Long distance or short distance average speed and load also matters a lot to fuel consumption in Prius. If the change is after the tuning and there are no other changes then take it back to the arabian motors and get it checked. I assume you have maintained the car as per manufacturers instructions. (also hope you have taken increase in traffic due to new year last few weeks were also taken to consideration) I haven't experianced any difference in fuel consumption based on the octane in my Prius 3rd Gen. If you are uncomfatable with the situation, best thing to do is get the car cheked at the agents.

What is so smart in the so called smart key if a person with some type of a transmitting device who is not from manufacturer or its agent can open the car without leaving any trace that it was open. If its a metal key you find some physical damage in most of the cases if someone opens the car and also there is a higher chance someone might able to notice the incident since you have to struggle a bit to break in. How nice it will be to find a fire arm or something like that in your car when you go home after work.

I don't recommend a hybrid for you since this is your first car since we don't have lot of experts around to help you if you faced with issues I think you can consider Vitz and Demio for your requirements apart from "Seats 5"

There is something called kick down in auto vehicles for overtaking, what that means is when you press the accelerator to the maximum level or when you suddenly accelerate gear will be changed to lower gear (if you were on 4th it will got to 3rd etc) when overtaking that is the normal way to get more power under normal driving conditions :-)

take out the thermostat valve and put it on a boiling water (100C) you will see it is getting opened and then put it in cold water (30C or less) then the valve should get closed. do this few times and see how it opens and closes. also check the tension of the spring when it is cold if valve is not closing properly or if it is the valve spring is too loose then you need to replace with the correct valve. also check the radiator cap for the correct pressure that it opens and closes. you can check this roughly by reving the engine under hot and cold conditions, unless there is not enough coolant or too much coolant there wont be much of in or out flow of coolant from radiator (about 100ml of in flow or outflow would be normal) also check your radiator and AC fans. I have seen some AC mechanics have hard wired the AC condenser fan to run the fan irrespective of the temperature that can also cause problems if both radiator and AC condenser face the same airflow.

I replaced the shock absorbers of our townace (KR42) with KYB and didn't felt any difference from the old once I removed, but after replacing them with Toyota genuine shock absorbers felt a real difference in handling and comfort. thats my experience better to check with others about KYB on CS1.

in any car under normal driving conditions temp gauge should stay in middle. it looks like your EK3 cooling system is not working properly. ideally when the heat transfer is good due to higher amount of wind blow through radiator the thermostat valve should close the water flow and maintain the optimal working temperature for the engine. better to take your car to a good mechanic and identify where the issue is and rectify if possible. making engine to run under optimal temperature gives better millage and low engine wear.

Yes the third light mentioned was a fog light. I have seen this feature in most of the Volvos in SL and in lot of the cars in US. In some makes and models, this rear fog lights get turned on when you switch on the fog lamps and in some vehicles with auto mode (where head lights are turned on and off by sensing the lighting condition and visibility through some sensors) it may come up based on the conditions.
