    Corolla Axio

Gee...I hate to see you select your future partner (assuming you're still single)!! The way it sounds, all it will take is a mini skirt and some cheap make-up to get your heart pumping !!! And of course she will have to act expensive!
  2. Spot on mate!, and actually I don't really care about "careful driving" (a term I see some of these Axio freaks use)to save fuel. Not because I have enough to sepnd but rather since I relish the roar it gives out on 1st and 2nd gears when you freely floor it. Cheers.
  3. Since you have bothered asked and since I have been fortunate enough to be using one for the last 2 months or so, An Impreza GD2, 2007 (9 version), manual does, 8 - 8.3 km/l on weekdays under extreme traffic conditions 8.5 km/l on weekdays during school holidays 9.0 km/l on weekend travelling above 11.0 km/l outstation Note: above figures are facts and not fiction. Besides, I wouldn't want to be boasting of a Subaru with unrealistic fuel consumption figures when there is much more of it to talk about! Like most have pointed out, driving a Subaru is not about saving money on fuel but more to do with the shear pleasure of driving it. Handling is simply out of this world compared to other Japanese models (I was using an EK3, Ferio Mi earlier) cheers.
  4. The total amount I had to pay for my agent was around 26,000 about two months back. They handled everything inside the port and outside including obtaining of the agent's valuation. All I had to do was to, initially provide all the documents specified by him, provide the check for the duty amount that was specified by him and on the day it was actually taken out, to go and collect it from a place close to the port exit gate, to which point he had by then brought the car and had it parked.
  5. Is it "to" 25% or "by" 25%? Anyway "passenger Transport" vehicles can not mean cars, right?
  6. Yaa....it was stupid of me. Thanks for the info about the places. Cheers.
  7. At this price range you could settle for a 2000/2001 RAV4 or a 2003/2004 X-trail Cheers.
  8. Thanks mate.
  9. That's what I thought also. But, last Friday I went from one end to the other of Panchikawatte in search of the 3M "Scratch Remover", but, couldn't find a single damn place which had a single 3M product. Finally, I came to this one store which does all the paint stuff and they had a collection of other alternatives. Actually, who are the authorized dealers for 3M?
  10. Yes, you maybe able to buy the oil from Tech Motors, but, I am not sure whether getting it canged at any service point is a good idea. Besides, AFAIK, Stafford charges only 1000 to 1500 for the labour.
  11. I was using a EK3 Ferio Mi version. AFAIK it represents the multimatic CVT transmission type....well, at least my one was of that type. Cheers.

Well he is not a Subaru expert, if that's what you're expecting, but is more into Axios, ISTs.....obviously due to current demand. Like I had said, I located this car by myself in one of the auctions (they have auctions every weekday and anyone can find out what is available each day, with basic details, from the internet well in advance). After I found this unit I got his agent in Japan to check it out (agent would refuse to bid if not good enough) and gave him a maximum bid to go with. After winning they handled all the paper work and shipping for me. His name is Farhan (0777 900936). Speak to him and see. Cheers.

    Importing Car

Hi mate, I got it done this morning at the IRD. As you said, I took along the T-10 and I didn't have to spend more that 1/2 hr for the whole process. Thanks again for the advise given. Cheers.
  15. Yep, spot-on! I think with SOHCs you get the peak horsepower at a lower RPM compared to DOHCs, but, the peak RPM is relatively lower. SOHCs are by no means out dated. If you take the CIVIC FD1 (1800CC), it has SOHC (correct me if I am wrong)
