  1. Damn, just saw this.. otherwise could have told you don't really need a lawyer, it's a 1000-1500 extra expense for no reason. cos they don't really reduce ur fine at all. You need a friend who can pay the fine on ur behalf while u sit in the cooler for a bit. For minor offences it's not worth crap to get a lawyer who will prattle off a few words under their breath when ur case is called which the judge doesn't give heed to at all. Be prepared on Friday (depending on which court this is) to 'pay' the cop at the register to release your license once all is said and done. I had experience of this cos I had no clue where my license 'overleaf' was (or I had never seen it since year dot) so the bugger wouldn't release the license without me getting the 'overleaf' - which I had to apply for newly from RMV (big process) 500 bucks settled this...
  2. Yeah I haven't heard about any conversion kits for the Vxi/Zxi version, although I'm sure you could pick up some pointers on Indian forums, and correct me if I'm wrong, the conversion + the car would cost more than a Swift Sport altogether? (that car is around 3.2-35mn) Like terra said, I think my own car has more cosmetics than performance, lowered chassis and sports suspension + modified ECU (although I'm yet to find out exactly what) but provides a decent pull for the 1.3 engine. Hard to get your hands on a Glanza or Starlet GT? I tried, but failed, before getting the Swift
  3. thanks for the advice, will try these out and check
  4. That was before this latest top up machang, and it was an outstation drive so it did well... this latest tank, well, is already down to half at just under 120kms
  5. Hi Everyone, need some advice / direction. I'm running a 2007 Jap Swift Beetle (ZC11s) and usually on a full tank of petrol (37.5-38l) I get about 350-380kms. My issue is this, I recently filled up the tank from the Flower Road shed and the needle is already at just above half a tank and it hasn't even done 120kms... usually at this point it should have done about 190kms on the meter. I'm wondering why this is... cos so far the figures have been round about consistent and now this is a noticeable change. No change in driving habits or amount of traffic or anything like that. If it helps to diagnose, I went to Arugam Bay and back over the weekend and racked up about 720kms on 1.5 tanks of petrol. Any advice? Been taken for a ride? something packing up? Thanks in advance!
  6. Interesting point... probably it'll be Colombo-Galle-Hambanthota, Colombo-Kandy-Trinco, Colombo-Katu-Kalpitiya-Mannar-Jaffna
  7. haha yeah it's crater heaven there... no matter how many times they fill it up it just sinks from the same place all over again. :S Thanks machang I think it's time for a full health check.. hope it doesn't get followed by a fat... cheque.... I got bushes replaced maybe about 8 months ago... and then the front shocks 2 months ago... I think you're right about the figurative straw thanks machang
  8. naaa not fast... but my GF lives pretty far inside Malabe (Pothuarawa road) that road is worse than the moon, and when I had 17"s I had to change to 15"s... sigh... for the betterment of the car. so fastest I've probably gone on those roads in a hurry would be 50... usually around 30-40.
  9. Hi Everyone, just want some info... I got a 2007 Swift (ZC11s) manual and the car has modified coils and lowered, in addition with the body kit it's pretty low. My issue - I do drive on really bad road surfaces most of the time, and I've replaced my front shock absorber units about 2 months ago. Yesterday I had to take a rather heavy individual in the car (he weighs about 110kg which is double me.. so the weight distribution was terrible ) and thru the bad roads a knocking sound started coming. Mostly heard on declines and gear changes. I can feel a kind of knock on the clutch as well. It got a little better after dropping him, but still occasionally comes... like a dull 'duk duk' sound... Can anyone help me to identify what might the issue be? Before I take it to A*W and they say I gotta replace a whole bunch of stuff. (I hope my shocks are still under warranty) Thanks guys!
  10. Haha no worries man
  11. You've paid to enter the highway? Some sort of advance fine just for you? The day I went they were reading off average speeds of vehicles based on their entry/exit times. So if you wanna speed, be smart like the guy in the Type-R. Whizz through at 200 and take a half hour cig break on the shoulder
  12. 80000 million lakhs? 80,000 x 1,000,000 x 100,000 ??? 8,000,000,000,000,000... *Googles figure....* Eight Quadrillion!
  13. da da dum! um no.
