  1. Hi Devaka - Nankang is a Taiwan tyre. (Nankang FT4) Any idea about this tyre - dealer says didn't have any complaints yet Ripper - Hankook available one is Optimo K424.
  2. Thank you Don.. I would narrowdown my list to three now Nexen - 15,900 Nankang - 18,900 Hankook - 21,835 Mixed Reviews found on web. Nexen main complaint was noise, cracks etc where Nankang was complaint on low wet grip. But all those are UK reviews may not be valid for Sri Lanka weather and road conditions. Any expert advice to narrow this down to one ?
  3. Guys.. Need Some help. I need to replace the tyres of my KIA jeep. Size P 235 / 60 R16. Went to few places and following are the considered brands at my budget. Roadstone - 16,000 Nexen - 15,900 Nankang - 18,900 Deestone - 21,000 Maxxis - 21,750 Hankook - 21,835 GT - didn't find a place yet I'm driving mainly in Colombo suburbs and once a month outstation drive ( both good and bad roads mix) . Any advice / recommendation you can give interms of grip, thread life, comfort and noise ? any other brand you recommend?
  4. Nissan March K10 - a better choice. But fuel consumption is not great as Charade
  5. I checked with A*W. They said it cost about 15,000 for Engine Tune up. Not 2,500!
  6. Thanks CJ5 for your feedback.. X-Trail would be a good choice defenetely - only issue is the maintenance cost. anyone selling awell maintained 2003 + X trail I would happy to consider. I came across a KIA sportage Petrol 2L 4WD - seems low performance ( power and fuel economy) than diesel version. But I feel the maintenance would be lower .
  7. Mainly for Colombo - sub urban use. may be once a month out station - 'light safari' .
  8. Hi Guys. any experts pls...
  9. Hi, Anyone who has experience with KIA Sportage Diesel Vehicle? I am looking for a 2nd hand SUV - Came across a KIA Sportage 2006 Diesel ( 2L CRDi) 4 WD Auto vehicle. I heard that it does well on Fuel. Any Idea about the maintenance and reliability? (provided it is Diesel and old over 5 years) Other options within my budget are Hyundai Tucson ( 2006 Petrol 2L ) , X trail ( 2003 2.5 L) , Grand Vitara / Escudo ( 2005/6 V6 ) , Mazda Tribute ( 2003) , CRV ( 2003). Looking for a Vehicle with moderate Fuel consumption and fair on maintenance. Your expert advice is essential !
  10. at 30 lks you need to go for a old vehicle if you chose Toyota or Honda ( at least 15 years old) - so most probably esp interior condition would be bad. If you are looking for other brands ; Xtrail (2001) , Hyhundai Tucson ( 2005) , Sportage ( 2004) would fit to your budget. But I am not sure about resale value.
  11. I used a Mazda BJ5P (2001) - Auto for about 2.5 years . No major issue apart from routine maintenance. I sold the car for 2 Mn so within your range. Fuel about 12 km/ L long distance and within colombo 8 km / L Good car to use , confortable , good performance, Durable Interior ( Beige) . Negative points are low ground clearence , relatively high fuel consumption
  12. Kia Sportage ( 2006-7 model) - will be a choice too... heard that it does about 8 km/L .. also Honda CRV...

    Petrol 90 Or 95

As per My knowledge, Mazda Engine would prefer 90+ Octain .. ( Extra premium OR 95 Octain )
  14. As far as I know, you should use 95 Octain Petrol on this vehicle.. Is your numbers with 95 octain? I am also looking a Pajero IO.. Talked to few sellers from #####.. What they told was the fuel consumption was somewhere 8 km/L in Colombo and 10 km/L outstation.. Did you manage to improve your fuel performance?
  15. Hi Everyone, Just to give you un update... As most of you advised, by simply changing the driving style I managed to increase the fuel efficiency to 8.5 km/L in Colombo City Limitsusing 90 Octain Xra premium fuel . Last week I replaced the plugs , now it seems even better . :alc: :alc:
