  1. Well There are few other problems in importing cars from European market. One is that if you want to bring the Japanese makes, the models in Europe are very different from ones you could see here. Secondly the CIF value of the many European cars are much higher than Japanese ones. Thirdly I do not think many European brands are cost effective options for local usage as the running cost is higher (Parts and FC) and the secondhand market is very dull. Shipping is another issue. I really explored this as I was eligible for a blue permit. But the car would have been "sada oba mage" considering all the costs involved.
  2. Yes. Car dealers in Japan are working as a clan to raise the prices in Japan by good few thousands of US$. Then the car dealers at home and brokers! They work collectively to rob our money. At the end of the day same old story. It is not the end user who benefits from the tax reduction. The people who suck blood and flesh of common people. There is mafia everywhere you go. I think we should form a group here and try to get vehicles ourselves. Surely it should be non-profitable user group to see the back of these leeches, who wait to suck our hard earned money. I am sure we could do it as many people here are quite capable of doing it. I have seen in many foreign forums ( for example one HIFI equipment forum, of which I have been a pro member) have "group buy clans", who get together and bring gear for members themselves. By doing it as a group they reduce many overheads finally affecting the pricing.
  3. I checked I***a T***ers at Kandy, when I went there. They quoted 4.5 mil for an Axio and said it is the new price!!!!
  4. Only caveat is the market perception. But Mazda is a wonderfully reliable car. Unfortunately only Toyotas will gain value in secondhand market. 121 is a good example. We sold a 121 about four years ago for 2.8 mil. Recent market value was 3.5+. I think people here can do a wonderful job to change the market perceptions. Perhaps a review section by experts and users? I know there is an automobile Mag, which does some work.
  5. Yeah, We should tolerate this kind of open and "transparent" hoaxes, which was approved by the supreme policy making body of the country, with people's mandate (Virtual) because corruption is a global phenomenon, though it is supposed to be done in secrecy. Oh Oh I am not supposed to comment on these. My apologies folks!
  6. That is the model imported by the Toyota Lanka. And there were some complaints in one online petition by some doctors against local agents for the special version they brought for permit holders. They feel that they have been cheated(not bitching against Toyota Lanka!!!) Go through internet reviews. Many people quote even 16-18 KM/L (long range) which I doubt. But it is more spacious and has better looks. And it seems to be more responsive and has better handling for sure.
  7. Oh I meant to say it is good grounds for us to hunt for vehicles. Importation. It is closer and hence less expenses. But I honestly don't know about the market there. I was told by one chap morning that he can bring a good AXIO for 3.4 mil. His cut is 50000 to 75000/- It seem to be a fully transparent transaction. But should carefully looked into. This is bad news for those 121 owners. 121 got its reputation for its FC. Who would buy an old 121 for 3.5 mil when newer AXIO with same FC and better looks around 3.4 mil? So they are welcome to keep the vehicles quoting magic prices!