  14. Haha I really don't give a shit what happens man... whether ppl are copped or not and yeah I did notice a Blue Axela on the way back... must've been about 5:30pm on the road yeah? nice car! Some dudes burst and slow down.. that's kinda annoying, cos they pass u at 120 and then slow down to 80-90 and then u gotta pass them... kinda like a moving musical chairs lol
  15. Haha I thought this would come Anyways, my rant on the other thread was about E01 and E01 alone I did stress that And u can't really say I got my panties in a twist cos I wasn't really bitching about anything, just said '220' seemed a bit excessive... simply that man Also I never said I'm not a fan of speed or that I don't speed, just that I keep to the 100 on the E01. Also I was hardly 'preaching' just sharing some views lol Anyways if u guys wanna bitch about me let's not hijack this thread, let's keep it about the GTR Cheers!
  16. Who's the cowboy who was driving a 2007 Civic Type R (white with white rims) on the expressway yesterday? Guy must've been doing 160 cutting in and out of traffic on the Galle entrance road to the expressway and then hammered from there... saw them taking a cig break on the shoulder probably to let time pass and average their time Many many cars wr caught for speeding yesterday. At the Galle exit point we could hear a PA system voicing out top speeds of cars as they approached the gate. 2 beamers who whizzed past wr also caught on the side. Sorry dot com... guess the thrill is worth the katta and the fine Also come stupid dude in a classic Merc who was tailgating an OVERTAKING vehicle (which musta been overtaking me at about 120) on the right lane with less than a 5 foot gap... yikes!
  17. Yes quiet it was the day I saw it run past... Last night was driving on Duplication road and this car was just pulling into the road near Peter's... revved up to him to push him a little and man that was a sight to behold... ran the shutters down just to hear the sound of it pulling away in all it's glory wow moment
  18. Haha I know what you mean bro, it's a fun, scary, testing Sri Lanka out there on the normal roads, but my point was about E01 specifically things should be different there don't you think?
  19. saw this rumbling past on Galle Road at Wellawatte tonight... was a beauty! But very quiet... very very quiet
  20. lol... AL sure is fun when you drop a match to think all I ever said was 220 seemed excessive no moral policing at all, just that I thought it's dumb to think you own the road and can do what you want on it, no matter how sure you are
  21. Lol is assumption your new pastime? Or are you studying for a Ph.D in Insultation I was simply coolly making my point, and here you are going all ape on me, righteously dissing my righteousness lol... now I wonder whose panties are in a twist... silk or not....... hmmmm
  22. wow someone's gotten outta the wrong side of the bed today... All I was saying is 200 is excessive and silly on our roads. Have a good day!
  23. "If the person who wants to drive at 200, let him drive. Its his right and the police is there to deal with it. If it ends up in disaters, ten its again his problem. Not anyone of you pansies's." - I think that's the crappiest comment I've heard on AL. I don't think anyone needs elaborate on it. If the guy owns the road, and no one else uses it, and all the property surrounding the road is owned by him, THEN he can do whatever he wants. I wonder what you would say if a guy doing 200 were to come nick you while on E01... oh sorry, you'd say it's your problem and not anyone else's... then again it won't be your problem either, you'd be dead Also don't assume that anyone who is against speeding drives a Viva Elite or pansyass Maruti as you call it, or is unable to drive at speed.
  24. the point is not the ability of the driver to control. Even if they are dead sure of themselves and their car, at such high speeds, he runs terrible risks. Especially on E01 with the wildlife and other drivers going slower. Plenty of instances where a dog might have crossed suddenly. Avoiding at 100 is one thing, avoiding at 200 is a whole different deal. E01 has pretty good safety mechanisms, and accidents at 100 will cause carnage, but 200 is sure death. Not to mention damage to public property. Also, it may be for good or bad, but E01 has no lower speed limit. we can curse all we want for people doing 50-60 on that road, but they have every right to. (so far) overtaking a slow moving vehicle at 100 on E01 is comfortable enough, but doing so at 200 might not be such a good idea. My point is, there's nothing to be proud of for travelling so fast, and even less to be proud of for justifying it. There are roads for that speed. Tracks I guess, or maybe abroad. Or if they make E01 six lanes and up the limit. I dunno, it maybe just the figure jumping into '2'00 that made me feel strongly about this just something psychological... hmm maybe the old marketing gimmick selling stuff at 199.99 actually works!! lol
