on yahoo answers.)

Hi Stig. Its great that we could share so much information on this post and we expect more. But do you think that buying a toolkit from ebay is a good idea instead of visiting the seller in locally and see the item physically? I normally buy electronic related stuff from ebay & haven't bought this kind of item ever. So I am bit not ok with it. Anyway you may have some experience on that. So what is your and all others idea about that? Thanks.
-
Thanks Sylvi. Yes I am looking for DIY projects. Not the things like engine repairs but smaller ones which is interesting to DIY.
-
Hello Friends, I was looking for a toolkit at panchikawaththa last week and I got stuck with many of those available at the market. I wanted to buy a good toolkit which can be used for general purpose (which I use it for a 4DR5 J44 Jeep) but ended up visiting few shops without buying anything. I went to ACP**ls and they had separate tools but not as single kits. Its always good to spend little extra (not too much ) and get something better that is durable and can be used some time long. So I hope any of you have bought a general purpose good quality toolkit from somewhere around panchikawattha. Please post good shops and the brands if there are any. Thanks a lot in advance. Regards, Nishan

According to your post the problem is not on your fuse board wiring or fuse board connected circuits.Remove all wires from your alternator and check up. Still there is a current draw. It is some where else get a electrician to check up your vehicle, there may be some unit is drawing current from your batteries. 3.3 Amps if a unit is drawing current battery will go down in few hours, after 12 to 18 hours stop you will have difficulty in starting Sylvi Wijesinghe. Thanks Sylvi. I did not check the alternator and surely I am going to check it as you said. And also what you said is true. 3.3 Amps is not a small one and I get the problem of starting in the following day morning if I forget to remove the terminals in the evening. (To be honest ) Anyway thanks to you guys I am going to check all and find the problem. But before going to an electrician, I like to find where the problem. Thanks.
-
Thanks Ripper. You are right. This model does not have any automatic stuff and complex wiring and therefore it should not consume that much. There is a stereo in the vehicle and I removed the wire of it and all other 12V appliances (Reverse light + Roof light) as well to check whether any of those causes the problem. But bad luck. They did not consume. May be something else.

Hello friends, I just went through the procedures of this URL to find any electrical leaks because I found that when the jeep (4DR5 J44) is idle for few days the batteries are getting weak. So the result I got is 3.3 which would be a problem according to the above post. (I have mentioned the steps that the above post has said to find an electrical leak below). I removed the fuses one by one to see what is the problem but even after removing the last fuse i got the reading as 3.3 Amps. It means (Lets hope) the problem is in between the battery and the fuse board. I am sure anyone of you have gone through this problem before or at least know something about it. So please kindly post your answer which I really thank you in advance. STEPS Step 1: Setting up the volt meter. Connect the test leads to the appropriate spots. Negative in the negative spot and positive to the 10A spot. Set the meter setting to 10A on the dial as well. I used the full amp setting for this test but you can use more accurate settings if you preffer. Your battery must also have a charge when performing this test. You can use the volt meter to test this by connecting the positive and negative leads to the positive and negative battery terminals respectively. The reading should be somewhere around 12.6 Volts if the battery is 100%. Step 2: Disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative battery terminal. As per bluej511, this test may require that you connect the leads to the terminal and cable before disconnecting them (see step 3). This is because the draw might be coming from a relay that might close when the terminals are disconnected and the circuit is broken. This wasnt necessary in my case but your case may be different. Step 3: Connect the negative lead to the negative battery terminal and the positive lead to the negative wire (ground wire) and check the reading. If there IS NOT an electrical leak, the reading should be around 0.01. Might be from 0.00 - 0.05 depending on the vehicle. You can always call the service department at your local dealership like I did to get the specification. This small current is to keep small things running such as ecu memory, stock alarm ext. The reading I got was anywhere from 0.15 - 0.21 so there was definitely a problem. Step 4: Begin to pull fuses one at a time until the reading drops to where it should be. Keep in mind that there are fuses that must be screwed in that will channel all the electricity from the battery (100A and 40A in my case). Removing these will result in the reading dropping but these are not the source of your issue. It is a good idea to start with any fuses that would most likely be the cause of the problem. Aftermarket things such as decks or if you recently replaced your headlamps as examples