  8. Singapore is a real contender! I agree.
  9. Hey Buddy! I have enough wisdom and maturity not to be offended by comments made by you and others. You don't know me well at all. You know me only by few comments made regarding cars here. My point of view regarding many things our country and Britain is quite different. My point of view, here, was only regarding the automobile business since this is a such forum. Ain't it? Merc and BMW comparison was merely just a remark regrading cars. When I first posted in this forum too I said Sri Lankan automobile business and market is a weird one. So it is strange. I was discussing in that context. So generalizing the subject to whole of Sri Lanka was a product of your abstract mind extrapolating things. Subject of the taxes, I got as much as of the taxes I was robbed by the Brits and they have systems for tax return for people like me. This is no bitching against SL or patronizing UK. But there are good points in their tax system too. For example the way their social welfare system runs. The way they look after disabled and elderly. So money taken as taxes goes down the society in a more efficient way than here. I do not think any one dispute that. The percentage of wastage of public money, when it reaches the grass root level, have been a well known hot subject here recently. There is corruption every where in the world. But generally speaking the magnitude and the transparency is different from country to country. I am humble enough to take note from others systems if that benefits my self. As an intellectual returning back home it is my duty to bring good points from those systems and perhaps try to impose them here. We are far better in some aspects than Brits, who robbed us in the past to live like that. They are in a big hole now too. But they have good qualities as well. I do not want to tell some of the attitudes I liked there. People may get offended. But learned those from them. I am a humble person. For example in my trade we need big changes in attitudes for betterment of service. Just changes in attitudes would make it hundred times better, forget the infrastructure. But dear friend there is stiff resistance to do that. Why? We do not want to take good points from others. When we try to do that it is labelled as bitching! LOL When we suggest top politicos a subtle change that is essential to improve the system? Well there is stiff resistance. Answer? Well we do better than most "third world" countries so why improve???? This is when in the first Parliament, the first priority was to get 50000$ permit free vehicles! Do you like that? Forget about the UK. I want my country to be a better place. More efficient tax systems, better and fair trade, better services for the poor and better attitudes. I do not want it to be as it is and think " we are what we are" Then join the rest. Anyway another thing I have noticed in this forum is a little arrogance. Not comparing or bitching again. But I have seen people have their own personal things against others and very cold comments. But it is beyond me. Usually when I am offended I like to irritate others. Then they do make mistakes. he he he I should keep my cool and make them irritate. That comes from little experience dealing with dirty politicos regarding issues related to my trade. So some of the comments were worded merely to irritate you all though they all are facts. So if you think you have taught me a good lesson be happy! Pleasure is yours. It had been a privilege to entertain you. Thank you for the lessons. You may be very nice person. How should I know? I do not judge you by the limited unpleasant remarks you made to me without knowing me. No hard feelings. (-: But I returned I love people here. mainly poor innocent folks of Sri Lanka. I have my own opinion about the class I belong. We have our own crisis to settle. he he he Well back again to main topic! Lets not drag this anymore. If you can help me in AXIO thingy please PM me. (-:
  10. 2007/2008 accident free Axio with 10-20K mileage ranges from 9000-11000 US$ in Japanese market. I am sure, one can buy an Axio for a lesser value, if someone is doing the searching for you!
  11. Sorry folks! Double post!
  12. Axio Corolla G for 3.8 mil? Good news! I am certain this is the car for me after going through lots of reviews. It is efficient, fairly good handling, good fuel economy and looks. Inner space is not bad too. Perhaps best car for masses, considering golden reputation of Toyota in the second hand market. May know where is this place, if you don't mind? Please PM me!
  13. Agreed that is why people come to this lovely land! And don't we all want it to be a better one? Wonder of Asia? For that we should change some of our ways. There is no rocket science about it. Just change the common attitudes and stop corruption and work hard. Perhaps to take lessons outside to do it. We are there!
  14. Hey mate! £65 an hour! At least 8 hours a day! At least five days a week! You are in charge of how to choose your hours (8 or 12) And number of days too. HIGH DEMAND FOR THE TRADE BECAUSE BRITISH BUGGARS DO NOT WANT TO STRESS THEMSELVES! If you have any friends check yourself! No wonder British government has become envious of our trade and want to stop us robbing their money (new conservative buggars)! he he he Yet most of people in my trade choose to come home after earning! Because they love home and work satisfaction you get here! People who gets my service are more than happy and grateful for my ways buddy! I am putting that practice into good effect and have made good for those people. Anyway thank you for reminding! I am not prepared to accept "We are what we are" Will try to do changes in my own little way where I can do those! That is why this bickering about honesty and fair trade ! I am sorry if I hurt any ones feelings doing that! No reason to be if you are honest and fair!
  15. I agree with you. I never judge people by few comments that they made. I am doing and have done enormous amount of work after I came back. People live in castles around colombo wouldn't have dreamed of doing those. I do not think we are a third world country. I never judge people by their cars and way they live. That is why I have the guts to use a reasonable car. But rest of the society do not. See how many questioned my earnings and going for a small car? COMMON WAY OF THINKING. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GIVE UP THAT LIFE AND COME BACK AND LIVE A CHARMING LIFE! HE HE HE WE WOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT! And If we had that chance we wouldn't have come is it? Well I do not want to irritate people here anymore! Lets talk about new tax scheme and how we can get maximum out of it. If I really state my feelings and ways about how we should proceed, I am sure people here will suddenly change my label from "colonial loyalist" to a member of one infamous political party (which I hate).
