    E36 325i

Ok. Sorry got my numbers wrong.... it was a bit less than quarter tank one way, I didnt stop on my way to Habarana and on my way back to Colombo to refuel—technically the whole trip was done on half tank (30 ltrs). The best thing about the 325—once you shift to 5 on high speed the consumption just drops like nothing..... I did the same trip in my 318i but it did less on fuel on the trip.... but in Colombo I easily do more than ~10+ km/l. Thats because of the power to weight ratio on both cars. Both have the same body except the engine. For example; in slow moving traffic (20 miles) you can shift to the 4th gear in the 325 but it was impossible in the 318i and a nightmare in the 316i due to the weight—the cars simply stutter. The 316 / 318 is very good on fuel ~10km+ / ltr, but with 3 more passengers and luggage it sucks in traffic and if taken out station. The 325i on the other hand has enough power to pull 3 passengers + luggage and is amazing on fuel. VVTI what do you say?

Its a original E36–325i black sedan. Haven't done any engine swaps or modifications. 18-9XXX. I use to have a 318 ruby black sedan and E30 in the past. I have a E36–316i and a E36–325i now. Dont have any pics of the 325i. Do you happen to have any of your car? Would love to see some if you have....

I have the 2.5 ltr non-vanos unit. Yeah I know, it was very impressive indeed. I haven't had any problems with the specialist as yet, although I know of some who have had bad experiences. I haven't had anything major to be done except servicing etc. I get all the genuine parts and haven't cut any corners. So far nothing to complain. Have been going there ever since I had the e30-316i, e36-318i and now. (almost 10 years)

Debadging = removing the model number (i.e. in case of a BM; removing the 316, 318, etc badges so no one knows what model it is)

Mr Devinda_Z Hows the Z doing these days? Hopes its doing its high octane rounds in and around Colombo in style. Its been sometime since I saw it, last was during Uni I guess... Yup, mine does ~8+ mate. I don't use synthetic oil although I can benefit from service intervals spanning 10,000 miles between services. I hardly even do half of that in a year and mostly do Colombo driving.... I hate to keep the same oil in the engine for so long as the conditions we drive are totally different to those in forums at most.... I do services between every 3500-4000 miles. Mines done 76000 milles, but thats nothing for this sort of engine as far as I know.... correct me if I am wrong.... Cheers

Hey VVTI I pump 95 and get ~8+ on mine. Mostly drive during the peak hours. Did Colombo-Habarana-Colombo in just over quarter of a tank driving mostly during the day and doing 100km+ most of the time where possible. I service mine every 3500 miles with Mobil mineral oil, filters, etc @ very well known specialist in Kelaniya. Mines clocked 76000 miles. Cheers

Hey VVTI How much does yours do on fuel in city limits? I just want to do a gut check. Have been going through most BM sites, but most of the conditions driven about talked cars are different to ours.... do you use synthetic oil or mineral (Mobil) engine oil? Also, if you dont mind whats the mileage on yours? Cheers

Hi VVTi Thanks for the reply.... Any reason for de-badging? Is it a sedan / coupe / convertible? Ok sorry. Did't mean to create any confusion. I saw the 325i for sale back then, it was a sky blue more like a (silver+blue). I have driven a few BMs so far ranging from a red E30, a ruby-black 318i and currently own a 316i white sedan and a 325i black sedan. The 325i is the very last range with the non-vanos 2.5ltr before the 328i was introduced. Just trying to figure out how many more are around? Cheers

    E36 325i

Thanks VVTi 323i thats even rare than the 325i right.... as of now I know there is a convertible, a black coupe and a blue E36 (coupe/sedan- not sure). All I know abou the difference is both models is that, they both are equipped with a 2.5cc powerplant, but the 323i has more torque, less BHP and a VANOS unit. The Vanos unit adds significantly to the petrol consumption and extra torque..... any idea of good 325i though.. not to buy... but I am looking around.... just to know how many are around vs. ~25+ 318i in the country.... Cheers
  11. Hey guys, there is a group on fb if anybody is interested..... check it out. Has a bunch of BMW owners from SL on it. cheers
