That's wrong, that two stickers has nothing to do with the month of manufacturing, But with the regular mandatory vehicle inspection ( Sha.ken 車検 ) required by Japanese law. It's a long process but to get that you need to get a 点検整備記録簿 Tenkenseibi Kirokuba is a 60 point check sheet. The law specifies that a fixed list of items must be checked prior to submitting the vehicle for the Shaken test. Normally japanese garage perform this and after checking the 60 point check list they paste round sticker in the top right corner of the windshield, which has large two digits in the middle and clock like dial with one item highlighted. Large two digits in the middle means expiring year in Japanese year numbering system i.e 19 for 2007, 20 for 2008 etc. This has to be done for every 24 months After producing tenkeseibi kirokuba together with other 7 documents required and gone through inspection at government site, user is issued the Shaken sticker which should be pasted in the middle of the windshield, which displays the expiring month. Year in back ground, ( in 18,19,20 ) and on top the month Normally Japs performs Tenkenseibi Kirokuba just prior to the shaken and they both normally have same expiring month. FYI, http://www.gaijinriders.com/wiki/Shaken And also good site with images, however this page wrongly list Tenkenseibi Kirokuba as Road Tax which is wrong. http://www.tigerdude.com/japan/license/stickers.html

1. You can't pay through credit card. It's government regulation that you remit foreign exchange through the letter of credit. Unless you import through a special permit you have to follow that regulation and submit at least part of CIF value through LC. Unless you follow these regulation customs won't clear your vehicle. 2. Self importing a vehicle is indeed a complicated procedure, which involves lot of time wasting and stress. However there are lot of info in the thread I mentioned. What I get from your reply is that you didn't even bother to read that thread and you want some other to read that for you. 3. FYI, VVTi in the post #5 made a little joke.

Since this topic is about reg number, I'd like to ask slightly related question. I got to see some Carina AT 212, Corolla 121 running around with some G9-XXXX and G10-XXXX plates. They had some quite old look and I'm pretty sure they are running around for quite while. Is it legal to run a vehicle without registering for a long time?

Just going off the topic. Long time no see Mr. Silvy. Good to see you again!

Read this thread dude, it may contain some info you need.

Although technology is in development phase yet, SL private bus drivers think that they each has the prototype. :)

To change or not to change is up to you. If you change it'll be good for you more than any other.

This sick humor Pericles, he made spelling mistake while writing the word analyzing. Get your attitude right Pericles, even though this is a forum in English, the members are not native speakers. They'll have different ability levels and when they make mistake in English, nobody should not make sick humor out of the same. You may laughed of what I said as the opinion from faceless member or rabble from the streets. But know one thing Mr. Pericles, in my viewpoint you're someone with sick attitude.

Agree with Kaushma. I'm newbie and I personally don't know about anyone of you. But by reading this thread, I have to say, I don't have positive image about Pericles. We don't meet only likable people or people, whose viewpoint is acceptable to us all the time. We have to be bit tolerant with all these people. Everyone has different shortcomings and weaknesses and may make few mistakes here and there. If we don't tolerate others faults, they will not tolerate ours too. You are a moderator with huge power in AL and contributed lot to this forum to be like what is now. But that does not earn you the right to think that others opinions are not worthy.

No T10 is not sufficient to prove that you have TIN. I also had T10, but only got TIN once I visited IRD. Just bring along T10 with you to the IRD and you'll save lot of time in the process. T10 is to prove that you are indeed a PAYE taxpayer.
-
Regulations specifically says when importing a motor vehicle foreign exchange should be transferred through LC only. http://www.customs.gov.lk/law/notice.pdf
-
If you are not a PAYE tax payer they'll send you to Information Branch and interview you about your income etc. If you are a PAYE tax payer and you have T10 certificate to prove it you'll be spared that hassle. TIN is only issued once. If you have it already, you just have to VAT only. Please take your T10 certificate to prove that you are a PAYE tax payer.

I once posted some info in older forum. I will re-post it. --- 1. Contact a vehicle exporter in the exporting country and get the per-forma invoice. 2. Take the per-forma invoice to the bank and open a Letter of Credit. Bank will normally hold 110% of the CIF value mentioned in the Per-forma Invoice. 3. Once you successfully opened the LC exporter will be asked to submit the necessary documents through his bank in exporting country. Please wait till your bank receives document and after thorough checking bank will release documents required for clearing process. 4. Then get the TIN and VAT Certificate from Inland Revenue Dept. in Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mw, Colombo 2 Form http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.lk/forms/VATtemp.pdf http://www.inlandrevenue.gov.lk/forms/tin.pdf You'll need two sets of photocopies of following document - Bill of Lading - Commercial Invoice - NIC/ Passport/ Driver's Licence Also if you are PAYE tax payer you can save the visit to information branch. However you have to produce T10 certificate of PAYE tax payement or get a letter from employer that you are PAYE tax payer. 5. Then get a FORM FOR THE REGISTRATION OF IMPOTERS & EXPORTERS IN TERM OF SECTION 115 OF THE CUSTOMS ORDINANCE and fill it and submit to the ADP branch in Customs headquarters. You need TIN and VAT and form needs to be signed by Grama Niladhari and needs to paste stamp size photo and signed by JP. Also needs get certificate from bank in which you opened LC. http://www.customs.gov.lk/adp/Reg_Imp_Exp.pdf 6. Contact a good clearing agent with experience and he will handle rest of the process for you. All the good luck

My opinion. If you want Aesthetics , go with the factory fitted one. If you want Functionality find some vehicle with Audio less and install fully functional one here in SL. -
Caska Car Audio. Is It A Good One ?
nissan_fan replied to nissan_fan's question in Electrical problems
Still my thread opening questions was not answered. Typical Sri Lankan behavior here. When someone ask a question, Sri Lankans tend to say what they know about related stuff instead of providing pinpoint answer or simply saying they don't know the answer. I'll post my questions again. So that someone with knowledge can answer me. 1. How about the Caska Car audio, is it worth the price paid? 2. How much it will cost? Cheers, nissan_fan -
Caska Car Audio. Is It A Good One ?
nissan_fan replied to nissan_fan's question in Electrical problems
Thanks to you guys I learned hell-of-a-lot about cables and audio and much more. However my simple thread opening question is not answered yet. Could someone please answer that question? -
Hello there, I am thinking of installing a Caska Video system into my car. However I have several questions and hope that someone with experience will answer them. 1. What about the quality ? Is it worth the price-performance ratio ? 2. How much will it cost to me? Thanks.

Can We Trust The Auction Grades Advertised!
nissan_fan replied to gada's topic in General Automotive
You can log in to this site using user name - guest password - guest if you go to statistics sale you can see past auction sheets. If you know the chassis no of certain vehicle you can find the auction sheet, though unfortunately it won't be an easy task. Find someone to read Japanese in the auction sheets. Regarding the odometer issue, even though it's a crime in Japan to roll-back odometer, there are Japanese exporters who do the same. Ithin lankawa gena kawara kathada? -
According to www.carsensorlab.net. It has all the spec of JDM and much more, albeit in Japanese only.

Tiida may be ugly car depending on one's personal viewpoint. But it's a wonderfully practically and a car with lot of legroom and headroom. True that its in Yaris/Belta class, but when compared to the inflated prices of toyota it worth every cent. Here what does you mean by inconsistent. Different fuel readings for the different Tiida? May be thats due to the CVT models and non-CVT models.
-
Though it is out of thread what was the price given to you ? Just curious
-
Comapring the current market price its worth I think. But remember that even the JDM model is of Thailand origin. Nissan Tiida Latio is of same price bracket I think.