  16. oh oh! Now I shouldn't have told the numerical values! (-: But if you work hard you can earn that! he he he Envious is it? I worked hard as I wanted to come back and take a proper chunk when I return! He he he True love for country! I never compared the two systems. It is ridiculous to do that. But attitudes and honesty! well I guess I can not compare those because we are an oriental spiritualistic Buddhist country! I do not worship them. I used to tell them point blank that they robbed us to live like that. I do not question my coming back. I love this country. But I honestly have a concern the way it heads. Mostly the attitudes! I do not see we will change our attitudes and will make it a honest society. Well we will see. I am surprised people judge others by few comments made in a forum without knowing them. It is hard to believe that people like us came back while earning that much??? Guess if they volunteered to go to war zone giving up that much income? he he he
  17. Yup But as I have common sense and brains, I do not want to show off by buying an RX8. I am sensible! That is why I went for a secondhand when I knew taxes are going to be reduced for sure! Now I will get a reasonable sedan from Japan without feeding sharks around. Many people waiting to buy secondhand cars haven't seen a price drop. Why? There was a rumor that taxes would be reduced cars below 1000cc when I knew it was going to be across the broad. Who told this? Mainly car dealers! Now there is a rumor that taxes would be increased after three months. Not to my knowledge! Who says these? I wonder. Perhaps people, who wants to keep artificial market going! I will never be able to earn that much for sure in future! Unless I become a politico or a middleman business person!!!! (-: So got to be sensible! And I do not think, we should go for luxurious flashy cars in Sri Lanka. If you really love the country. Revenue Drain! Another hot topic oops!!!!!
  18. The project of the day Shall we find out how many countries have 300% taxes plus other taxes for cars in "so called" 3rd world?
  19. (-: Why the aggression bro? (-: I love my country that is why I returned! And loving the motherland by example! he he he I was just pointing out the differences in the system. I know there are difficulties living in a foreign land. But the quality of life is certainly better and social benefit systems are better. Just wanted to show those facts as we are trying to be the wonderland in Asia! So we should live in wonderland at least in our dreams. It is only a 3rd world country for people like me and poor masses. Politicos and middleman business people live better lives than people in developed countries. Why? they rob us two civics, when we buy one civic with our hard earned money!!! I know professionals are called by their name by non-professionals in the work place and they have the guts to challenge bosses when they do something Wong. Hence professionals have difficulties. I never lived in a tiny house and was drawing a monthly salary of £6000+ after taxes! Not just bloating myself. Now getting a £350 state salary here. I could buy a similar car here. But I just want to buy a mid priced sedan just to save money for me and country. Still love my country and that is why I decided to come and serve the poor, when many are trying to exit here. I will be here and die here though aggression and dishonesty is all around. But then as a human it is not unreasonable to get frustrated, when you see how professionals and honest people are treated by the state here. You have earned yourself a top position in a certain area and live honestly. There are politicos and sale gentleman to rob your money and live thousand times better than you. And the society? Do they treat you well for your honesty and hard work? Noop There are enough nice gentleman like you, who direct their very civilized and polite dialect toward people like us showing, how people are treated by the merits of their honesty and love for country. Sri Lanka is a wonderful country! Sri Lanka will be the best country in the world when we see the back of filthy politicos and dishonest middleman businessman. Perhaps then people will have the minds and dialect to respect others views with mettha and empathy. They will take good things from other systems and improve system. They will have only nice words to others. They will not show their true quality by their harsh arrogant words, while being encapsulated as Buddhists and friendliest people on earth! I hope I will see that heaven in my life time and talk to you as a friend and gentleman! Cheers buddy
  20. Getting the tax free vehicles for new politicos had been the most urgent issue of national priority in the post-election Parliament!
  21. And our tax money goes to fund tax free vehicles for Politicos!
  22. Surely One can buy a Mercs or BMW for that money in UK! Sri lanka is a strange land by all means!
  23. Surely One can buy Mercs or BMWs for that money in UK! Sri lanka is a strange land by all means!
  24. I m going to take the risk and do it. I have friends in Japan, who can find a good car for me.
